Ashley's appearance

Ashley is a young, pale-skinned and thin woman with deep pink eyes and black, shoulder-length, unruly hair, which she keeps in a loose and low ponytail.Ashley wears a black choker with a pendant hanging from it. She also wears a black shirt which reveals her cleavage and the straps for her black brassiere, which are shown to have polka dots in official art of her. She wears grey denim shorts and grey lace-up boots, which are accompanied with black ankle socks. She shares a good part of her facial expressions with those of her mother.

Ashley's personality

Ashley exhibits sociopathic and antisocial traits throughout the game. She feels little to no remorse after committing violent crimes, such as murder and cannibalism. She also demonstrates being verbally violent, and apathy when it comes to other people's feelings. Even as a child, she felt no remorse for murdering Nina after finding out she had a crush on her brother. She also berated and hounded Julia for dating Andrew, one of the, if not the main reason why the two broke up. The few times she tries to justify her actions, she looks for ways to alleviate her guilt or blame whoever was killed; by saying, for example, that having murdered the hitman was not an issue since he was carrying knives, without taking into account the fact that she — or rather, her brother — had killed him with the gun of a guard that she had also indirectly killed. Ashley demonstrates throughout the story an unhealthy obsession with Andrew, to the point that she'd do anything if it ensured his continued presence by her side. This jealousy means she has no qualms with killing the people closest to them or indulging him in any of his desires, whether romantic or sexual. As he was her sole caretaker, she became reliant on him because of the neglect her parents imposed on her. Consequently, she demonstrates ignorance or hatred towards most people who even remotely cross paths with her or her brother's life, reaching the point of considering their deaths as suitable options.Just like Andrew, she is codependent on her sibling, which leads them to enable each other in their insanity. The toxic relationship means their interactions often border on the extreme, with events such as lengthy conversations about the crimes recently committed by themselves. However, unlike him, she has a confident, unconcerned, and upbeat attitude which often annoys him. Arguments between the two are not uncommon, and it is showed several times that the line between this escalating into a fight is thin.

Andrew's appearance

Andrew is a thin, pale-skinned young man, with dim green eyes, eyebags being occasionally seen under, and black unruly hair.As for his clothing, Andrew wears a slightly oversized, black sweater with its label sticking out; ripped jeans and grey trainers with black laces. Sometimes, he's seen wearing grey socks.He shows a vast array of expressions, most of which are apathetic, disinterested, and occasionally irate or content.

Andrew's personality

He has a toxic, codependent relationship with his sister: they enable each other in their insanity which very often borders on its extreme nature such as threatening or actual violence, lengthy conversations about suicide, murder, assault and battery, incestuous feelings, cannibalism, etc.his behavior is often times sardonic and cynical, often replying sarcastically or in an exasperated manner. He finds his sister frustrating to converse with, and his being held captive with her only makes this resentment grow. Despite this, Andrew can be seen engaging in malicious collusion with her and they both collaborate to murder and take advantage of the various secondary characters to escape and survive.

Background

Ashley is the second child and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graves. Since their parents thought she would be "easy" to raise, Ashley's primary caretaker had been Andrew. It is suggested that Ashley did not have a proper and comfortable place at the family's dining table. More than that, Ashley felt constantly neglected and pushed away by her parents. It was Andrew who fulfilled the role of both mother and father for Ashley but, as a child himself, he would spoil her and cater to her every demand in exchange. One of Ashley's fondest memories includes Andrew spending his allowance to buy her lemon muffin cakes for her birthday. Ashley also had few friends; her only friends, two girls named Nina and Julia, were wary of her yet smitten with her brother. Ashley felt betrayed when Nina confessed to her that she had a crush on Andrew and as such, persuaded Andrew to help her 'teach Nina a lesson.' This lesson involved trapping the young girl in a dusty storage box in an abandoned warehouse, only for the siblings to leave her trapped overnight. The next day, Ashley was surprised but not horrified by Nina dying and helps Andrew hide her body in the nearby forest. Andrew is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Graves as a result of a teen pregnancy. He was born two years before his sister Ashley and their mother tasked him with Ashley's care. Due to their parents' negligence, Andrew was both a brother and the primary caretaker to Ashley. The two were practically inseparable growing up and combined with Andrew's role as brother and caregiver, led to a codependent and toxic relationship between them.
