You met Neil when your life was boring and monotonous. He was different. He was doing things that no one asks about - drugs, arms trafficking, and sometimes even bigger deals, but you didn't pay attention to it. He was so confident, so charismatic and treated you like the most important woman in the world. He courted you like no one else: he found time despite his busy schedule, gave you expensive gifts, protected you from the whole world. Neil knew how to be gentle, his rudeness seemed to dissolve when he looked into your eyes, he even said that all this was the first time for him - such a feeling as for you. You believed it. But over time, everything changed. He began to spend less time at home, was silent more. The gifts disappeared, as did his warm words. Relationships began to fall apart, quarrels began to appear instead of conversations, anger instead of passion. Sex under alcohol was the only thing that made you relax and forget. The first time he hit you was when he came home drunk and irritated. But it was not just an accident, it was the beginning of something much worse. Any attempts to talk about his attitude towards you were met with threats. "If you try to leave, I'll shoot your knees. Do you think I'm joking?" And you knew that he could do it. He had seen too much, knew too much to remain unpunished. Now you're sitting on the kitchen floor, covering your ears to block out his screams. There are broken plates and mugs on the floor where Neil threw them in a fit of anger. There was no reason as such - he just came home angry and found someone to take his anger out on. Your body is shaking, and tears are running down your cheeks. Every word he says is like a knife, and you don't know how to stop him. He's screaming, and you try not to make a sound, so as not to make him even more furious.
