Appearance

Asmodeus is a large, vibrantly-colored, and burly demon of intimidating stature. He has long arms and digitigrade legs, a broad upper chest and narrow waist, and a tuft of cyan rooster-like tail feathers that have three sickle tail feathers colored red, black, and ivory-white each. His head is colored dark blue with red and white head feathers sticking out from a tuft on his head, and he has large feathers running to his chest. He has glowing neon green-colored eyes and mouth on his main head, and a thick mane of cyan hair, in which there are two additional faces of a ram and a bull on the right and left sides, respectively, which react to what he says and can speak and sing along with him. In "Oops", it is shown that his body is a lighter shade than his head and he has light blue nipples that are heart-shaped. His arms fade to light blue from the elbow, while his legs fade to black and are tipped with bird-like talons. Asmodeus wears a tall, red-banded black top hat with red lining and a pair of long, different-colored feathers (ivory right and red left), and a navy-blue vest with ivory lapels, a heart-shaped opening on the lower-front and exactly four glowing white stripes on the upper half, worn over a popped-collared, red untucked dress-shirt with heart-shaped cufflinks on the long sleeves navy-colored cuffs. He also wears ivory gloves, navy pants and jagged, black thigh-high high-heeled boots with red cuffs, toes and tips of the heels. In his hidden form, Asmodeus instead wears a popped-collared, red-lined and red-striped dark purple-blue coat with coattails, pointed shoulder-pads and red cuffs with black cufflinks. He also wears black pants and dress shoes.

Full Demon

Asmodeus' full demon form is similar to his normal form, but he is much larger and all his plumage is replaced by large plumes of neon blue and pink flames. These flames also appear on his hands and tail feathers. Also, his main head, as well as his ram and bull heads, turn a reddish-pink.

Personality

Asmodeus possesses a very boastful and arrogant attitude, especially whenever something contrasts with his reputation of being the embodiment of lust. Otherwise, Asmodeus values consensual lust, stating how it's about pleasure for everyone involved. He has shown to take great pride with his status, not hesitating to put others down who publicly exhibit a sentimental demeanor towards their partners, although, there is a possibility that he is disgusted by the concept of public sentimentality. He is also shown to tease or humiliate others regarding their relationship, such as how he belittles Moxxie for expressing his romantic feelings towards his wife in Asmodeus' diner. Asmodeus takes great pleasure with having other demons display their amorous desires, as shown with his attempt to convince Moxxie to sing more erotically during his performance. He also expressed upon seeing Stolas how he hoped Stolas hadn't given his wife and daughter up to be with Blitzo, but he commended how he had given up his life out of lust. However, this was eventually shown to be very hypocritical. Despite all this, Asmodeus is shown to have a soft spot for Fizzarolli, expressing concern for him when Millie attacked him. He was also seen cuddling with Fizzarolli when Moxxie had finished singing a love song, as well as intimately holding him, while telling Moxxie and Millie to leave. In the episode "Oops", he has shown to deeply care for Fizzarolli, to the point that he can get enraged if anything happens to him. At the end of the episode, Asmodeus became more open about showing his affections to Fizzarolli, without worry of what his employees thought, but he threatened to hurt anyone who spoke of their relationship to others. He can also show sympathy towards others, as shown with Stolas in "Oops" when he sympathetically told him that he couldn't help him out of respect for Fizzaroli's wishes, despite wanting to.

Personality 2

Unlike most of his fellow Sins, Asmodeus is also rather sympathetic towards the low-class demons, such as imps and hellhounds, even involving himself romantically with one. In addition, despite being the Sin of Lust, he is shown to have limits, as he is strongly against forcing others into relationships or sex through artificial means such as love potions. In Stolas' text history with Blitzo, Stolas describes Asmodeus as being "invasive in his humor".

Trivia

Asmodeus is based on the popular demon of the same name known for having multiple renditions, which are referenced in the character's depiction in the series. In both The Lanterne of Light and in Peter Binsfeld's classification of demons, Asmodeus is one of the seven demons associated with the seven deadly sins, embodying the deadly sin of Lust. Likewise, Asmodeus in Helluva Boss is the embodiment of Lust. Asmodeus is the first of the Deadly Sins to debut in Helluva Boss and the first to debut in the franchise overall. He is also the first Deadly Sin to have appeared in more than one episode. According to Crimson, Asmodeus is considered to be the weakest and most non-threatening of the sins, but it is unknown if this is true or was just a taunt or insult from the former. It could be a reference to Dante's Inferno, where Lust is considered to be the least bad sin. Him having three faces, and rooster-like legs and tail, is a reference to the demon's appearance in the Book of Tobit and The Lesser Key of Solomon, where it illustrates him as having the heads of a bull, of a man, and of a ram, with the legs of a rooster and a serpent for a tail. Though, while in the Book of Tobit and The Lesser Key of Solomon depicted Asmodeus' bull head being on the right side and the ram head on the left, this depiction of Asmodeus has the bull and ram heads inverted on the opposite side with the bull being on the left and the ram on the right. The demon is also a King of the Ars Goetia in The Lesser Key of Solomon. The Goetic seal can be seen in the platform of Ozzie's club. Furthermore, Asmodeus is familiar with Stolas, who is also part of the Ars Goetia. This was shown in the episode "Oops" when Stolas refers to Asmodeus as "Sire" as a sign of respect.

Trivia 2

As shown in Blitzo's phone at the end of the episode "Ozzie's", there is an app parodying the real-life online dating app, Tinder, named "Lustinder", with Asmodeus's silhouette being the icon, which may imply that the app is owned by him or is simply attributed to him. He shares the same voice actor as Vortex in Helluva Boss, as well as the lizard sinner seen with Zeezi in Klub Kaiju in the Hazbin Hotel pilot and Zestial in the Hazbin Hotel main series, with all of them being voiced by James Monroe Iglehart. Asmodeus creates and is responsible for the Robotic Fizzarolli sex toy line, which are shown to be marketed across the rings of Hell. This was first implied in "Loo Loo Land" by Robo Fizz who stated that he was shipped from "Big Ozzie's factory",[5] and later confirmed in "MAMMON'S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MID-SEASON SPECIAL (ft Fizzarolli)" that Asmodeus and his factory are indeed responsible for creating the Robo Fizz sex toy line for Mammon, albeit Asmodeus strongly dislikes the practice. In "The Circus", Stolas skims through a book titled "The King of Lust - Asmodeus" during his song and stops on pages detailing about "Asmodean Crystals". In "MAMMON'S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MID-SEASON SPECIAL (ft Fizzarolli)", according to Asmodeus, he has known Mammon since "the start of Hell", implying that the two are as old, or older, than Hell itself. In the Hazbin Hotel episode "The Show Must Go On", Lucifer mentions in the Finale that Hell is at least 10,000 years old.
