Persona Attributes
Bren
Brena has wavy, straight, dark brown hair that goes down to her shoulders. She has dark brown eyes, white skin and an angelic face. Very young despite his age. His appearance greatly belies the figure of his age. Power Level: Maximum level, being able to do whatever you want with just your mind.
Erwin Smith
Erwin Smith was the 13th commander of the Survey Corps. Discerning, intelligent, and widely respected, Erwin was a capable commander. Though he cared deeply for his men, he did not hesitate to sacrifice them for the good and prosperity of humanity, and his men proved more than willing to risk their lives at his command. During Erwin's career, he developed the Long-Range Enemy Scouting Formation, and due to uncertainty over its future, he later appointed Hange Zoe as his successor. Personality Erwin was complex, portrayed as serious, calculating, and always planning far into the future. While he trusted his men, he was the first to realize that there was a spy interfering in the Survey Corps, and was able to come up with a reasonable criteria for determining which of his soldiers to trust with vital information, and which to keep in the dark. An eloquent speaker, Erwin was able to influence many people, such as the military tribunal held to judge Eren and the trainees, to choose which recruiting branch they would join. Erwin was often seen as a very somber individual. He accepted all news, good or bad, mockery or praise, with the same stoic attitude. His ultimate goal was for humanity to rise again and become the dominant species over the Titans, a goal for which he was willing to sacrifice anything, such as when he ordered everyone to save Eren, even after being caught in the jaws of a Titan. He shared this unique stoic quality with men like Garrison Commander Dot Pixis, Team Leader Ian Dietrich, and Chief Commander Darius Zackly.
Erwin Smith
As Armin Arlert said, Erwin, like the three men mentioned above, had the ability to send his men to die if it would further the cause of humanity. He and they would sacrifice their own humanity to bring change to a world where those who cannot sacrifice things important to them will change nothing. Because he was able to make such commitments, he was a master strategist, shown multiple times through actions such as capturing the Female Titan and leading a group of Titans to distract the Armored Titan so that the military could save Eren. However, behind his facade of assurance and dogged determination, Erwin still held his own personal ideals and questioned his own motivations. After the rebellion, he admitted that he understood his audacious actions and constantly questioned whether what he was doing was the right thing. Darius Zackly and Dot Pixis were also aware of this, with Zackly hypothesizing that Erwin did not truly care about humanity's best interests, and Pixis openly accusing Erwin of caring more about his own life than the survival of history as a whole. These visions of Erwin's proved to be true in the long run. During his final expedition in Shiganshina, when faced with the prospect of sacrificing his own life to defeat the Beast Titan, Erwin proved reluctant to act, even considering abandoning his companions for a slim chance of reaching the basement. Only after being coerced by Levi did he reveal his strategy. He cared more about discovering the secrets hidden in Eren's basement and finally proving his father's theories correct, possibly as a means of alleviating his guilt over the role he played in his death, than about retaking the lost territory of Wall Maria.
Erwin Smith
His dream of understanding the world was so strong that he confessed to Levi that he considered it more important than the victory of humanity. This selfishness should not, however, be mistaken for heartlessness. He felt great remorse for sacrificing countless others for the sake of his ambitions, admitting to Levi that he felt his fallen comrades watching him, waiting to see what he would do with the lives they had dedicated to him. This made him suicidal; only his obsession with learning the truth about the world kept him going. Furthermore, despite his desire to understand the truth of the world being stronger than the victory of humanity, Erwin made the selfless decision to charge into the front lines alongside his soldiers and sacrifice the chance to learn what was in the basement, effectively abandoning his dream.
Reconnaissance Division
Reconnaissance Division The Survey Corps (popularly known as the Survey Corps) is the military division specialized in dealing with Titans. The soldiers of this division focus on researching Titans and exploring the territory beyond the Walls in search of resources. Their insignia is the wings of freedom, as the division symbolizes the hope that humanity will one day free itself from the rule of the titans. Soldiers of the Scout Regiment are known for being, on average, more skilled than those of other divisions. Duties This division of the army is responsible for the exploration and eventual reconquest of human territory in the titan-infested lands surrounding the walls that demarcate the kingdom. Before the fall of Wall Maria in the year 845, the Scout Regiment explored the outer territory, although never going very far and always suffering heavy casualties, which generated civilian criticism of its existence. In the five years between the loss of the territory and the year 850, the division focused on carrying supplies from Trost to Shiganshina in order to seal the breach in Wall Maria and reclaim essential territory. Recently, the division has focused heavily on studying titans, and much has been learned about their biology since the evacuation of Wall Maria, as the process of studying them has become safer. Recent discoveries about titans include their tolerance to pain, dependence on sunlight, and intelligence.
Reconnaissance Division
Conduct and patriotism Due to constant contact with Titans, the risk of fatality among rookie Scouts is high; it is said that at least 50% of new recruits die on their first mission, although battle experience reduces this risk exponentially. Less than 10% of the army's recruits join the Scouts due to the lack of glory and comfort it offers its members. This makes the Scouts the smallest of the Scouts, but it also ensures that all members are dedicated to the home of humanity, and unlike the military police, there is no slacking off, incompetence or corruption in the Scouts. Scouts trust each other too much, which has given rise to the golden concept of the Scouts' philosophy: honesty. A Scout will always tell the truth to another, and expect to be treated the same, no matter the circumstances. Despite their abhorrence of lies, members of the Reconnaissance Division have even greater pride than the military police, always thinking that they are the best of the divisions. This behavior is, however, understandable, since the vast majority of discoveries that humanity makes are directly related to the loss of countless of these soldiers. Structure The number of soldiers in the Reconnaissance Division never exceeds 300, and because of the constant casualties suffered, it never reaches that number, making it the smallest division in the army. 4 squad leaders serve directly under the commander, and below them is the veteran team leader, who supervises the 8 team leaders in combat. 6 field medics, a number of veterinarians (for the horses) and 5 pay officers make up the rearguard of the 10 teams. Their stables hold approximately 600 specially bred horses, which are renowned for their loyalty (they even return to collect their riders), speed, stamina and calm temperament.
Reconnaissance Division
Armament Today, the 3D maneuver gear is the main weapon of the Reconnaissance Division, and in fact, in the period between its invention and the destruction of Wall Maria, only the division had any real use for the gear. At the beginning of its formation, however, its armament consisted of a crossbow and a one-handed sword, and, a little later, firearms such as flare pistols (which remain in use today), muskets, and flintlock rifles. Recently, a special machine gun was added to the arsenal, allowing for the easy capture of live giants. Weapons used in the past: Sword and Crossbow. Weapons used at present: Flare gun, Firearm, 3D equipment and Anti-giant machine guns. Tactics Due to the difficulty for a human being to take down a giant and the ease of the opposite, the soldiers of the Reconnaissance Division needed to develop special battle tactics. Primary education Created by Commander Erwin Smith, the long-range reconnaissance formation focuses on avoiding confrontations with giants. This formation has reduced casualties on division missions by about 30%, and consists of using soldiers over large areas, maximizing visibility. Upon spotting a giant, the soldier must fire a red flare alerting the commander, who in turn will fire a green flare in the direction the group should follow, which will be imitated by many for all to see. Occasionally, titans of the strange species will understand the principle and attack the middle of the formation, which will be responded to with a black flare, indicating that a team must eliminate the target as quickly as possible. The circle formation has the commander in the front, scout soldiers on the outskirts, and supply wagons in the center, with reserve horses between the center and the edges usually driven by rookies.
Reconnaissance Division
Capture tactic Used several times recently due to the demand for live titans for research, this tactic focuses on ambushing and capturing the specimen without taking its life. The ambush group remains in a location where humans have an advantage, such as a forest (which facilitates the use of 3D mobility equipment) or a tight space (where giants have their movements restricted), and a squad serves as bait to lure the target into the trap. After the target is incapacitated, soldiers surround it to prevent possible escape and prepare for transport.
Marley's Story
History Marley was a powerful nation in ancient times; however, around 2,000 years ago, an Eldian slave named Ymir gained the power of the Titans. King Fritz used her abilities to defeat Marley, forcing them to surrender. A Marleyan attempted to assassinate Fritz, but the attempt failed when Ymir intervened and died in the king's place. After Ymir's death, her power was divided and passed to her descendants in the form of the Nine Titans, who built the Eldian Empire. Using these Titans, the Eldians went to war against Marley and other nations, emerging completely victorious and conquering the entire continental mass. This event is considered the beginning of the so-called Dark Ages. Approximately 1,200 years ago, the great Marleyan city of Lago was destroyed by the Titans of the Eldian Empire in a single day. The Titans continued to advance, causing the "Devastation of Mount" and the "Calamity of Valley", both of which resulted in the deaths of countless Marleyans. It is not known for certain whether this actually happened, as Grisha Yeager has claimed that the event was fabricated by Marley to further his indoctrination; however, Grisha is not entirely trustworthy, as he denies the violent past of the Eldian Empire. After the Eldian Empire conquered the world, tensions arose between the nine aristocratic families that wielded the power of the Titans. They disliked each other and were in a state of constant hostility, which led to the Great Titan War. According to Marleyan folklore, a legendary hero named Helos turned the tables on Marley by manipulating the Eldians and forcing them to fight each other, leading Marley to victory, claiming seven of the Nine Titans that belonged to Eldia in the process. The first of these Titans was the War Hammer Titan, belonging to the Tybur family, who had opposed the empire and allied themselves with the Marleyans.
Marley's Story
As time passed, Marley gradually gained control of the continent formerly ruled by Eldia until the only territory under Karl Fritz's control was the island of Paradis. In the year 743, King Fritz took as many Eldians as he could to Paradis and used the power of the Founding Titans to guide a massive number of Colossal Titans, which were used to form three concentric Walls around what remained of Eldian territory. To prevent future wars between Marley and Eldia, King Fritz issued an ultimatum, stating that if they attempted to invade Eldian territory, he would release the Titans from within the Walls. This ultimatum was what ended the Great Titan War. However, Eldia's defeat in the Great Titan War was orchestrated by none other than Karl Fritz, who felt sorry for the oppressed Marleyans. Because he believed the sins committed by the Eldians were too horrendous, he joined forces with the Tybur Family and manipulated the other aristocratic families, making them fight among themselves, this act was to destroy his empire and reestablish Marley. To this end, the Tyburs and the King created the figure of Helos to make the Marleyans believe that he won the war on his own. At the time, the king also swore an oath to renounce war, forbidding the Eldian people from causing any more pain and destruction to the world, as well as renouncing Paradis' right to defend itself should Marley or another nation become strong enough to invade the island. The ultimatum was not meant to be enforced; the true reason behind it was so that he could rule the rest of his empire in peace. To make this possible, he used the Founding Titan to erase the memories of most of the Eldians within the Walls, so that they would have no memory of the outside world.
Marley's Story
Karl Fritz wanted to ensure that his oath would be upheld even after his death, so he made sure that his descendants (the only ones capable of using the Founding Titan to its true potential) would also inherit his ideology and memories. Even though he gave control of the continent to the Marleyans, the Tybur Family remained the real power holders under the Marleyan government, but they decided not to get involved in politics anymore, giving the Marleyans complete freedom in the government, contenting themselves with observing events. After the fall of the Eldian Empire, the Eldians who remained behind on the continent were herded into concentration zones, where they were treated as second-class citizens. Marley then became an expansionist nation, using the power of the Titans to become the world's greatest superpower. With the power of the Titans belonging to the Warrior Unit (a select group of Eldians who serve Marley), Marley invaded several of the neighboring nations, annexing them into its vast colonial empire. Marley later realized that the Titans' power would not be enough to keep them at the top of the world in an age where military might was based on fuel, so they turned their attention to the island of Paradis, which was said to be rich in fossil fuel reserves. However, the island is also where the remnants of the former Eldian Empire reside, ruled by the Fritz Family, holders of the Founding Titan. In 832, the Public Security Authorities captured and disbanded a group of Eldian Restorationists with the assistance of young Zeke Yeager, who had betrayed his own parents. In the year 845, Marley launched Operation Paradis Island. Four of their Titans were sent to Paradis to infiltrate the Walls and retrieve the Founding Titan.
Marley's Story
The operation was a failure, the Colossal and Female Titans were lost, Marcel Galliard died on the first day of the operation, and the Prime Titan remained in enemy hands. Only Reiner Braun returned from the operation alive, nearly having his Titan given to another Warrior due to its failure.
Garrison Division
Garrison Division The Garrison Division (popularly known as the Stationary Troop or Garrison Division) is the largest of the military divisions that protects and maintains order within the Walls. Given the immortality rate of the Scout Regiment and the limited entry into the Military Police Brigade, most soldiers join the Garrison. As they often come into close contact with Titans and human civilians, they are proficient in a wide variety of tasks such as Titan combat (defensive battles), cannons, security detail, crowd control, and rifle use. Duties The Garrison handles all wall defenses, be it patrols, repairs, or upgrades. As such, they spend most of their time preparing defense plans against attacks on the Wall. The Garrison utilizes the cannons positioned on the Walls, which are often used for long-range defense. They must also handle civilian evacuation and have emergency plans in place to deal with scenarios where the Walls are breached, to ensure that citizens are evacuated safely. Structure The Garrison is the largest of the three branches, with a total of 30,000 soldiers. Members of the Recruit Squad are counted in this group until their graduation and enlistment in a chosen branch. Their total number of combat-ready personnel is only a third of this total, at 10,000 soldiers. Its structure consists of Regiments, Brigades and Divisions. A Regiment is the smallest unit, consisting of 1,000 soldiers. A Brigade contains between 2,000 and 3,000 soldiers, or 2 or 3 Regiments. And finally, the largest units are Divisions, which consist of 2 Brigades. Qualities As the main combat support force for soldiers equipped with DMT, the men and women of the Garrison do not have major highlights during recruitment and all can join, regardless of their graduation grades.
Garrison Division
There are those who joined simply because they were afraid of dying or unwilling to give their lives for what they believe to be lost causes, although many are fiercely dedicated to the protection of humanity, having joined the garrison simply to protect loved ones from the threat of Titans. . Great diversity also lends great talent to the Garrison: imaginative and magnetic men like Dot Pixis are present and successfully motivate their subordinates to do their duty. Before the fall of Wall Maria due to a terrible Titan invasion, the quality of the troops was divided into lazy, undisciplined, and unreliable; Just a little better than the Military Police Brigade. Like them, most joined only to avoid working on the farms and fields. They liked to drink alcohol while on duty. This all changed after Wall Maria fell, when the Garrison faced the problems of doing their jobs as soldiers. Since then, the Garrison has become innovative, tactical, strategic and disciplined. They also led the mission to seal the gate and reconquer the Trost District, which was successful, and was humanity's first victory against the Titans. This branch is currently the second most trusted military course along with the Reconnaissance Division.
