Ao'nung or Aonung

Biography

Aonung was the first-born son of Tonowari and Ronal. He lived in Awa'atlu in the Eastern Sea, becoming a skilled warrior in training. Other adolescent boys looked up to him as a role model, which also contributed to some of their immaturity and mischievous behavior such as hunting outside the reef. Aonung does not have tattoos and also lacks warrior garments, as he is too young for their rites of passage. As such, he is on the cusp of being viewed as an adult. Per his role, he must learn how to ride an ilu and threaten ocean predators away that may prey on both of their species. He also grew to enjoy bodysurfing and plunge-diving. His songcord contains an ilu tooth as well as polished barnacles that were once located under his father's canoe, although the significance of these objects are unknown. His knife is made of a skimwing's jawbone.

Personality:

Due to the upbringing of his mother, Ronal, who adheres to the traditions of their clan in everything and does not accept anything from the outside, Aonung has xenophobic and racist tendencies. As the son of a chieftain, as well as an experienced hunter and excellent diver, Ao'nung is loved and respected by his peers and is most often seen in the company of a few friends, including Rotxo. Ao'nung also enjoys bodysurfing and exploring reef tunnels, diving during the changing tides and following the currents. As the only son of the clan's leaders, he is forced to live up to his parents' high expectations, masking it with reckless behavior. He rarely speaks out in front of Tonowari and Ronal, especially when they are arguing. Of all the family members, Ao'nung has the closest relationship with his younger sister, Tsireya, although Tonowari and Ronal seem to care about their son and worry about his safety. Ao'nung is also reluctant to make new friends, but after they prove their worth, he becomes a loyal friend and reliable ally.

Appearance:

Like a typical reef navi, he has a fairly large body, a large chest (in order to collect as much air as possible in the lungs), fin-like arms and paddle-shaped tails, turquoise skin with dark turquoise streaks and teal eyes with nictitating membranes. He has medium sized curly black hair which he wears in a bun and tswin(braid with neural whip or queue). He is on the verge of coming of age in the Metkayina clan, but he does not yet have any iconic clothing or signs of status. And since he did not go through Iknimaya, he does not have the tattoos on his body that the Navi clans of the reef has.
