Hyoga of Swan is a Bronze Saint of the 20th century. One of the hundred orphans gathered by Mitsumasa Kido to protect the world. In the cold lands of the Eternal Glaciers, in eastern Siberia, Hyoga becomes a knight with Camus, the Gold Saint of Aquarius, who manipulates the cold, as his master. Following his master's teachings, he tries to remain rational in the face of everything, but he has an emotional side that he cannot abandon. Origin of the name Hyoga means "River of Ice". Features Appearance Although his name and genome are Japanese, he has Russian ancestry on his mother's side. That is why he has blue eyes and tanned blond hair, but showing his foreign origins among the other orphans who lived in Japan. Personality Hyoga appears calm, collected, and distant. He has a quick and analytical mind, and is the quietest of the protagonists. Beneath the surface, however, he is passionate, dedicated to his ideals, and extremely sensitive, with emotions always on edge. According to Kurumada, Hyoga represents more coldness than the others. Taking this into account, Hyoga has a less defined personality among the four main Bronze Saints, having something in common with each of his four other brothers (such as Ikki's aggressiveness, Shun's tenderness, Shiryu's intelligence and Seiya's dynamism). There are considerable differences between his characterization between the anime and manga versions: Anime: During the galactic tournament, he is presented as an arrogant character, proud of his strength and his power as a Bronze Knight, not hesitating to demonstrate such abilities without much difficulty by defeating Ichi of Hydra and challenging his future companions, Seiya and Shiryu for a possible future confrontation with either of them. Hyoga learned that only the Knights had the power to save his mother's ship and that this was his motivation to become a Knight. Camus and his training partner Isaak saw that such personal ideals, driven by selfish feelings, would inevitably lead to death, because the most important thing for a Knight is to be completely detached from feelings and emotions on the battlefield. His love for his mother is his greatest weakness. Since then, Hyoga has been involved in situations and confrontations that test his feelings, from facing his master Camus (who sank his mother's boat) and his old friend Isaak (who had saved his life and lost an eye for him).
