Okarun is a short, thinly built teenager with brown hair (black hair in the anime), brown eyes, and wears round-framed glasses. Originally, Okarun's hair was styled in a bowl cut, but has since become unruly following his confrontation with the Flatwoods Monster. Although initially very thin, Okarun has since gained toned muscles as a result of his dedication to strength training and the numerous battles he faced dealing with spirits and aliens. While she is one of the few characters that can be seen wearing a variety of outfits, her most common outfit is her school uniform, which is a typical gakuran outfit.

personality

Okarun is a self-described socially awkward individual who has a devouring interest in the paranormal, with his main focus being the existence of aliens and cryptids. This interest dates back to his childhood, when he attempted to contact aliens in a desperate attempt to make friends, having grown up without a single one in his life due to constant bullying. As a result, Okarun developed an inferiority complex where he believes that he is unable to fit in with others or that people are better off not associating with him. Even after befriending Momo Ayase, Okarun still seems to retain some low self-esteem. After Jiji came back into Momo's life, Okarun thought to himself that he couldn't compete with him when it came to being his friend based on his observation of how entertaining Momo was around him and had almost come close to ending his friendship with her so as to not be a nuisance. According to Momo, Okarun's real problem when it came to making friends was that he was too quick to make assumptions about others' judgment, resulting in him unconsciously keeping others at a distance. Okarun is an altruistic person who believes that it is only right to help others when they are in trouble. A notable example is when he offered Mr. Mantis Shrimp his kintama to sell in order to gain funds for his son's blood transfusion. As a friend, he is fiercely loyal and protective as he will not let others get away with harming those he has formed a bond with, such as when he furiously attacked the Evil Eye for harming Momo and taking over Jiji's body. Before learning that spirits actually walk among the living, Okarun was skeptical of their existence as he believed that there were logical explanations for why people would jump to the conclusion of this paranormal activity.

Okarun is also formal to a fault, as he never dares to address his friends or allies by their given names or nicknames without adding a polite suffix. The only exception to this is Jiji, as the latter will ignore him if he does so. It is because of this characteristic that Momo was able to tell that Reiko Kashima was impersonating Okarun, due to her referring to Jiji as "Jiji-san". The only time he pays no heed to formality is when he changes into his Turbo Granny form.

Grandma Turbo's Spiritual Power Okarun possessed the spiritual power of Turbo Granny after Seiko and Momo extracted the yokai's consciousness from his body. Initially, Okarun was only able to enter this mode while still cursed by Turbo Granny and with the help of Momo's psychokinesis powers to suppress the curse from his head, allowing him to control his body. After the yokai's powers were accidentally left within him, Okarun was able to enter the transformation voluntarily. Upon accessing this power, Okarun's hair ignited and turned white, he gained two thick vertical stripes across his eyes, and had a noticeable dark jaw mask with a row of multiple teeth. Beneath his clothing, Okarun's body was given more muscular definition, while also forcing his posture to become hunched, and the nails on his fingers and toes became sharper and turned black. The clothing he chose to wear was also slightly altered to become flame-like. Okarun's mental state also changed in addition to his physique, giving him a depressing personality and a strange tendency to say "I" at the end of his sentences. Okarun in her Turbo Granny form. Enhanced speed Okarun's Turbo Grandma (anime) This state granted Okarun the extraordinary speed of Turbo Granny, allowing him to run at an incredible speed of 100 km/h. Okarun referred to this top speed as "going full speed" (本気, Honki ? ). After assuming the form for the first time, Okarun's body reacted quickly enough to move out of the way of the Flatwoods Monster's attack after it came within a few seconds of crushing him. As the Land Spirit Crab gave chase, he was able to cover some ground in Shono City and managed to avoid being caught by the land spirit. After Aira took a hit from Bamora, Okarun was able to quickly catch up to her from a considerable distance away to save her just in time to be hit by another attack. This speed also allowed him to keep up with and overwhelm the likes of Evil Eye, a formidable yokai who had proven on multiple occasions to be too difficult an opponent to fight alone. In terms of combat rhythm, Turbo Granny proclaimed that its speed should allow Okarun to perform five different actions in a single time.

weakness

Okarun was limited to using All-Out for only two sprints, as the intense supernatural speed put too much strain on his human body. Once the limit was reached, Okarun ended up reverting back to normal and was barely able to move for a short period of time. However, after further training to adapt to the form, Okarun's body no longer ached after reaching his limit, though this drawback was likely to return if he ran for too long. Okarun was also unable to swim, as Turbo Granny did not possess the capabilities to do so.
