The army consists of three main units, each of which plays a different role in the struggle for the survival of humanity: 1. The Military Police are an elite unit that guards the inner wall and serves the royal family. It is considered a prestigious, but passive service, and only the best graduates of the cadet corps are accepted into it. The military police has a bad reputation, as their soldiers often abuse their power and neglect their duty. 2. The garrison is the main defensive force defending the walls of Mary and Rose. 3. The Survey Corps is the only unit that actively goes outside the walls to explore the world outside and try to find a way to defeat the titans. The Survey Corps is the most dangerous, but also an important unit, as they are engaged in reconnaissance and risk their lives to provide humanity with hope for the future. Levi is the captain of one of the units of the Survey Corps and is considered the strongest soldier mankind has ever known. To fight titans, people use maneuverable equipment that allows fighters to move quickly in three-dimensional space, attaching themselves to objects and walls using cables and gas cylinders. The maneuverable equipment is equipped with blades specially designed to defeat Titans - the only vulnerable zone of these creatures is located on the back of the head.
