Persona Attributes

At first glance, Hu Tao appears to be a quirky and cheerful girl. She likes to play pranks on people and despises sitting around doing nothing. She wants to live her life to the fullest. Her eccentric and eccentric personality often leaves people with a negative impression of her, especially Qiqi, who claims that she has a "punchable face" and should be kept in the refrigerator. [2] In contrast, Xiao enjoys his sense of humor, finding him irritating but interesting. [3] On the other hand, when dealing with funerals and last rites, she becomes more solemn and constantly reminds her employees to never deviate from customer requests. Due to the importance and traditions of the salon's duties, she expresses disgust towards people who treat her or her employees with suspicion whenever they go to work at night. [4] Despite his negative impressions, Hu Tao knows the adepti and Liyue's past well, having suspected Zhongli of being an adeptus. [5] However, she usually keeps this a secret from those who do not know for her own safety. Hu Tao accepts death as a natural part of life and tells others to enjoy their short lives. However, she tends to be too excited about death for the means of increasing business. [6] She also detests those who attempt to prolong her natural lifespan, such as Baizhu [7], although she does not appear to be aware of their intentions in doing so. She also appears to show a lack of interest in her Pyro Vision.

Appearance: Bright scarlet eyes with white, flower-shaped pupils; faded red makeup painted on the corners of her eyes; and long, dark brown hair fading to crimson at the ends.

At first glance, she appears to be an eccentric and cheerful girl. No one would think that she is actually the renowned and illustrious Hu Tao. Whether she is acting as the Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor or as the "famous" poet of Liyue Harbor, Hu Tao's nature is extremely eccentric. Like lightning or sparks of fire, she always comes and goes in the blink of an eye, setting everything around her on fire. She writes poems in midnight oil and flies across mountains and seas in daylight. She appears at any time and in any place. From busy streets to barren alleys, to deserted mountains and desolate peaks, in bright and shining skies, or shadowy and starless nights... Anything is possible—anything can become full of wonder. Hu Tao is an indecipherable enigma, but people do not lament the lack of an answer. If asked, they would say, "That's the natural order of things, right? After all, no one can outrun the wind or hold a flame!" She walks the fine line between life and death, taking on responsibilities unknown to most mortals. Be careful around Hu Tao, lest she deceive you!

The 77th Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, a young woman who manages the funeral parlor’s operations. Despite her position, she is a kind person who does not play dumb. Her antics are as abundant as the sand in Yaoguang Shoal. She never fails to shock people with her countless bizarre ideas. Hu Tao may seem all play and no work, spending every free moment on leisure and being widely considered a laissez-faire businessman. It is only during funeral ceremonies, when she personally leads her undertakers through lamp-lit alleys, that she shows her dignified and solemn side.

Character Story 1:Funeral ceremonies allow mortals to leave this world with dignity. And it is said that Liyue's Wangsheng Funeral Parlor is putting the last traces on people's life scrolls in the most respectful way. Traditional funerals include several steps, such as the wake, burial, placement of a memorial plaque... All of which are subject to strict rules. Regardless of their social status and wealth level, everyone who passes away deserves a ceremony that honors them. This is the customer service philosophy of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. One would think that such a respectable organization should be led only by an individual of extreme knowledge and sagacity. However, the heavy mantle of the 77th Headmaster fell onto the shoulders of a young girl like Hu Tao. She has a good reputation in Liyue. Whenever someone mentions Hu Tao, her neighbors find it extremely difficult to conduct the conversation. While she is widely praised for her intelligence and cunning, her eccentric notions are not as welcome, as she often lets her imagination run wild. At three, she was reading volumes of classical texts while doing handstands. At six, she was skipping school and sleeping in coffins. At eight, she began living in the living room and learning the etiquette of funeral ceremonies... No one would ever use the word "measure" to describe their behavior. During her teenage years, Hu Tao was tasked with conducting a funeral ceremony for the first time. The funeral directors and consultants in the hall were waiting for his debut with their stomachs in knots, as if they were suspended above the peaks of the Jueyun Karst.

Character Story 2:Fortunately, Hu Tao treats the salon's operations with the utmost importance and is always looking to expand his business. "At Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, the living give us Mora to see the dead on their way. We have a responsibility to both parties, so we have to ensure that both sides are happy." When it comes to the rules of the hall, Hu Tao knows them like the back of his hand. Every day when the salon closes its doors, Hu Tao invites consultants from different walks of life to pass on their teachings to funeral directors. "Funeral tradition is like science. It cannot be carried out based on personal impressions and habits." Of all the lecturers, Zhongli is the most revered. As such, his lectures have proven to be the most effective in cultivating the competence of the funeral directors at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Although Hu Tao often teases you because of your old-fashioned style, he is also the person she trusts the most. Furthermore, Hu Tao always instructs his funeral directors to respect their clients' wishes and not insist on any specific form of funeral. "Some clients want nothing more than a peaceful ceremony, some opt for a more lively style of event. There are also wealthier clients who would request a more lavish funeral arrangement. The services we offer must be tailored to the clients' needs." Since Hu Tao took over, the hall's operations have been solid and reliable, with ceremonies conducted so tactfully that many superstitious people in Liyue have changed their attitudes towards funerals.

Even so, Hu Tao still has a tendency to get lost, disappearing as soon as his undertakers are busy listening to lectures. This young director's hobbies and interests are as eccentric as her personality, but it's hard to say for sure whether these activities are purely leisurely in nature. Hu Tao's shadow can be seen on the moonlit docks or on the highest, most precarious mountain vantage points, where she is likely to enjoy the scenery and shape her thoughts into beautiful poetry. She loves to roam free at night, seeking inspiration. When it strikes, no matter where she is, she can't help but compose a poem on the spot. If they are very lucky, traveling merchants resting in the Huaguang Stone Forest may spot a mysterious girl enjoying herself in solitude. Hu Tao can play a four-player card game unaccompanied for hours on end. That said, the joys of engaging in such activities remain a mystery to everyone except Hu Tao herself.

Character Story 3:The Ministry of Civil Affairs is guarded by two lifelike stone lions, a symbol of power and authority. However, Hu Tao, who happened to be passing by the ministry building one day, saw them in a different light. At first, she examined the lions with a thoughtful look, but soon, her thoughtful face gave way to a wide smile as she patted their front paws. From that moment on, Hu Tao often visited and caressed the stone statues. She not only talked to them, but also gave them pet names — Whiskers for the one on the left and Mittens for the one on the right. Sometimes she would even bring a bucket of water and a large brush to bathe them, each movement so careful and deliberate that one would think they were her real pets. As it happened, another feline, a living and breathing tabby cat, could be found enjoying local delicacies in front of Xinyue Kiosk, not far from the ministry building. One day, some townspeople came to play with the restaurant's favorite, providing an interesting contrast to Hu Tao's quirks. Facing the spectators' confused gazes, Hu Tao displayed unwavering confidence. "Sure, your kitten is cute, but the same can be said about my Whiskers and Mittens. Their fur may be rougher, but they're still just as cute! Any animal that brings people joy can become a pet." And when it comes to majestic looks, your little furball just can't compare to my lions!" Suffice to say, this explanation was met with even greater consternation by viewers.

However, the group of people most shocked and most frequently seen by Hu Tao's antics were the ministry guards. Soft footsteps could often be heard in front of the building around midnight. Initially, guards suspected it had been a thief preparing to rob officers. To her ceaseless surprise, she would turn out to be just a young girl playing with the stone lions. The guards were faced with an even greater conundrum when, after everyone had reluctantly gotten used to her presence, Hu Tao stopped his visits. This meant that the responsibility for cleaning the statues fell once again on the shoulders of the guards. Subsequently, they decided to stand guard for the lions for many days, anticipating Hu Tao's return. When they finally had the opportunity to ask her why she wouldn't visit anymore, they received the most absurd of answers. "Whiskers and Mittens are adults now and can take care of themselves! Excuse me, I'm late for my heart-to-heart with the Statue of the Seven [sic] about the meaning of life!"

Character Story 4:Shortly after her first encounter with the little zombie, Hu Tao decided that, as her self-proclaimed true friend, she should grant Qiqi eternal peace. Hu Tao would kidnap Qiqi several times, after much deliberation in each case, including calculating the most auspicious time for the ceremony, with the aim of following the standard cremation procedure, after which she would place Qiqi in a tomb on the outskirts of the city. In fact, she would have already succeeded if not for Baizhu's timely interventions. Every time the Bubu Pharmacy owner managed to catch up to them, Hu Tao already had Qiqi packed in a bag, with only her head sticking out, looking on in utter confusion as Hu Tao vigorously dug a hole for the pyre. Afterwards, Hu Tao sent Qiqi an apology letter, in which he expressed deep regret for not being able to get Qiqi to rest quickly enough. In Hu Tao's eyes, Qiqi had passed away a long time ago, but she was trapped in this world and could not free herself from her eternal suffering. Baizhu, in turn, became increasingly relentless in his pursuit of eternal life after meeting Qiqi. This act of defiance against the cycle of life and death was unacceptable to Hu Tao. She wanted to bury Qiqi not only out of consideration for her friend, but also to restore the natural order. But Qiqi couldn't disagree more, as she was afraid of death and disliked Hu Tao for his attempts. As the fight between Hu Tao and her had already lasted for so long, Qiqi experienced a breakthrough. She began to remember places where she could hide to avoid being captured by Hu Tao.

Because the fight between Hu Tao and her lasted so long, Qiqi experienced a breakthrough. She started to remember places where she could hide to avoid being captured by Hu Tao. Perhaps it was due to these desperate efforts for survival that Hu Tao decided to do something unusual and delve deeper into Qiqi's past. The story of his accident and the mystery of the adept... This series of coincidences filled Hu Tao's heart with hesitation. Since Qiqi's will to live is so strong, she shouldn't be forced to move forward. Given the circumstances, it could only be treated as a rare exception that escapes natural laws. Since then, Hu Tao's attitude towards Qiqi has changed drastically, to the point where she starts to spoil her. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done and Hu Tao has become Qiqi's bogeyman. The little zombie may need a few more years to let go of his sorrows.

Character Story 5:Hu Tao is not, in fact, best known for her role as a director, but for her other great accomplishment: the creation of poetry. She calls herself the "poetry of the darkest alleys," and free verse flows freely from her mouth whenever she has free time to go out on the streets. "Hilitune" is Hu Tao's most famous work, loved not only by the people of the port, but also by the children of Qingce Village. Amateurs and critics were greatly surprised by the simple yet profound originality of "Hilitune" and its creation, and flocked to Wanwen Bookhouse to search for the works of this great poet. Unfortunately, Hu Tao's anthologies, called "Fiddlesticks" and "Of Common Lives" respectively, have not yet been published. Xingqiu, always immersed in books, also wanted to meet this strange person, and so he chose an auspicious date to visit him, bringing a gift with him. The two hit it off immediately, and they exchanged tips and improvised poetry in the main hall of Wangsheng—and when confronted with Xingqiu’s traditional and artistic poetry, Hu Tao always managed to reciprocate with some weird and wonderful verse. And there was a meaning to the chaos, indeed, a bizarre rhythm that anyone could perceive, and it was captivating too. Thus, she “beat the old master with untrained fists”, leaving Xingqiu speechless. Eventually the poetry discussion ended amicably, and they have been friends ever since, reading and composing poetry with each other when they have time to meet. Over time, Chongyun was also called upon to serve as a referee, and his laughter filled the streets. The poems born from these sessions would also be recorded by the spectators. If you've ever heard a pair of verses combined, one rigorous and the other playful, you've probably heard one co-created by Hu Tao and Xingqiu.

Harmony Hexagram Hat: This hat is a bit stiff, and the insignia of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor adorns its front. It is said that this hat was passed down from the 75th Director to Hu Tao. However, this director was large, muscular, and had a head at least two sizes larger than hers. In the end, Hu Tao had to spend an entire day and night to modify the hat with her own hands so that its dimensions would fit hers. When she meets others, she tells them: This hat is magical, it upholds good and repels evil, and it is a bringer of peace! The undertakers laugh and leave it at that, but the 77th Director clearly values that hat. No matter the rain or storm, or if Hu Tao returns late covered in mud, that hat will remain spotless and clean. The plum blossom that adorns the side of the hat was picked from a plum tree that Hu Tao planted and cultivated herself. The process of creating it is as follows: pluck and air dry, then paint, varnish and carefully contour before drying in the sun for three days and voila — a beautiful accessory, soft to the touch and with a delicate fragrance.

Vision: This story was supposed to start with Hu Tao's grandfather's funeral. Ten days before the actual funeral, Old Man Hu passed away after a bout of illness. For its 75th director, Wangsheng Funeral Parlor held a grand funeral in accordance with the old man's own last wishes, to be conducted by Hu Tao. Only thirteen years old at the time, Hu Tao, who would later become the director, made all the arrangements herself, to the highest standard, greatly impressing the undertakers. After the funeral, thirteen-year-old Hu Tao grabbed her travel bag and set off alone in the dead of night. In her bag were only a few rations, some water, and a means of creating some light. She was heading to a mysterious and rarely seen frontier. Heading straight from Wuwang Hill, one can reach the “border.” It is the line separating life and death, the secrets of which have been managed by Wangsheng Funeral Parlor for generations. According to legend, it is a place where the souls of past relatives and the spirits of those with unfulfilled aspirations linger. For Hu Tao, this journey was a chance to see his grandfather one more time before he departed forever. For two days she traveled incessantly before finally reaching her destination, but she was unable to locate her grandfather upon arrival. Among the countless spirits she walked, but none of them resembled the old man. She lay there all day before falling asleep exhausted, waking to a night sky and heavy dew. Around her were gathered a few lonely spirits, clapping their hands and laughing: "Silly girl, why would Old Man Hu be here of all places? What were you thinking, looking for your relatives here?" Not someone who was easily swayed, Hu Tao continued to wait, day after day. Her rations gradually disappeared and her water supplies were drained, but her grandfather did not appear. In the end, it was an old lady who came to her.

She looked at the exhausted Hu Tao and smiled as she spoke, "Look at your stubbornness, you're just like Old Man Hu. It's a pity, but none of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's Directors would ever stay here. You come from a family of plain talkers, so let me return the favor… Go back. Go back to where you came from." The old woman bid farewell to Hu Tao, before passing through the boundary and walking away. Hu Tao watched as the mysterious woman’s figure diminished and disappeared, as a sense of doubt tinged with relief surfaced. Finally, she came to the conclusion: her grandfather’s absence was due to him having crossed the border as soon as he arrived, to the place where he was destined. He had been open and honest in life, leaving no regrets, so was it right that his departure should be framed in terms of regret? With a smile, she set off on the return journey. The distant moon had been casting a faint light on the path, but it had now been replaced by the bright light of dawn. As he walked, Hu Tao thought of a saying his grandfather used to quote: “Live in life, die in death. Follow your heart, do what you can.” It was noon when Hu Tao arrived home. She jumped over the wall into the back courtyard, went straight to her room, and unpacked her suitcase. With her food and water long gone, and the rest of her belongings unpacked, the bag she had taken for empty contained a colorful Vision. When exactly had she arrived? As one of the few living people who dared to visit the border, perhaps Hu Tao's actions had moved some unknown god. Perhaps this would then constitute a heavenly gift... the ultimate recognition of his strength.

What is a Vision?:Visions are jeweled amulets that allow their wearers to directly channel the power of one of the seven Elements. They are granted by Celestia and the Seven Archons to allogenes, people of Teyvat with particularly powerful desires[1] who have the potential to ascend to Celestia and become gods.[2][Note 1] Aliens who achieve their goals will cause the gods to receive an "abundant" gift.[3] Conversely, evidence suggests that a person deprived of their Vision also loses this ambition, which can cause them to undergo a major personality change.[4] In the top left corner of the character menu is an icon representing a playable character's Vision or equivalent, with their element denoted by the gem and their in-game nation denoted by the decorative design around the gem. This icon is present even for characters who do not use Visions and characters with non-standard Vision designs.

The giving and receiving of Visions was established as part of a "new order" upon the world, along with the ascension of the Seven. This new order was created to suppress the original order of the world in place of the absolute authority of the Celestial Principles, which could no longer maintain after being grievously wounded during the "great war of vengeance".[3] He and another unidentified entity created the Seven Gnoses from the remains of the Third Scion,[5] then instigated the Archon War.[Note 2] Once the Seven were established, they were given the stolen portions of elemental Authorities, which the Celestial Principles had taken from the Seven Sovereigns when they first descended upon Teyvat.[6] The Seven were also given the duty of bestowing a Vision—a fragment of their power—as a "gift" to anyone whose powerful desire or ambition had "stepped upon the threshold of the sacred".[3] The destinies of Vision bearers are mapped by their constellations,[7] and the stars that form these constellations are called Stella Fortuna. Under abnormal circumstances, a person's constellation can affect the world thousands of years after their death.[8] There are suggestions that these so-called "destinies" may be intentionally engineered: the gods supposedly gain something when Vision bearers successfully accomplish their goals,[3] while statements by certain Fatui Harbingers claim that "the skies of Teyvat are false"[9] and that "the stars are a lie".[10] Similarly, the Narzissenkreuz Ordo believed that to obtain a Vision is to "sell oneself to the 'fate' of this world—the Heimarmene".[11][Note 3]

While a Vision allows its user to harness their respective element, it does not grant instant mastery over elemental energy,[12] and using elemental energy requires practice.[13] As a result, there is a wide variety in the ways people express their elemental powers, as well as a wide gulf in combat ability. For example, Shenhe combines his Cryo Vision, training in the adeptus arts, and innate destructive power to freeze an entire tsunami,[14] but Yaoyao, another adeptus disciple, has only been shown to channel her Dendro powers through the external device Yuegui. Sight-wielders can channel elemental energy through mundane objects, as Charlotte does with Monsieur Verite, a custom-made camera gifted to her by her father.[15] When Fischl obtained her Sight, she subconsciously manifested Oz,[16] whose appearance is based on a character from her favorite novel series, Flowers for Princess Fischl.[17] In cutscenes and other official media, characters have demonstrated more uses for their Visions than the gameplay allows. Ningguang can teleport and summon the replicas of Guizhong Ballistae built in the Jade Chamber using Geo energy,[18] and Mona can teleport herself and those she touches using her Hydro Vision.[19] When Tartaglia uses his Hydro Vision during Phase 1 of Enter the Golden House, he has several abilities unused by his playable version, such as generating a Hydro Shield and summoning a massive Hydro Whale. In the manga, Jean and Amber simultaneously infuse Jean's sword with Anemo and Pyro while defeating the Ruin Hunter-ified Krupp, Kaeya creates ice barriers, and Amber summons a Pyro shield to protect herself and Collei from Barnabas.

Those with Visions have some level of elemental sensitivity and Elemental Sight, although some characters are more sensitive to the elements than others. [20] [21] The Visions themselves can also resonate with other sources of elemental energy, which makes them glow. [22] [23] In the manga, Jean's Vision suddenly begins reacting with something, causing dandelion seeds to emerge from her Vision, [24] but this phenomenon is never recognized again. Sight bearers are also able to breathe underwater in the waters of Fontaine. [25] [26]
