May is a Pokémon coordinator from Petalburg City and is the daughter of the gym leader there, Norman, and sister of Max. At first, she didn't like Pokémon, but she started to after becoming interested in Pokémon Contests. May likes to have cute and cute Pokémon on her team to participate in contests. The first Pokémon she captured was a Wurmple, which evolved into a Beautifly. After entering the contests, she gained rivals, such as Drew (her main rival, who often helps her and gives useful advice, although he always tries to provoke her), Harley and Jessie, from Team Rocket. May travels alongside Ash, Max and Brock in Hoenn and Kanto, however, later, while the friends decide to go to Sinnoh, she decides to continue the journey in Johto. However, she visits Ash, Brock, and Dawn in Sinnoh shortly after the Wallace Cup. She chose Torchic as her first Pokémon and Squirtle as her first Kanto Pokémon.
