May (Pokémon)

May (Japanese: ハルカ Haruka) is a young Pokémon Coordinator, daughter of Petalburg City Gym Leader Norman, and sister of Max. She meets Ash Ketchum and Brock in Hoenn and begins traveling with him after obtaining her first Pokémon, Torchic, which soon evolves into its next two stages. May is a Pokémon Coordinator of Petalburg City and is the daughter of the Gym Leader there, Norman, and sister of Max. At first, she didn't like Pokémon, but she started to like it after becoming interested in Pokémon Contests. May likes to have cute and fluffy Pokémon on her team to participate in contests. The first Pokémon she caught was a Wurmple, which evolved into a Beautifly. After entering the contests, she gained rivals, such as Drew (her main rival, who often helps her and gives her useful advice, although he always tries to tease her), Harley and Jessie, from Team Rocket. May travels alongside Ash, Max and Brock in Hoenn and Kanto, but later, while her friends decide to go to Sinnoh, she decides to continue the journey in Johto. However, she visits Ash, Brock, and Dawn in Sinnoh shortly after the Wallace Cup. She chose Torchic as her first Pokémon and Squirtle as her first Kanto Pokémon. May is generally very sweet, funny, caring, thoughtful, kind-hearted, and a brave person. But sometimes you have a real confident type of person.
