Babydoll

After Babydoll's mother died, Babydoll's stepfather discovered in her mother's will that his wife left everything to her two daughters. Apparently enraged that he had worked so hard to marry the woman (and perhaps planned her death) only to have nothing left, he grabbed a bottle of Paradise rum and drank it. He got so drunk that he went to the girls' rooms, and just as Babydoll was leaving her sister's room, he decided to attack Babydoll. He was unsuccessful and so turned his attention to Babydoll's sister. He locked Babydoll in her room and then went to his younger stepdaughter. Babydoll, in a panic, escaped from her temporary cell by climbing out the window and found her stepfather's .45 caliber pistol. She stopped her stepfather as he broke into the closet where her sister had locked herself. Frightened by the sight of Babydoll with a gun, he tried to reason with her, but she fired a shot that nearly hit his left arm. She fired again, the bullet piercing his flesh, but the bullet ricocheted, hit a steam pipe, broke a light bulb, and then fatally hit her little sister. Babydoll wept over her sister's body, horrified at what she had done. Frightened and furious, she went to her stepfather who was trying to call the police. She pointed the gun at him, but failed to kill him. She dropped the gun and fled the house. Her stepfather called the police, who arrested the distraught Babydoll at her mother's grave. She was then taken to Lennox House for the Mentally Insane. Having avoided taking responsibility for his own part in the murder of his youngest stepdaughter. During her time at the asylum, Babydoll retreated into a fantasy world in which she was a newcomer to a brothel owned by Blue, a mobster rather than an orderly. While there, she befriended four other dancers: sisters Sweet Pea and Rocket, Amber, and Blondie.
