Persona Attributes

Appearance

He is a man of average height, with a fair complexion and grey eyes. He has a sharp look and no eyebrows, his hair is a warm grey which he keeps short. His bangs are parted parallel to his forehead in two thick locks, one in the centre and one on the left side of his head. One of Sanemi's most prominent features is his remarkable physique and the numerous scars that run across his face, chest and arms which he does not hide and keeps as a reminder of how hard his job is and of which he is proud. Regarding his attire, it consists of the Demon Slayer uniform, being in his case a customized version of his uniform which is black dyed green, having the upper part of it unbuttoned, exposing his torso and his multiple scars. He also has a white jacket, as well as keeps his sword Nichirin on his belt. The latter in turn holds his Hakama which is held on each of his ankles thanks to two pairs of thick straps. Later between the arcs of the Functional Recovery Training Arc and the Pillar Training Arc, Sanemi cut his hair leaving only the center bangs. During the battle against Kokushibo, Sanemi loses the index and middle fingers of his right hand.[4]

Personality

Sanemi is abrasive, passionate, reckless and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to attack. He is usually indifferent towards others and can get angry very easily. The only person Sanemi showed reverence to was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing that the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also shown a hunger for battle, wishing he could encounter the Demons that are part of the Twelve Demon Moons and proclaiming his eagerness in fighting Kokushibo, the Upper First Moon. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is a result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who have passed away, like his mother, he can't help but give her a smile so he can see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Hunters in searching for him, Sanemi repeatedly ignores him and lashes out at any chance of seeing him, but Tanjiro Kamado is able to tell him that Sanemi didn't really hate him; and in fact he still felt the same brotherly love that he had for her in childhood. However, this was never openly expressed as he tried to get Genya away from him and the Hunters so as not to be exposed to danger.

Persobality

Due to all the losses he suffered in his childhood, Sanemi maintains a deep hatred towards Demons and everything they represent, having the strong conviction that humans and Demons do not deserve to coexist peacefully. When she makes a decision on this issue, it is extremely difficult even for her fellow pillars to change her mind about her decision. In order to prove his point, he ignored Tanjiro's words regarding the fact that his sister Nezuko was incapable of feeding on humans and in order to prove his point, he risked his physical injury by injuring Nezuko inside her wooden box[5] and even provoking her with his blood to invite her to attack him[6]. Even after she doesn't, and Kagaya uses this as proof that Nezuko won't attack humans, Sanemi doesn't really accept the Kamado brothers.

Personality

However, his behavior is not entirely negative towards his younger brother Genya. This is because as shown by Tanjiro, Sanemi genuinely cares for his brother Genya and his decision to get involved in something as dangerous as Demon hunting, acknowledging that it was his fault for not being able to protect him when he needed it the most, going so far as to express his wishes that Genya would have left the organization in order to live a normal life and start his family. After the battle against the First Upper Moon that ended with the death of his younger brother, Sanemi shows not only great anger and emptiness towards Muzan, but also greater cooperation with people like Giyu, someone he clearly did not get along with in the past. Even when Sanemi walks out of the battle against Muzan, he displays undeniable courage and determination, much like his fellow Pillars. After the final battle against Muzan, Sanemi has softened a bit in his personality, showing a more caring and friendly side by smiling alongside Giyū, something he didn't usually do and to everyone's surprise, Sanemi shows a tender side towards Nezuko by apologizing for his rude behavior in the past. It gets to the point where he smiles at her and pats her on the head, while seeing Genya in the way she responds.

Skills

Breath of wind Breathing styles are swordsmanship techniques practiced and taught by Demon Slayers. Breathing styles make use of specific, concentrated breathing patterns that increase lung capacity and the amount of oxygen in the blood. This allows the user to hone their physical abilities and mental focus to the point of being able to take on demons. Full Focus Breathing is the state when a breathing style user takes in the maximum amount of oxygen within a specific breathing pattern to increase their strength and mental capacity to their maximum limit. First Form: Dust Whirlwind Cutter: The user lunges forward in a cycle of slashes. Second Form: Claws-Purifying Wind: The user raises the sword upwards at a right angle and performs a vertical slash downwards creating four blades of wind that cut the opponent as if they were claws. Third Form: Clean Storm Wind Tree: The user uses their arm to slash around their body to create a whirlpool that cuts through everything in its path. Fourth Form: Rising Dust Storm: The user swings their sword downward from various directions. Fifth Form: Cold Mountain Wind: The user slashes from above while falling in a multitude of curved slashes. Sixth Form: Black Wind Mountain Mist: The user slashes from the side, while twisting their body into a stance to deliver an upward strike, creating a slashing tornado.

Skills

Seventh Form: Gale - Sudden Gusts: The user leaps into the air while swinging their sword, generating winds that cut through their opponent. Eight Form: Primary Gale Slash: The user leaps into the air and swings his sword, generating circular torrents of air. Ninth Form: Idaten Typhoon: The user performs a backflip and while in an inverted position in the air, waves his sword to generate a circular whirlpool of air. Demon Slayer's Mark Demon Slayer's Mark A mysterious mark that can appear on the body of a powerful Demon Slayer. The mark appears on Demon Slayers who have survived life-threatening conditions, more specifically surviving having a heart rate of over 200 bpm and a body temperature of 39° Celsius. It is necessary for the person to be directly related to Breath of the Sun. Sanemi obtains the Demon Slayer Mark through resonance with Tanjirou during his fight against Kokushibo, the Upper Moon One. The mark greatly increases the user's abilities, giving them strength and agility comparable to an Upper Moon. Crimson Red Nichirin Blade: Allows the user to imbue their Nichirin in a red color, giving the user the ability to weaken the regeneration of demons. It takes great grip strength to perform this feat without outside aids. Sanemi is able to revert his Nichirin back to red during his fight against Kokushibo, after clashing weapons against Himejima's. Sanemi repeats this action with Giyuu's sword during the final fight with Muzan.
