Appearance 👤

Kyoka is a petite, fair-skinned girl with a slender build. She has triangular onyx eyes with noticeably long lower eyelashes and small eyebrows. Her dark violet hair is chin-length, with asymmetrical bangs that have two soundwave-like highlights on either side. Her most prominent features are the flexible, plug-like headphone jacks hanging from each of her earlobes; they act as additional limbs that she can control at will and change their length if she so chooses. After the Paranormal Liberation War, she gains a small scar on her right headphone jack. During the Final War, her left ear and headphone jack are blown off by All For One.

Hero costume 🦸

Her heroine costume initially consists of a black leather jacket, a long salmon-colored shirt with several rips at the collar and hem, black pants, and boots with boom boxes built into their shafts. She also has two small triangular red paint marks just below her eyes, a simple black choker, and white fingerless gloves. Later on, her costume includes a pair of headphones with two armbands that function as amplifiers, and she changes her face paint to two larger chevron-shaped markings. Shortly after the Final War, Kyoka uses a prosthetic limb in place of her left ear and headphone jack. Eight years later, Kyoka has grown up and her costume has been updated again. It now consists of a sleeveless black jacket over her shirt, a new pair of headphones over her prosthetic left ear, and two medium-length black bands for her amplifier jack.

Personality 💜

Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, gruff, and teasing personality which she primarily displays towards those she finds irritating, such as her classmate Denki Kaminari, whose lack of knowledge makes him an easy target for her snide remarks. However, Kyoka is not always like this, as she enjoys socializing with others, in which case she is usually pleasant and friendly, most notably towards Momo Yaoyorozu and the other girls in her class. Kyoka often gestures through her elongated earlobes instead of her hands. She can also be quite aggressive, evidenced when she uses the headphone jacks provided to her by her Quirk to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line, most notably Denki and Minoru Mineta. During hero activities, however, Kyoka prefers more clever approaches, usually coming up with a plan herself. She is surprisingly organized and makes sure to convey her ideas in a way that is easy to understand. Despite appearing cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive towards her friends, empathetic towards others' feelings, and getting flustered when her talents and abilities are mentioned. While Kyoka is difficult to fluster or surprise, she is afraid of horror-based activities and has an aversion to nudity. She is also somewhat self-conscious about her appearance and gets noticeably upset when Minoru doesn't see her as attractive. Like her parents, Kyoka has a keen interest in rock music and owns several instruments that she can play to a certain extent. However, she initially seemed to be a bit embarrassed by her interests, because she perceived them as something completely unrelated to heroism, but thanks to a great performance during the UA School Festival, she was able to overcome that mindset.

General Abilities: While not often employing the efficiency of hand-to-hand combat, Kyoka makes effective use of her wielding of her Quirk, the Headphone Jack. She utilizes the prehensile nature of her whip-like Headphone Jack Quirk, and uses the sound-generating effects of her Quirk to shock targets with vibrations, effectively stunning and sometimes defeating them. By the time of the Provisional Hero License Exam, Kyoka enhanced the effectiveness of her Quirk, allowing her to plug her headphone jacks into the ground and generate sound waves strong enough to shake the ground, cause fissures, and disrupt large enemy formations. Despite her unenthusiastic demeanor, Kyoka is quite intelligent, having placed seventh in the midterms, proving her academic ability. She is also quite strategic. Kyoka is very musically talented and is able to play the bass, which is her preferred instrument along with the guitar. She can also play other instruments such as the drums, but only to a limited extent. Her singing voice is described as "husky, yet heavenly."

Earphone Jack: Kyoka's gift is that she has a pair of earphone jacks hanging from her earlobes. When the jacks are plugged into something, Kyoka can channel the sound of her heartbeat through them in the form of a violent vibration attack. She can stretch her earlobes several meters. This gift also allows her to hear minuscule sounds and vibrations from her surroundings. As part of her training, Kyoka perfected her headphone jacks by repeatedly drilling them into a stone cliff, all to increase the amount of audio she can hear with her Quirk.

Ultimate moves 🎧

Counterbalance: By plugging her connectors into the legs of her hero costume, Kyoka sends out a powerful sound wave from the amplifiers in her legs that cancels out other sound-based attacks. Heartbeat Distortion: Kyoka connects her connectors to special sound amplifiers on her forearms, slams the amplifiers into the ground and channels a powerful sound wave, shattering the ground due to the vibrations. Heartbeat Surround: Connecting her connectors to special sound amplifiers on her forearms, Kyoka uses her elongated earlobes to remove the amplifiers from her wrists and direct them at her target at close range, releasing a powerful short-range sound wave to incapacitate them. Legato: Kyoka performs her Heartbeat Surround movement on a larger scale, with more power and more sound generated. Heartbeat Wall: Similar to Heartbeat Surround, Kyoka once again plugs her connectors into her forearm amplifiers and uses her earlobes to remove them and point them at a target, but instead channels her heartbeat to form a wall of sound that blocks and impedes the movement of her enemies.

Amplifying Connector: Devices that Kyoka can connect her connectors to, further amplifying the sound and vibration of her heartbeat. She wears these on both of her forearms. Stereo Boots: A pair of boots that Kyoka can connect her headphones to. These boots amplify her heart rate and can direct the vibrations in a certain direction. Headphones: A device that presumably supplements the ability of its connectors to pick up sound vibrations. Ear Prosthesis: A device that serves as a replacement for Kyoka's missing right ear and headphone jack, presumably replicating an artificial version of her earlobe to complement her Quirk. Though it is unknown if it possesses the ability to extend and retract like her original headphone jack.

UA Academy Information 🏢

The UA Academy is an academy where students learn and train to become Heroes. It is one of the main settings in which the history of the world takes place. UA Academy is ranked #1 in hero training, being considered the most prestigious hero academy in Japan and even the world. Many highly regarded and recognized heroes were trained at this academy, some examples are Best Jeanist the current number 3 hero, Endeavor the current number 1 hero and All Might the former number 1 hero and Symbol of Peace. Here, students are separated into specific departments and classes: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K. Structurally, UA Academy features an entrance with a security wall dubbed the "UA Academy Barrier," which automatically closes if a person does not have a student ID card or special entrance ID. Over the course of history, many precautionary measures have been taken to keep both the press and villains out of the institution. The UA Academy has an admission system divided into two parts, a written exam and a practical exam. Because they receive thousands of applicants each year, they use a ranking to rate the best applicants in positions to accept them, the main focus falls on the practical exam precisely because of the above, because in this way they can measure the physical aptitudes of each applicant as well as the use of their Quirks and their attitude in the face of a dangerous situation. As a consequence, the admission rate to the academy is incredibly low, it was mentioned that in the previous year's exam in which Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo participated, they had a passing percentage of less than 0.02%. Despite this, the academy allows the entry of students through recommendations, either because they are children of a hero.
