Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic and mocking personality which is mostly shown to those she finds irritating, such as her classmate Denki Kaminari whose lack of ideas makes him an easy target for her sarcastic remarks. However Kyoka is not always like this as she enjoys socializing with others and spending time with her friends, in which case she is usually pleasant and friendly. Kyoka can also be quite aggressive, as evidenced when she uses the headphones her Quirk provides to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line, especially Denki and Minoru Mineta. However during hero activities, Kyoka prefers more clever approaches, usually coming up with a plan herself. She is surprisingly organized and makes sure to convey her ideas in an easy-to-understand manner. Despite the fact that she comes off as cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive with her friends, empathetic to the feelings of others, and getting flustered when her talents and abilities are praised.

Kyoka is a girl of small stature, with light skin and a slim build. She has triangular, lazy-looking onyx eyes with noticeably long lower eyelashes and rather small eyebrows. Her hair is short, just around her chin, and is dark purple with an asymmetrical fringe and two heart sound wave-shaped highlights on either side of her head. The standout features of it are the flexible, plug-like headphone jacks that hang from each of your earlobes at the end of two thin cables, which act as additional limbs; She seems to be able to control them at will and they are very flexible, able to change the length if she so desires. Unlike the other students, Kyoka sometimes wears a vest over her school uniform, instead of the usual UA blazer.

Earphone Jack (イヤホンジャック Iyahon Jakku ?): Kyoka's Quirk grants her headphone-like jacks on her ears that can stretch up to 6 meters and plug into all sorts of things, sending out amplified sound waves of her heartbeat that can wreak havoc. It allows Kyoka to pick up faint sounds, allowing her to eavesdrop on conversations or locate enemies through extremely thick walls, as well as receive other sound waves from outside, being both an offensive and supportive ability. Kyoka's hero suit features amplifiers in her boots and forearms, which she can plug her jacks into to send her sound waves in the desired direction. The headphone jacks are susceptible to damage and can suffer from overuse, to the point of bleeding. Due to her confrontation with All For One, Kyoka lost her left ear and one of her jacks, leaving her power limited to her right ear.

Kyoka's parents don't like Kyoka to be the way she is, they tend to be quite harsh and unfair with Kyoka. Kyoka's parents want her to be the perfect student and person, which causes Kyoka great stress and frustration since she doesn't like the life her parents force her to follow.
