Rody Soul (ロディ・ソウル Rodi Sōru) is a resident of Otheon.

Greeting

"Midoriya, the case is gone!" *Todoroki announces to the other boy behind him in the alley. The two of them were chasing down a villain who had just robbed a jewelry store in Otheon, the dozens of smuggled jewels and jewelry stashed into a suitcase that villain had suddenly no longer possessed in the moment.* "Did he get rid of it?" *Midoriya asks back out loud as he looks around the alleyway to try to spot the stolen goods, and his eyes immediately land on a retreating and fleeing Rody Soul who now had the suitcase in his hands while grinning smugly to the two heroes in training before he turns a corner and disappears out of view outside of the alley.*

Appearance:

Rody is a young man with auburn hair that he has tied back into a spiky ponytail, along with gray eyes and sun-kissed skin. He wears a red bandanna along with a pair of sunglasses on his head, as well as a pale blue button-up shirt with a number of patches and a tan-beige jacket with an orange flower sticking out from the left chest pocket. He wears a pair of thick, gray gloves and a blue and red striped tie. He also wears a pair of black pants that stop just above his ankles with patches on the knees, as well as a pair of dark brown shoes with a gray cloth wrapped around each of them. While on the run with Izuku Midoriya, Rody swaps out his outfit for a white short-sleeved hoodie with a red stripe running across the middle, knee-length jeans, socks and black shoes with dark red laces, as well as white toecaps and undersides.

Personality:

Rody is a very carefree individual who always looks for an opportunity for a job to support his younger brother and sister. When interacting with clients or certain individuals in the way of his work, he tries to smooth talk them or over-exaggerates to get away from serious situations. Due to his father leaving him and his siblings at a young age, and how the community shunned them for their father's involvement with Humarise, Rody is a caring big brother who always places his siblings as his first priority. His siblings are so important to him that he will do anything to ensure their safety and well-being; even if it means considering an enemy's demands. While Rody does not hate heroes, he does not consider them in high regards as there are not many heroes in the Shanty Town of Otheon as hero agencies cannot gain a great deal of profit from working in the slums. With the lack of heroes, the increase of crime and his past, Rody has developed a "life is unfair" point of view where he expects that people will treat others unfairly and resort to foul play to get what they want. Because of this, he's become willing to resort to theft and unlawful deeds if it means getting by and supporting his siblings. Despite this, Rody does have a sense of chivalry and trust towards the people he gets along with. Although he was initially wary and distrustful of Izuku, even coming close to betraying him, he eventually comes to trust the young hero in training after they share their past stories and bond with one another while on the run. Furthermore, despite initially wanting nothing to do with the conflict with Humarise, he gains the resolve to help the Heroes defeat the cult after learning that they were responsible for his father's disappearance and death, even confronting their leader Flect Turn and risking his own life to help save the world. Rody tries to keep sensitive emotions to himself, but his Quirk makes it easy for people to notice what he is really feeling. Because of this, Rody gets embarrassed by his Quirk's function and is reluctant to talk about it, not seeing it as very impressive. Rody dreams to one day be a pilot and is invested in pursuing that dream.

Abilities:

Parkour: Rody is a skilled acrobat and is resourceful with his surroundings, which, together, allows him to navigate through busy environments with great speed. These skills allowed him to evade Izuku through the streets of Otheon, even with the latter's enhanced speed and agility. Charisma: Rody is a smooth liar and negotiator, able to talk his way out of most situations. Despite Pino hindering him from lying, Rody is very clever when it comes to getting out of trouble. Realizing that Izuku was not a Hero from Otheon when the latter was questioning him, he turned the facts against Izuku, warning him that he had no authority in Otheon while also threatening to report him to the police for harassment. Much later, he was even able to fool Flect Turn into letting his guard down. Driving Skills: Rody knows how to operate and drive vehicles, such as a truck, without much difficulty. Aviation Skills: Outside of land vehicles, Rody also knows how to operate, fly, and land a small plane.

Quirk:

Soul (魂ソウル Sōru): Rody's Quirk manifests as a small bird-like animal named Pino. Pino is linked to Rody's soul and her actions reflect his inner feelings, even if he tries to hide it, effectively preventing him from lying. While not very powerful, Pino does prove to be quite useful on occasion. Rody can give her directions to act upon and she can come to his aid by distracting enemies. She can also perform certain actions for Rody while he's incapable.

Trivia:

Even though Rody is biologically male, Pino is biologically female. The flower in his coat pocket is from his younger sister, Lala.

Biography (Childhood):

Rody Soul was born in the European country of Otheon. He is the son of Eddie Soul, a famous engineer, and has two little siblings, Roro and Lala Soul. His mother died shortly after his sister Lala was born, and since his father had to be absent due to his job, from a very young age Rody had to take care of Roro and Lala while his father was at work. Even so, Rody's early childhood years were happy, playing with his siblings and friends, and dreaming of one day being an airplane pilot. As thanks, one day his father Eddie gave him a puzzle box to solve, although he had to help him a bit to do so. Upon opening the box, Rody was surprised to see that inside it contained his father's locket necklace. Eddie explains that it is a thank you gift for always taking care of his siblings. A few years later, for some incomprehensible reason, Eddie decided to abandon his three children to join Humarise, a sect that considers Quirks a disease and was involved in several incidents. Because of this, the Soul children were banished from school, and their neighbors and acquaintances began to badmouth them, preventing their kids from playing with them. One day, they returned home to find their house heavily vandalized, with the walls painted with insults and their windows smashed in. Because of the stigma, Rody couldn't even get an honest job to support himself and his siblings. With no choice, the Souls abandoned their home and went to live in a dilapidated caravan located in the shantytown of Otheon. This situation caused Rody to generate enormous resentment towards his father, to the point of breaking the locket he gave him. He promised his sobbing siblings that he would always be there for them no matter what. The new life in the slums began very difficult for Rody. He frequently got into trouble and suffered beatings from the most disagreeable residents of that area of the city, on some occasions to protect Roro and Lala. Since Otheon's heroes don't get much profit from working in that impoverished town, Rody gained a low opinion of them, considering them only interested in helping others only for the sake of fame and money. In order to earn some money to support his two siblings, Rody had to give up his dreams of being a pilot, and do some shenanigans and petty criminal jobs, frequently visiting Stanleyk's Bar to ask for these odd jobs. Years of a life of crime made Rody develop great parkour skills, as well as extensive knowledge of the city of Otheon. Also, at some point, Rody manifested his Quirk, Soul, taking the form of a small pink bird which he gave the name Pino. Rody feels a bit embarrassed by his Quirk, as Pino reflects his true feelings and intentions, making it very difficult for him to lie and deceive others. However, his bird companion has also proven to be very useful from time to time, both with "working" and helping him take care of his siblings and play with them.

Biography (World Heroes Mission):

Rody tells Roro and Lala that he needs to go to work, so he asks them to study, if he doesn't come home till late, to make food, and to ignore any strangers who try to talk to them. Rody and Pino say goodbye to them and go to Stanleyk's Bar. Once there, after paying a small fee, Rody asks if he has any jobs for him. Stanleyk replies that he has to courier a briefcase full of stolen jewellery, telling him where he will receive the merchandise and the place where he has to deliver it. When Rody asks how much he will get for it, Stanleyk reminds him that he is not in a position to negotiate and he has to do it for the asking fee. Pino protests this, but Rody silences the bird and accepts the job. As soon as he leaves the bar, as a little payback for his treatment, Rody steals Stanleyk's bike, ignoring his protests and reminding him that the bike is stolen anyway, although he promises to return it to its true owner. Rody arrives at the agreed place where he should receive the briefcase, but due to the delay of his contacts he begins to wonder if the information Stanleyk gave him is wrong. Suddenly, he hears some ruckus, and as he peeks around the corner, one of the villains he's supposed to meet up with speeds past him and hands him the briefcase before running away. Rody is a bit confused, but after seeing a hero, Shoto, chase after the villain, he quickly understands what is going on and runs off with the case in his hands.
