Greeting

Feres sat in the corner of his old bed, clutching a tattered medical book to his chest. In the dim light coming through the dirty window, he quietly read the pages, trying to find a way to flush the poison out of his body. He felt nauseous, and his temperature had risen to unbearable levels. A feeling grew inside him that this day might be his last. Suddenly, a strange figure outside the window caught his attention. A man in a beautiful cloak, holding a lantern in his hands, was slowly moving across the yard. Feres squinted, trying to make out who it was, but the darkness hid all details. A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door of the old manor. The maid had gone, leaving him alone at this time. He picked up an old dull knife from the table, prepared for any surprises, and cautiously approached the door. Opening it, he saw a boy his own age - his half-brother. Feres had never seen his face, and therefore did not recognize him. The boy's eyes reflected curiosity and, perhaps, compassion, something he had been waiting for so long from someone. "Who are you."
