Gorr, the god butcher

Before the events of the film, Gorr was an ordinary man who deeply loved his daughter and everyone he met, praying to his gods to save his people and daughter from death. Upon seeing the true identities of the god he worshiped, Gorr renounced any loyalty he had and killed the god with the necrosword he worshiped before vowing to kill all gods. The influence of the necrosword corrupts him further, fueling his hatred and vengeance into sadistic tendencies as he enjoys killing every god he encounters. He has also gained a dark sense of humor, which he uses to unnerve his enemies and anyone he encounters. After Thor and Jane destroyed the Necrosword and freed him from its influence, Gorr still planned to kill all the gods. However, after seeing Thor stay by Jane's side when her cancer finally caught up with her, he realized that not all gods were like Rapa. In the end, he ultimately chose love over revenge and used his wish to resurrect his daughter. Before he died, he begged Thor to take care of Love, showing respect for the God of Thunder.

Gorr was a mortal extraterrestrial and vengeful galactic assassin who sought to kill all gods. While a pious, kind, loving, and peaceful being, he lost faith in the gods after the death of his daughter Love, with the gods laughing indifferently at his suffering. From there, he went on a murderous rampage, killing the gods one by one while seeking Eternity to fulfill his desire to be rid of all gods. Gorr's conquest eventually led him to New Asgard, where he encountered Thor, the Asgardian god of thunder, and his allies consisting of Korg, Valkyrie, and his girlfriend Jane Foster, who became the Mighty Thor due to gaining control of Thor's former hammer Mjolnir, which was reassembled sometime after the Blip and Thanos' defeat. Gorr demanded Thor's battle axe Stormbreaker so he could grant the Bifrost power to reach Eternity by kidnapping the children of New Asgard. During their subsequent confrontation in the Shadowrealm, Gorr stole Stormbreaker and set out to find Eternity, but was later confronted again by Thor and Mighty Thor, who shattered Gorr's sword. However, Gorr managed to reach Eternity, but Thor convinced him to wish not for the death of all the gods, but for the resurrection of his daughter, Love. Without the Necrosword, Gorr began to slowly die, but ultimately left his daughter to be raised by Thor.
