Aqua

Base Description

Aqua is one of the main protagonists of the KonoSuba series and with whom Kazuma started his party. Before she went to the Parallel World, Aqua was a Goddess of Water who guided young Japanese to the Afterlife, as well as the goddess worshipped by the Axis Order.

Appearance

Described by Kazuma as possessing beauty no human could match, Aqua has light blue hair and eyes, a slim figure with large breasts, long legs, wide hips, and blue waist-long hair that is partially tied into a loop with a spherical clip. Her B-W-H measurements are 83-56-83 cm (33/22/33 in) and she is 5'2" (157 cm) tall also she weighs 132lbs. (59.9kg). Aqua uses a sleeveless dark-blue vest with white trimmings, a short dark blue miniskirt, a green bow around her chest with a blue gem in the middle, a translucent purple underskirt, and detached white sleeves with blue and golden trimmings. She wears thigh-high blue heeled boots over white stockings with blue trimmings.

Personality

Although she looks dignified at first, Aqua is the opposite of what is expected of a goddess, being sloppy, cocky and ill-mannered. While she can be motherly, Aqua is insulting and not tactful, often offending people because she doesn't think before speak. Moreover, while she often calls Kazuma a "shut-in NEET", Aqua is a good-for-nothing as well, as she spends most of her time doing nothing or getting wasted (although Aqua is more party-loving than him), and is easily influenced by both Kazuma and Cecily's bad behaviors. Also, due to her low Intellect, Aqua is absent-minded, heedless, forgetful, and unable to understand complex conversations or situations, nor read the room. Her low intelligence, combined to her poor luck, are the reasons why most of her ideas and actions end up in a "critical failure". Aqua is, however, very intuitive and astute, guessing correctly what her party's antics,[3][4] as well as thinking fast in the rare occasion she is focused.[5][6] Furthermore, Aqua is a crybaby. Since she is oversensitive and prone to fear, Aqua always cries when she is scared, upset, or traumatized. Also, like a child, Aqua fakes crying sometimes to get what she wants[7] as well as throws a tantrum.[8] In addition, like a kid, Aqua is wasteful, being a bohemian who spends all her money partying and getting drunk, with no thoughts for tomorrow. Yet, as an adult woman, she is very sensitive to hints about her age.[9] Like her followers, Aqua is a scammer too, as, while in Heaven, she used to conceal information about the Parallel World to convince the recently-deceased Japanese to reincarnate there.[1] Aqua also supports her followers' schemes, even taking part in such scams during the Eris Festival.[10] She is even willing to shallow her pride and deceive strangers for just a few bucks.[11] However, as a goddess, Aqua is very self-centered, stubborn and spoiled, often expecting to be praised and pampered by those around her due to her status, although no one believes her. Aqua also tries to act more dignified when she recites her Order's unusual doctrine. Aqua is greedy as well, often trying to get a bigger share of her party's rewards, and the promise of a big reward is sometimes her only motivation for getting off the couch. Also, like other gods, Aqua despises both demons and the undead, reason why she constantly antagonizes with Vanir and exorcises Zeeleschilt. However, unlike other gods like Eris, Aqua is way more flexible, as she is able of sympathize with undead like Keele,[12] , apologize to the Succubi[13] and even got attached to both Wiz and Anna, although Aqua keeps bullying Wiz. She takes seriously her job as goddess of guiding dead souls to the Afterlife. Aqua is a very loyal person as well, to both her followers, even risking her life in order to protect them; and her party, as she never considered abandon Kazuma, even for Mitsurugi's promises of comfortable life,[14] and was willing to live as a fugitive with Kazuma when he was about to be sentenced to prison.[15] As long as Aqua is having some fun, she will stay by Kazuma's side, for richer or for poorer.

Kazuma Satou

Kazuma met Aqua first before anyone else in the newly reincarnated Parallel World. Originally, Aqua didn't think much of Kazuma when they first met besides being hilariously pathetic, but after being forced to come with him into the Parallel World, she holds contempt towards him while also having to depend on him. Even though Kazuma finds Aqua annoying and often useless, the two are inseparable and are almost always seen together. In return, Aqua sees Kazuma in a similar light and often calls him a Shut-in NEET (hiki-neet). While they often argue and point out their respective flaws (usually ending with Aqua crying), they rely on and care for each other more than they would like to admit. For example, Aqua shows visible concern when Wiz uses Drain Touch on Kazuma for the first time and when she attempted to break him out of jail when he was arrested under charges of assassination. Throughout their adventures, Aqua has tried to get Kazuma to respect her as a goddess. One example is how Aqua feels that Kazuma should show her more respect, considering how often she resurrects him. Regardless, she also addresses him with honorifics like "-san" or "-sama" depending on the situation and would often turn to him when facing any grim situation. Although they have been together the longest, their relationship thus far remains the only one that is completely platonic on both sides.

Megumin

They get along well as fellow party members and are also quite alike in some ways, allowing them to sympathize with each other even when not adventuring. When Kazuma stops accompanying Megumin to cast Explosion at Verdia's castle, Aqua secretly goes with her instead, suggesting a good bond between the two.

Darkness

They get along since Darkness is another party member. Despite this, they have seldom interacted with each other. Darkness seems to trust Aqua's intuition, sharing her unease when they come across Mitsurugi. Aqua isn't bothered by Darkness's masochism.

Wiz

Aqua likes to make life difficult for Wiz, often going to her store to purify items and slander them outside their shop. She also rubs holy water on the shop's door handles, scalding Wiz's hands in the process. Despite this bullying, Aqua is genuinely fond of Wiz. She often visits the lich's shop whenever she is bored and states that she doesn't want to kill Vanir because it would make Wiz sad.

Eris

Aqua is Eris' senior as a goddess. She knows of Eris' breasts pads, as well as her secret trips to the Parallel World. Aqua doesn't particularly like Eris and is envious of the latter for being the more worshiped of the two, even though Eris is considered to be a lower-class goddess. Aqua is known to be teasing her junior goddess and sees her as a child. It seems that Aqua and Eris have close relations due to Aqua revealing that there is a devil-may-care side to Eris and knowing that she pads her chest. However, it seems that Aqua does have slight care for her junior goddess as when Eris was struggling with her divine duties, Aqua did help with some of her work. Of course, she does tease Eris about this saying that she is hopeless without her.

Cecily

Since Cecily knows Aqua's real identity, she is very loyal to Aqua, acting as a humble servant and both praising and following her orders. However Cecily exerts a bad influence over Aqua, unconsciously using Aqua to realize her own wishes, as well as spoiling and inflating Aqua's ego. Also, on their duo, Cecily is usually the smartest one, since Cecily is the one with more common sense and quick thinking.
