Geography

The Pure Heart Valley is a densely forested region. It is also moderately hilly and surrounded by high mountains.

Pure Heart Kingdom. The throne room of the royal palace

The Pure Heart Kingdom is home to the Darlings, a colorful race of small animals ruled by King Aristomagnus. They are very friendly and peaceful people, but most of them lack any combat ability and are unable to defend themselves. However, there are Darlings who are capable of combat, the most notable example being Adorabat.

Ruby Pure Heart. The damaged Ruby Pure Heart

The Pure Heart Ruby is a gigantic, heart-shaped crystalline object that sits atop the kingdom, protecting the Darlings with its magical cloaking power. After Mao Mao accidentally knocks it over, the Pure Heart Ruby gains a star-shaped crack on its surface and no longer functions. This, however, does not stop Monkey Snake, who still tries to steal it in his quest to rule the world. In the episode "Monkey Snake, The Beginning", it is revealed to have mysterious magical properties, as it released a beam of energy that transformed the Sky Pirates' Flying Ship into a mechanical titan. Later, in "Mock Till You Drop", its energy affected Adorabat, giving her powers to transform it into energy blasts capable of hurting people and destroying buildings, but taking control of it.

Darlings

The Darlings are a breed native to the Pure Heart Valley. They resemble a variety of "cute" animals, such as cats, dogs, and rabbits. Darlings also have somewhat abnormal features and body proportions (for example, most Darlings only have 4 toes). Monsters

Monsters are a recurring species throughout the series. They are primarily a threat to the residents of Pure Heart Valley, but not all of them are belligerent. History Monsters may have existed long before the establishment of the Pure Heart Kingdom. Pure Heart Valley has traditionally been protected from monsters by the Pure Heart Ruby, which acts as a cloaking device. When Mao Mao accidentally damaged the Pure Heart Ruby, the kingdom became visible to the outside world. Because they have lived peacefully for so long, the Darlings are unable to defend themselves and rely on Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat for protection against the hungry monsters that are now capable of attacking the Kingdom. However, in some other areas, monsters that the other inhabitants know can be tamed and will not attack unless provoked. Known Monsters Large Dinosaur Monster The Large Raptor Monster appears in "I Love You, Mao Mao", where it fights and is defeated by Mao Mao shortly after the latter falls into Pure Heart Valley. The creature resembles a large, bird-of-prey-like dinosaur that is primarily magenta in color, with a yellow belly, a reddish-orange beak, a light purple crest on its head, and medium purple spikes running down its head and back. It has a long tongue and is apparently capable of spitting acid. The monster later reappears in "Super Kill Blast", where it "speaks" through the use of a translator collar developed by Badgerclops in his Ultra-Focused state.

Small Dinosaur Monsters

The Small Raptor Monsters appear in "I Love You, Mao Mao", albeit very briefly. They resemble the Large Raptor Monster fought by Mao Mao in the same episode, except they appear to have a more slender build, making them resemble small lizards or snakes with legs. Also, unlike most monsters in the series, they appear to be somewhat timid, as they do not attempt to attack the newly visible Pure Heart Valley, nor are they seen being fought by anyone.

The Tapir Monste

The Tapir Monste is depicted during a flashback in "The Perfect Adventure", where he can be seen fighting Mao Mao and Badgerclops. Tapir Monster The Bug Monsters are brown mantis-like creatures that live beneath Pure Heart Valley. They appear in "The Perfect Adventure", where they attack Mao Mao and his friends. These monsters are also briefly seen in "Trading Day", but only in Adorabat's imagination, as she was merely attacking (and eating) common cockroaches. Ant Monster Slime Monster The Slime Monster is a large pink blob that appears in "My Enemy". Although initially dormant, it awakens after its puddle is disturbed. This monster can rapidly shapeshift to mimic its opponents, rendering direct attacks largely ineffective. The Slime Monster is also highly absorbent, expanding greatly when it comes into contact with a large body of water. Unlike other monsters, the Slime Monster appears to possess a modicum of intelligence, as it is shown to understand Badgerclops to some extent, as well as dance with him. Adorabat defeats the monster during her magic show, when it explodes in an attempt to imitate her disappearing act. It is unknown whether the creature was actually destroyed or if it was merely reduced to small pieces. Rock Monster The Rock Monster is a large, quadrupedal monster that appears to be made of stone. It appears in "The End", where it is attracted to Adorabat's fireworks. It is incredibly durable, and it took the combined efforts of Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat to create a new attack, which defeated it.

Side view of the monster Side view of the monster 6 rockMonster Giant Scaly Monster The Giant Scaly Monster was briefly seen in "I Can Do It Myself". It was quickly defeated by Mao Mao after he fell on his head while wearing leg weights. This creature is also briefly seen in "Bobo Chan", where Badgerclops envisions the episode's titular character floating in the monster's mouth. Amphibian Monster Colossal Monster The Colossal Monster is a large, peach-colored salamander-like creature that appears in "Ultraxugo", where it attempts to eat the Pure Heart Ruby before being stopped by a giant-sized Badgerclops. Giant Magic Monster Mao Mao and his friends approach the monster as it attempts to eat the Pure Heart Ruby. Ankylosaurus Monster The Ankylosaurus Monster appears in "No Shortcuts". Like a true ankylosaurus, it has a spiked shell on its back and a spiked ball on its tail. The monster is quickly defeated by Adorabat and her Mega Machine. Ankylosaur Monster The monster is frightened by the explosions of Adorabat's stray rockets. The Impressosaurus Impressaur Main The Impressosaurus is a large, black, dragon-like creature with red stripes and wings on the sides of its head. He appears in "Not Impressed", where he is seen terrorizing the Darlings by shooting molten projectiles like fireworks from his mouth. The Impressosaurus is easily killed by Mao Mao, with the help of Badgerclops and Adorabat.

O Impressossauro

The Impressaur Impressaur Main The Impressaur is a large, black, dragon-like creature with red stripes and wings on the sides of its head. It appears in "I'm Not Impressed", where it is seen terrorizing the Little Darlings by shooting molten, firework-like projectiles from its mouth. The Impressaur is easily killed by Mao Mao, with the help of Badgerclops and Adorabat. Mao Mao and the Impressaur Mao Mao fighting the Impressaur Scar Scar is a large, squat green dragon who appears in "Bao Bao's Revenge". It guarded the Amulet of Borflagon until Mao Mao and Bao Bao took it. The monster follows Mao Mao to Pure Heart Valley, but is defeated by the teamwork of Mao Mao and Bao Bao. Cave Monster Lizard Sucker The Lizard Sucker was seen in "The Stinking Truth", where it used its nostrils to suck Mao Mao and Adorabat into its nasal cavity. It resembles a purple quadrupedal dinosaur with small spikes running down its back. Big Nosed Monster Imaginary Monster The Imaginary Monster was seen in a hypothetical scenario imagined by Mao Mao in "The Treacherous Fox", where it gave a penniless Adorabat a coin, and then ate it. It resembles the Lizard Sucker from "The Stinking Truth", except that it is pink. Reptilian Monster Burp Monster The Burp Monster was mentioned by Mao Mao in "Popularity Contest". Virtually nothing is known about it, as it was an off-screen fight, except that Mao Mao reported that it was "killed". Raimundo Raimundo appears in "Popularity Contest". It appears to be a plump green lizard. The monster is lured to Pure Heart Valley by a trash fire and attempts to eat the Darlings upon their arrival. In addition to its large size, the creature has a long tongue that it can use to grab its prey. It is defeated by Mao Mao who uses Badgerclops' prosthetic arm to fire a laser from its mouth. Frog Monster Worm Monster The Worm Monster appears in "The Legendary Weapon", where it swallows Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat and attempts to digest them.

Carapace Monster

The Shell Monster appears in "Small", where Mao Mao's father, Shin Mao, tries to fight it, only to be knocked out of his mech suit; this leads Mao Mao to fight the monster alone. Shadow Dragon Lizard Monster The Lizard Monster appears in "Trading Day", in which he swallows several Darling children before being finally defeated by the renewed teamwork of Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat, who also manage to save the Darlings from being digested. Frilled Monster Hydra The Hydra appears in "Chef Chef", where it attacks the titular cooking competition in which Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat were competitors. Its dermis is green and resembles an artichoke. Like its Greek mythological counterpart, it has the ability to regenerate its heads if they are cut off, with the number of heads increasing with each decapitation. Unlike most monsters in the series, which are seen attacking the Pure Heart Kingdom without provocation, the Hydra presumably only attacked because its eggs were stolen to be used as the contest's main ingredient. This also implies that the Hydra will not attack people easily unless its offspring are stolen and/or eaten. Hydra A single Hydra head being scanned by Badgerclops A single Hydra head being scanned by Badgerclops Pig Monster The Pig Monster appears in "Pie Fever", where he makes two attempts to eat the pie stored in the Granary. During his first attempt, he is defeated by Mao Mao using a technique described in The Hero's Code. During his second attempt, he ate some of the pie and inexplicably grew larger in a flash of magenta energy. However, he was once again defeated by Mao Mao, who had achieved his Golden Truth Form.

Little Pie Monster

The Little Pie Monster is a (presumably) imaginary monster encountered by Mao Mao in "Pie Fever", where Mao Mao struggles to suppress his desire to eat pie, which is expressly forbidden by the Hero Code. Small Cobbler Monster Big Pie Monster The Big Pie Monster is a monster (which may or may not be imaginary) fought by Mao Mao in "Pie Fever", where Mao Mao confronts it inside an unknown part of the Pig Monster's digestive system. Ultimately, Mao Mao defeats the monster by admitting that he likes eating pie, at which point he devours the creature, achieving his Golden Truth Form. Cobbler Monster Astral Smoke Monster The Astral Smoke Monster briefly appears twice in "Floating", where it is encountered by Adorabat in the Astral Plane. She escapes the creature at first, only to encounter it again later. However, Adorabat eventually defeats the monster when she realizes that she must face her fear of the dentist. Smoke Monster Sound Monster The Sound Monster appears in "Floating", where it attacks Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and several Darlings, prompting Adorabat to leave the Astral Plane and help her friends defeat the beast. The monster apparently has hypersensitive hearing (presumably because it has six ears) and can use its mouth to emit a sonic pulse capable of breaking a tree. Adorabat uses its sensitive hearing against it, popping several balloons near all six of its ears, creating a cacophonous feedback, which appeared to be painful. Furry Monster Spiky Dragon The Spiky Dragon appears in Mao Mao's imagination in "Mao Mao Naked", where it attacks Adorabat and Badgerclops.

Monster Adenta

The Adentate Monster appears in Mao Mao's imagination in "Mao Mao Naked", when it eats Adorabat and Badgerclops. Sharp Teeth Monster The Flimborg The Flimborg debuted in "The Lonely Child" during Mao Mao's flashback. It is a white monster with a giant horn on its nose and a brown mane. It usually resides on a mountain near a Japanese-style town, and the townspeople seem to have tamed and befriended it. However, Mao Mao and Bao Bao accidentally provoke it and then catapult it into the unknown, as they both mistook it for a vicious creature. Flimbord Larva Monster The Larva Monster appeared in Mao Mao's flashback during "Fear of Puppets" as the second form of entertainment during Mao Mao's sixth birthday party. The Larva Monster briefly escaped its handler's confinement to (ineffectively) attack Mao Mao, who in turn was completely unfazed and even enjoyed the experience. Small Worm Monster Elephant Monster The Elephant Monster appeared in "Fear of Puppets", where it attacked Gary's booth of half-bald monkey puppets. It is a yellow monster resembling an elephant with crater-like protrusions on its back. Elephant Monster Purple Worm Monster The Purple Worm Monster appeared in Badgerclops' flashback during "Adorapai", when he told Eugene how he and Mao Mao used Adorabat as bait to draw this monster out of hiding. Purple Worm Monster Cave Dragon The Cave Dragon first appears in "Adorapai". It is a pale, eyeless monster with large teeth and two conical bioluminescent organs on its snout, which glow pink. It presumably killed Sonara when she tried to protect Adorabat from it. It attempts to attack Eugene, but ends up being crushed by pillars during a battle with Adorabat, Mao Mao, and Badgerclops. Cave Dragon Iguana Monster The Iguana Monster is a reptilian monster that has blue skin, black claws, and

mao Mao and two monsters: The Impressosaurus in "I'm Not Impressed" and Raimundo in "Popularity Contest". In the latter case, Mao Mao just called the monster "Raimundo" so he could find a rhyme for it in his song. Badgerclops named four monsters: Bobo Chan, Buttercup, Mr. Milkshake, and Cocoa Butter, all named in "Bobo Chan". The Belch Monster mentioned in "Popularity Contest" and the Flimborg from "The Lonely Child" may not count, as it was unclear whether "Belch Monster" and "Flimborg" were the names of their respective species or their proper names. Of all the Monsters that have made a physical appearance, only two have been identified by their species: the Jelly Monster from "The End" and the Hydra from "Chef". Before the Hydra's first physical appearance, Shin Mao mentions in "Small" that one of his daughters, Minori, had killed a Seven-Headed Hydra while she was baking a soufflé. Additionally, Hydra eggs were briefly featured in "Introducing Tanya Keys", where they were declared illegal. However, at some point before or during the events depicted in "Chef Chef", Hydra eggs were made legal, as mentioned by King Aristomagnus. Even before Hydra eggs were legalized, Tanya Keys revealed that there was a restaurant in the Pure Heart Kingdom that offered at least one dish containing them, though this fact was likely not openly publicized. The Flimborg is the first known monster in the series that is considered domesticated. The Lizard Sucker was originally going to dissolve into a skeleton in the "stink-swim". When its bones landed, its skeleton would be reconstructed with a xylophone. Obviously, this didn't make the cut.
