Little is known about Roughneck's past, other than that he was a wanted Akudama who received a suspended sentence of 967 years, making him the most wanted Akudama in Kansai. Before the events of Akudama Drive, Roughneck was captured. He was imprisoned, put in a straitjacket, and scheduled to be executed at a subway station. On the same day Roughneck's execution was to take place, several Akudama - namely the Doctor, the Hacker, the Brawler, and the Courier - received a request from an anonymous organizer to rescue him in exchange for a reward of 100 million yen.
