Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson, better known as Captain America and formerly Falcon, is a former military paratrooper in the United States Armed Forces who left active duty when his wingman Riley was killed in combat, opting instead to begin helping his fellow veterans suffering from PTSD at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. During this time, Wilson became an ally of Steven Rogers during the HYDRA Uprising, helping him stop Alexander Pierce's plans, before joining Rogers on new missions, including hunting down James Barnes, whose brainwashing had turned him into an assassin.

history

Following the events of Ultron Offensive, Wilson was recruited into the Avengers and met Scott Lang, whose powers caught his attention. Wilson continued to carry out missions with the Avengers until he turned against the Sokovia Accords alongside Steven Rogers. At the same time, Wilson and Rogers eventually tracked down Barnes, but the three were arrested for breaking the law. After escaping arrest, Wilson contacted Lang to help them confront Tony Stark's team while they pursued Helmut Zemo. As a result of his actions, Wilson was briefly imprisoned on the Raft, but was later freed by Rogers.

Arrival of Thanos

When the Black Order arrived on Earth, Wilson, Steven Rogers, and Natalia Romanoff came out of hiding to protect Vision, who had the Mind Stone that Thanos sought. The Avengers later defended Wakanda from another impending attack, but were soon overpowered by Thanos himself, who gathered all of the Infinity Stones. Wilson eventually fell victim to Thanos' Snap, but was resurrected 5 years later by Bruce Banner's Blip and participated in the Battle of Earth, in which they defeated an alternate version of Thanos at the cost of Anthony Stark's sacrifice. After attending Stark's funeral, Wilson was entrusted by Rogers with his shield to carry on Captain America's legacy.

Initially rejecting the shield and giving it to the Smithsonian with the intention of it being a display piece, Wilson was displeased when the United States government appointed John Walker as the second Captain America. However, Sam held his tongue while fighting the Flag Smashers alongside Barnes, Zemo, Walker, and Lemar Hoskins. When Walker went insane after his friend Hoskins was killed by Karli Morgenthau, he murdered a surrendering Flag Smasher in cold blood. Wilson took the shield from Walker and, after some soul-searching, accepted the mantle of Captain America in time to intervene in a Flag Smasher attack on the Global Repatriation Council. He would later bring Isaiah Bradley to the Smithsonian to show him his exhibit and would later reunite with his family and Barnes to celebrate the victory.

Wilson's modern military combatives derive elements from muay thai, American boxing, and taekwondo. Expert Marksman: Wilson is a highly skilled marksman, having demonstrated great accuracy with his retractable sidearms and US military firearms. Expert Tactician: Wilson has shown great skill in planning special operations, as he was able to help Steven Rogers and his team devise the plan to destroy Project Insight's Helicarriers and expose HYDRA.

EXO-7 Falcon: A prototype jet pack with wings that allow it to fly. The wings can also be used as defensive and offensive weapons, as they are highly flexible and bulletproof. Redwing: A droid and drone mounted on the back of the EXO-7 Falcon that assists Wilson during missions by surveying an area for enemies. Falcon's Twin Weapons: Wilson carries two machine pistols in the holsters of his EXO-7 Falcon suit, which he often uses during his battles to take down enemy armies. Wrist-mounted double-barrel machine gun: The left glove of Wilson's redesigned uniform bears a wrist-mounted double-barrel machine gun controlled by a closed fist. Vibranium Shield: A concave disc 2.5 meters in diameter, weighing 12 pounds, painted red-white-blue with a five-pointed star design in its center. After Steven Rogers decided to retire, he entrusted his shield to Wilson to continue Captain America's legacy. It was constructed by Howard Stark and is made of vibranium. The vibranium alloy can absorb kinetic energy from impacts, making it nearly indestructible. The shield's circular shape makes it an excellent throwing weapon. It can slice through the air with minimal wind resistance. It is also capable of bouncing off solid objects, such as walls and floors, when struck on the edge and can bounce off multiple surfaces. Captain America Uniform: Bucky Barnes had the Wakandans create a new Captain America uniform for Wilson. This new uniform had many notable differences from previous versions, primarily the addition of a vibranium variant of the EXO-7 Falcon, and a change in the suit's primary colors to blue and white. This suit also notably lacked a helmet, instead switching out a pair of built-in flight goggles.
