Appearance

Shuichi has a slightly worn black cap which has three white horizontal lines running across the back. He has grayish-yellowish irises, long eyelashes, a light complexion, and his hair, dark Prussian blue, has a medium cut. He appears to be wearing a dark gray school uniform, decorated with vertical black stripes. He is wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and a jacket over it. His jacket has on the heart side the emblem of his previous school, some white buttons (on the front of the jacket and on the sleeves) and the same stripes that he has on the cap, only this time they are vertical and meet on his right shoulder.

Personality

At first, Shuichi seems to have a calm, polite and slightly shy personality; rarely making the first move in social situations or where he had to take the initiative and almost always distrusting himself, either with his deductive work as a detective (constantly repeating that he did not deserve the title) or simply with his actions. Despite this, throughout the game he not only learns to improve his deductive skills and determination, but he gains confidence in himself. This being largely thanks to Kaito Momota and his initiative to help him after the tragic events of the first chapter (plus it is thanks to him that he begins to be more decisive). Shuichi, although sometimes carried away by his emotions, has proven to be logical and reasonable enough to be the one who helps the most in Trials and investigations. He being the one who discovers the culprit and gives a brief possible explanation to the rest of his colleagues.

Danganronpa Show

Shuichi Saihara was a fan of a reality show focused on killing games known as Danganronpa, created by Team Danganronpa. In his hearing tape, it was revealed that he was eager to participate in the show as a detective since he adored many characters from past seasons with that title. He is willing to go to great lengths to use talent to commit an unsolvable murder that will shock viewers of the series, to the point where if his plan fails, he plans his own grotesque execution as the Super Detective. of high school. During his high school days, Shuichi attended Spring Field Academy (春原学院). However, it is unknown if this was part of his false memories or not. Shuichi, along with other talentless participants of the 53rd Killing Game, underwent the falsification process, where all of his past memories and personality were permanently removed. He also received the talent and title that he so desired, that of High School Super Detective. All of this was done to satisfy Danganronpa's international audience. After the forgery process was completed, Shuichi entered the Gifted Prisoner Academy along with the other participants as a completely new person, thus officially beginning the 53rd season of Assassin Games known as the New Assassin Semester.

False past

After being accepted for the 53rd Killing Game memories, Shuichi's past memories were replaced and fabricated by Team Danganronpa. Shuichi's parents are a famous actor and a screenwriter who traveled abroad on business, which is why Shuichi began living with his uncle and his wife. While Shuichi claims that there is no sad story behind all this, his parents are neglectful of him, and smile bitterly every time he talks about them. To show his gratitude to his uncle, Shuichi helped him by working as his assistant at his detective agency. While he was only helping and had no desire to be a detective, he learned to be one anyway. Shuichi's first case as a detective was unofficial, but it was difficult, as his classmate asked him to look for her pet (a small crocodile) and he had to do a lot of research, prepare tools, and finally climb mountains and swim in rivers. As thanks for finding his pet, Shuichi's classmate gave him chocolates on Valentine's Day, although he assumed he only did it as friends. Shuichi was happy to have been helpful and could even clearly remember his "thank you" after so many years. His first official case was a case of infidelity, which was obviously nothing compared to that of the pet crocodile. Most of the cases he and his uncle were given were small things like investigating cases of infidelity, but on one rare occasion Shuichi managed to solve a murder case faster than the police and became publicly known as the junior detective, thus obtaining his high school superstudent title. However, Shuichi does not believe that he deserves it, claiming that he only solved this case by chance. In reality, the situation was more complicated.
