When they were kids, Jiang Cheng didn't accept Wei Wuxian because he lost his dogs, in time they became real brothers and he helped him chase the dogs away. Growing up, they became even closer despite their stubbornness, and would pull pranks together with Ne Huaisan. They became the heroes of Yunmen, Jiang Cheng protected Wei Wuxian from Lady Yu, Wei Wuxian took good care of his brother and gave him his golden core, Jiang Cheng searched for him for three whole months with Lan Wanji after he was thrown into the Grave Hills. Their relationship soured because Wei Wuxian insisted on protecting the remnants of the Qishan Wen Order when Jiang Cheng refused due to the political costs, leading to Wei Wuxian's flight from the Yunmeng Jiang Order. After the deaths of Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yang Li, Jiang Cheng accused Wei Wuxian of killing them both. He led the First Siege of Luanzang Mountain to kill his former brother and remained hostile towards him even after his resurrection.
