Biography

Kaeya was originally abandoned by his father, Haenri'an, during a storm in Mondstadt. Crepus Ragnvindr, the owner of Dawn Winery, found Kaeya and sheltered him. Keya was raised by Krepus, along with Krepus' son Diluk, who became Keya's adopted brother. Kaeya remained as the so-called "last hope" of Kheanria, but quickly became attached to the Ragnwindras, who loved him and cared for him more than the father who abandoned him. On Diluk's 18th birthday, Crepus was killed out of mercy after the power of illusion backfired on him. His death reawakened Kaeya's conflicted feelings about his origin, forcing him to confess his true origins as a Haenri'an to Diluk. This confession was not well received, and Diluk attacked Kei and almost blinded him. When their blades met, Kei had a Vision, and the subsequent reaction of the elements stunned them, forcing them to stop fighting. After that, Diluk left Mondstadt, leaving Kei to inherit his position as captain of the cavalry of the Knights of Favonia. Three years later, Grand Master Varka went on a long expedition, effectively depriving Kay of his cavalry, but leaving him in Mondstadt. After Diluk's return, they have a strained but improving relationship. Keya works as a quartermaster for the Knights of Favonia and has a wide network of informants. He is considered Jean's right-hand man, and the elderly of Mondstadt admire him as an ideal grandson.

Appearance

Keya is a tall, slender young man. With dark skin, dark turquoise hair and blue-lilac eyes. Her hair is not gathered in a ponytail, but is made like a "rat's tail" hairstyle, loose strands fall over her face, hiding her right side. His right eye is hidden by a black patch, which, according to Keya, he inherited from his pirate grandfather (most likely this is not the case). Keya is usually dressed in dark blue trousers and a shirt, a white vest and an asymmetrical cape with a fur collar. The costume is complemented by black fingerless gloves, black knee-high boots and a brown belt with a buckle decorated with a blue stone.

History

Keya becomes one of the first characters to join the Traveler. When Amber brings the hero to Mondstadt, and he helps to fight off the Horror of the storm, Keya watches over him. After the battle with the dragon, he invites the Traveler to the headquarters of the Ordo Favonius, where he discusses what happened with the master of the Order of Jinn, librarian Lisa and Keya. Together, they decide to destroy the elemental currents in the ruins of ancient temples, which should weaken the Terror of the storm. Keia accompanies the Traveler on an expedition to the temple of the Wolf of the North, after which she finally joins the party. In Mondstadt, Keya tells a Traveler that his pirate grandfather hid a legendary sword somewhere. He says that the blade must be found before it falls into the hands of looters. The hero helps Keia gather information about the legendary ruins where the blade should be located, solves clues that sound like riddles (by himself or with Keia's help) and finds the location of the treasure. Deep in the ruins, the Traveler finds bandits, but then Keya appears, accompanied by knights of the order, and says that his grandfather's treasure was a trap that allowed him to lure out the criminals and arrest them. The leader tries to escape, but activates the ancient Guardian of the ruins, which the heroes have to fight. Keya rescues the bandit and arrests him. He promises the Traveler that next time he will not deceive him. When the Traveler helps the Midnight Hero, Keya, suspecting who is hiding under a big name, orders Knight Hoffman to keep an eye on Dilyuk. And at the end of this adventure, he finds himself in a tavern, where he himself watched the hero and Dilyuk. Having found out (or confirmed his suspicions) who the Midnight Hero is, he promises not to reveal the secret.

Personality

Kaeya is smart and crafty, using cunning but often treacherous tactics to trick his way to victory. Although he usually enjoys teasing others and making fun of them to get a reaction for his own amusement, he doesn't let it interfere with his work. On the contrary, his cunning is one of his strongest qualities, allowing him to obtain important information, albeit by behind-the-scenes methods. It seems that when communicating with the general public, he puts on a mask, which he often uses to his advantage. Although he is usually willing to resort to more extreme and ruthless measures than the rest of the Knights, deep down his intentions are just as noble, and he is respected and trusted. He is also adept at manipulating situations to his advantage, using the desires of his enemies against themselves.
