Nemu Kurotsuchi
Nemu Kurotsuchi (涅ネム, Kurotsuchi Nemu?) is the current Vice-Captain of the 12th Division, as well as the Vice President of the Seireitei's Research and Development Department. By holding these two positions, Nemu becomes the most direct subordinate of the Division Captain and President of the Research and Development Department, Mayuri Kurotsuchi. He is both Nemu's father and creator, as he designed her from a combination of a Gigai and a soul modified with his own blood and molecular foundation. Nemu is a petite and attractive Shinigami with pale skin and shy, cautious gestures. Her expression is almost always sad or melancholic, and it is quite rare to see her smile or show any sign of joy in her characteristic green eyes. Her hair is a dark violet color, and she wears it very long, tied in a braid that runs along her entire back. Two locks fall over her temples framing her face, and bangs cover most of her forehead. As for her clothing, although it follows the basic patterns of the Gotei 13 Shinigami uniform, the truth is that Nemu is probably the one who has introduced the most customizations to her outfit. Moving away from the traditional black kosode and hakama, Nemu wears a kind of short kimono of the same color. Currently, Nemu is the only Shinigami (formerly Risa Yadōmaru) who wears bare legs, down to mid-thigh. In addition, she wears a wide white obi sash tied with a red cord around her waist instead of the more common sash belt, and mittens somewhat similar to Byakuya Kuchiki's on both hands. On her left sleeve she sports the bandana of her office, as do most Vice-Captains, and around her neck she wears a red choker. Her footwear is also radically different, including high-heeled sandals.
personalized by Nemu Kurotsuchi
Probably due to the abusive and disdainful treatment she is constantly subjected to by Mayuri, Nemu is a very shy and withdrawn person, who prefers to remain silent in the presence of her captain rather than expose herself to his wrath. Since she remains silent and expressionless whenever Mayuri is around, little can be said for certain about this Shinigami's feelings. However, her nature seems to be more compassionate than her father's, as seen once he was defeated by Uryū Ishida, even showing her gratitude for not having killed Mayuri. The most curious facets, and without a doubt the most unexpected of Nemu, are those that have been seen in the omake dedicated to the Shinigami Women's Association, where it has been seen that she has a "dirty and perverted mind" according to the comments of her companions and a certain ambition to become the next Vice President, replacing Nanao Ise.
Nemu Team
Sword: Nemu has a sword that takes the form of what appears to be a thin katana with a green hilt and a seemingly warped guard.
Nemu's Abilities and Powers
Bio-Augmentation: Nemu's biological structure has been artificially augmented; as a product of Gikon and Gigai technologies, she possesses several modifications and enhancements. These advancements have made her a highly adaptable and durable combatant. Enhanced Toughness: Her body was designed by Mayuri to have far more durability than a normal person's. She can take wounds that would be fatal to another person and survive, as demonstrated when she was stabbed by Mayuri during her fight with Uryū. [44] Mayuri himself noted that she was designed to take far more punishment than any normal human or Shinigami could handle. Enhanced Strength: Nemu has a substantial amount of strength, even by Shinigami standards. She effortlessly excavates Szayelaporro's hidden laboratory using only her bare hands. She can throw large blocks of stone with ease. She can effortlessly lift a large column over her head. Enhanced Speed: Nemu can move at high speeds, which she demonstrated when she attacked Uryū Ishida to determine if he still possessed his Quincy powers. When Bambietta Basterbine threw bombs at her and Mayuri, Nemu quickly grabbed Mayuri and moved him out of the range of the blast without either of them being harmed in the process. Her speed and reaction time are great enough that she can intercept a Heilig Pfeil in mid-flight by catching it with one hand. Poison Immunity: Nemu has the same blood as Mayuri, making her immune to the poison used by Mayuri's Bankai. Chemical Depot: Mayuri always keeps a variety of drugs stored within Nemu's body; as such, if an enemy consumes her or invades her body, she receives a dose of one of these drugs, which changes depending on what part of the body it comes into contact with.
Nemu's Powers and Abilities
Healing Factor: When Nemu is in a near-deadly state, Mayuri can revive her using his body modifications. Fail-Safe Involuntary Cell Division Accelerator - In order for Nemu to surpass the normal lifespan threshold of her Konpaku regenerative cells, an Involuntary Cell Division Accelerator (強制細胞分裂加速器, Kyōsei Saibō Bunretsu Kasokuki) was embedded within her pituitary gland. Fail-safe mechanisms were placed in the special organ to overcome its normal function. If the base nucleus of the brain is expelled, the organ can create a direct connection to the parietal lobe and take control of the body. If one were to consume the organ on its own without the brain, it would experience accelerated regeneration and eventually self-destruct from regenerating too much. Tedoriru (手ドリル, Hand Drill): He can spin his hand and forearm like a drill and move his arms at excessive speeds. This technique is capable of piercing through solid rock. Superhuman Strength: Although within 0.8% of her body's limits, Nemu possesses tremendous physical strength; the strength she possesses in her legs alone allows her to leap to great heights at incredible speeds with enough force to shatter the ground beneath her and destroy organic matter in her path. Konpaku Sessaku (魂魄切削, Soul Slasher; i.e. "Soul Slicer"): Nemu can cut off portions of her soul and use them to attack her opponent as a blast of spiritual energy. Gikon Jūrinjū (義魂重輪銃, Artificial Soul Heavy Ring Cannon): Sacrificing 6% of her soul, Nemu fires it at her target in the form of a ball of spiritual energy, which opens a clean hole in the target by warping their body around itself. High Spiritual Power: Being a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Nemu has high spiritual energy.

hollows
Hollows are Pluses (souls of deceased humans) who lose their hearts by falling into despair or staying in the Human World for too long. In the anime, non-human spirits can also transform into Hollows. Any spirit that is not guided to Soul Society by a Shinigami through a Soul Burial can eventually descend into a Hollow. Once a soul becomes a Hollow, it is driven by an insatiable and undying hunger to devour other souls, whether living or dead, to fill the void caused by its descent. While their primary obsession often becomes their first goal, most Hollows will eventually become mindless beings dedicated only to seeking out the most potent souls to devour. Evil Hollows are often the strongest and are usually able to retain a portion of their intelligence in Hollow form, making them more dangerous than an ordinary Hollow. While most Hollows are malevolent, or at least mindless beings, at least a few are not, as is the case with Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck and her fellow Hollows, though this may also be due to them undergoing the process of Shinigamification. They may also at least partially be capable of exerting a degree of camaraderie and loyalty, as seen with Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez and his companions when they were still Hollows: his subordinates would sacrifice part of their bodies, without response, for the sake of Grimmjow's growth.
Start up
The Arrancar (破面(アランカル), arankaru?, lit. "Broken Mask") are Hollows who have voluntarily removed their mask and have obtained, in exchange, Shinigami powers such as the ability to also fight with a Zanpakutō and access to its release through a process called resurrection. Unlike common Hollows, the vast majority of Arrancar have a humanoid appearance and size, as well as a well-differentiated personality and pronounced emotions, to the point of existing peaceful or kind-hearted Arrancar, as is the case of Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck. Arrancar can appear both spontaneously and through the use of the Hōgyoku, an artifact created by Kisuke Urahara and currently in the possession of Sōsuke Aizen, which allows the creation of perfected hybrids of Hollow and Shinigami.
The Espada
The Espada are composed of ten Arrancar with exemplary strength. Members of the Espada are given a number from 0 to 9. [1] [2] The lower the number, the more Reiryoku the Espada has. [3] Each Espada has a tattoo with their number somewhere on them, such as Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez , whose tattoo is on his lower back, [4] and Coyote Starrk , whose tattoo is on the back of his left hand. [5] Together with Sōsuke Aizen, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tōsen , the Espada as a group possess strength comparable to the Shinigami captains of the Gotei 13 of Soul Society. Their immense amount of power and leadership status among the Arrancar also grants each Espada the authority to exercise command over Aizen's other forces within Las Noches: the Números, the Exequias,[7] and their own Fracción, chosen by them from among the Números. Similar to the power gap between captains and lieutenants in the Gotei 13, the Espada's strength far exceeds that of the average Número.[8] Aizen himself is confident enough in his Espada's abilities to send them on potentially dangerous missions, such as gathering information in the Human World, fighting Shinigami captains within Las Noches and Karakura Town by themselves, and searching for Vasto Lorde. Being Aizen's most direct subordinates (aside from Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen), the Espada are privy to several of Aizen's plans and innermost secrets, such as his goals of destroying Karakura Town and creating the Ōken, and the location of the Hōgyoku within Las Noches. [12] Aizen's respect for the Espada's abilities is reflected in his manner of addressing them, often referring to them as "my dear Espada" [13] and sitting at the head of the same table with them while discussing the events around Hueco Mundo. [14] According to Dordoni Alessandro Del Socaccio, though, Aizen treats them as tools to do his bidding.
The Espada
There is a hierarchy among the Espada; a higher-ranking member may give orders to lower-ranking members, such as when Ulquiorra Cifer leads a team of lower-ranking Espada to kidnap Orihime Inoue. [17] Various missions usually involve one or more Espada operating together, with the highest-ranking member exercising command over the others. [18] While lower-ranking members typically have little restraint in taking their own initiative (thus exceeding his orders), higher-ranking members typically stick to Aizen's orders, and are often the first to rescue others from trouble, because, according to Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, they wish to prevent the Espada from losing one of their own. [19] However, Aizen's attitude towards offending Espada members is one of leniency, officially forgiving them (though not without severe penalties) on the grounds that they are merely furthering his own desires. The Espada each have their own quarters within Las Noches, which have been designed to suit each Espada's specific taste. For example, Szayelaporro Granz possesses a large building he refers to as his "palace", complete with a hidden, indestructible laboratory and locker room. [21] Zommari Rureaux has a meditation room, [22] while Coyote Starrk's room is designed along the lines of a resting chamber, [23] and Aaroniero Arruruerie's tower, accessed via a suspension bridge, effectively keeps out sunlight and contains nooks and crannies to hide cushions and other implements whose purpose is to make his shape-shifting abilities more convincing.
Resurrection
Resurrection (帰刃 (レスレクシオン) , Resurekushion?, lit. "Returning Edge") is the name given to the release of an Arrancar. Since they are Hollows who have removed their masks and acquired Shinigami powers, they possess a Zanpakutō and are capable of one or two releases, as is the case with Ulquiorra. However, unlike the Zanpakutō of the Shinigami or the Visored, the Zanpakutō of the Arrancar are not parts of the user's soul, but are rather the Hollow's powers sealed in the form of a weapon. By releasing their Zanpakutō in the same manner as the Shinigami, the Arrancar simply regain their Hollow powers. Due to their original powers being sealed within their Zanpakutō, releasing an Arrancar does not cause the weapon to transform into something different, but rather the Arrancar themselves to change, taking on a more Hollow-like appearance and allowing the Arrancar to freely use their abilities. Normally, an Arrancar can return to their more human form when their powers are sealed again, but if they lose any of their limbs during combat, they will not return once the Zanpakutō is released again. The reason an Arrancar seal their powers is for two basic reasons: it allows them to maintain a human form and to retain their powers during times of inactivity. In its sealed form, an Arrancar's Zanpakutō is usually also shaped like a katana, although unlike Shinigami, there are many more exceptions to this rule, with sealed weapons appearing in very different shapes, far from the traditional appearance of a sword, such as Aaroniero's Zanpakutō, Nnoitra's or Baraggan's. In many ways, resurrection is a release similar to shikai. As with the latter, for the Arrancar release to be effective.
senkaimon
Gotei 13 members using the Senkaimon The Senkaimon (穿界門, translated as World Penetration Gate?) is a dimensional gate used by Shinigami to enter and leave Soul Society and head to the human world. When guided by a Jigokuchō (Hell Butterfly), the Senkaimon takes the form of a typically Japanese sliding double door. This was first seen being used by Renji Abarai when he opens the Senkaimon on Byakuya's orders. Humans can also do something similar with the use of Reishihenkanki (霊子変換機, literally meaning "Spirit Exchange"?), which converts solid matter into spiritual particles. Intruders can pass through the Senkaimon in the same way, but the lack of Jigokuchō forces intruders to have to pass through the Dangai (断界, lit. Precipice World), a boundary dimension between the Human World and Soul Society. This is very difficult to do, because souls that do not cross the Dangai before the gates to Soul Society close will be trapped there forever. It is possible for the Seireitei to disable these mechanisms, so that Shinigami and Humans can safely cross the Dangai.
