Profile
Nel hails from an alternate timeline of Elyos and is a daughter of the Fell Dragon Sombron of that world. In the alternative Elyos, all of Sombron's children were born as twins and Nel was no exception as she is the elder twin sister of Nil. Her family was fraught with hostility and death. Similar to the Sombron encountered in the main Elyos, many of Nel's siblings died for his ambitions or were sometimes killed by his own hand for their failure. However, many of Nel's other siblings took it upon themselves to personally kill their weaker twin sibling, thus leaving Sombron with only his most capable children from the beginning. Nel was unusually protective of her younger, weaker twin brother Nil and pledged to keep him safe. Her protectiveness was so strong that when some of her other siblings mockingly offered to kill Nil themselves for her, she killed them in a rage, inadvertently earning Sombron's attention and favor for her deed. As a sign of her protectiveness, Nel gave Nil her dragonstone, promising that the would share her power and that she would always rely on him. Despite her Fell Dragon blood, Nel defected from Sombron's forces, joining the Divine Dragon's side in the war. However, with the deaths of Sombron and the Divine Dragons, Elyos began to decline. Life in Elyos became a struggle and the four nations began attacking each other for resources. Desperate to stop the hostilities, Nel performed a ritual to summon a hero from another world to end the war for Elyos.
Personality
Cool and level-headed, Nel is able to stay calm even under intense pressure and can easily, and coldly, kill others for the greater good without hesitation. Her façade is so solid that she can come off as emotionless. She is rather private with her own affairs and does not say more than what needs to be said. In truth, Nel's stone-faced façade is due to the melancholic remembrance of many lost loved ones as a result of her father's ambitions. Deep down, Nel is warm and caring, unlike most of her fellow Fell Dragon siblings. Having sympathized with the Alear of her world and witnessed the destruction that countless wars have wrought, Nel is protective of humanity as a whole, referring to them affectionately as "little ones." Nel is starkly different from her fellow Fell Dragon siblings, namely her deep sisterly affection and protective streak for her younger twin brother Nil. It is due to her protectiveness that she violently lashed out at her siblings at the notion of them murdering him for her. Understandably mortified by her explosive temper that led to her slaughtering said siblings in a rage, Nel expressed uncertainty over her Father's compliments who congratulated her for slaughtering her weak siblings. Nel is also known for her stoic and serious personality. She’s fiercely protective of her brother Nil and her mission to prevent the awakening of the Fell Dragon. Despite her cold demeanor, she has a deep sense of loyalty and is highly committed to her duty. However, her intense focus on her goals can make her seem distant, as she often prioritizes her mission over personal relationships or emotions.
Story
One thousand years ago, the land of Elyos was besieged by the Fell Dragon Sombron. Thanks to a group of powerful warriors utilizing the powers of heroes of other worlds, Sombron was sealed away. Elyos enjoyed a millennium of peace, but the seal holding back the Fell Dragon has begun to weaken. Alear, a Divine Dragon, awakens from a thousand-year slumber and becomes a central figure in combating the looming threat of forces attempting to free Sombron. In order to accomplish this goal, Alear must seek out the twelve Emblem Rings, some of which are held by forces loyal to the Fell Dragon. Fell Xenologue In an alternative Elyos, the blessings of the Divine Dragons are gone from the world after the death of the last Divine Dragon. Though the Fell Dragon Sombron of that world perished against the Divine Dragon Alear, an unknown force seeks to finish his plan to bring ruin to Elyos. With the four nations on the brink of war, the Fell Dragon twins Nel and Nil summon an Alear from another world to stop their aggression and stop the forces loyal to Sombron.
Elyos
Elyos is the continent of this world History One thousand years ago, a great Fell Dragon besieged the land of Elyos, plunging it into darkness. Due in part to the intervention of powerful warriors and the blessings of heroes of other worlds, the Fell Dragon was sealed, bringing peace to the realms. Realms Elyos is a relatively circular continent comprised of five distinctive regions known as realms. Four of the realms encompass one of the four intercardinal areas of the outer ring; Firene is situated in the Southwest, Brodia is situated in the Northwest, Elusia is situated in the Northeast, and Solm is situated in the Southeast. The fifth realm, Lythos, is situated in the center of Elyos, separated from the rest of the continent by a large ring of water. Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance, is a country located in the southwest of Elyos. Brodia, the Kingdom of Might, is a country located in the northwest of Elyos. Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge, is a country located in the northeast of Elyos. Solm the Queendom of Freedom is a country located in the southeast of Elyos. Lythos is a country located in the center of Elyos.
Realms Part 1
Firene Firene is a peaceful country most known for valuing peace and prosperity. Its rich and fertile land lends to its reputation as a generous nation, known for exporting food and goods at reasonable rates and thus fostering positive relationships with the other nations, especially its two neighboring border nations of Brodia and Solm. Firene prides itself on its vast variety of flowers. Of the four nations of Elyos, Firene is the most devout with the Divine Dragons. While all of the royal families of Elyos would make trips to the Somniel to visit the slumbering Alear, the Firenese royal family would make the most frequent trips out of all four nations. After the fall of the Fell Dragon Sombron, each of the nations of Elyos were tasked with safeguarding one of the Emblem Rings to promote trust and peace between the nations. Firene was entrusted with the Ring of the Caring Princess. In truth, Firene was actually entrusted with two rings with the Ring of the Caring Princess being their only known ring publicly. The Ring of the Dawn Maiden was hidden away in a hidden shrine near their border with Brodia. Brodia Brodia is noted throughout Elyos for its pride and military strength. It is a rugged country with rich mineral deposits that lend to its reputation for precious gemstones and most importantly metal, supporting its militant policies. Brodia has mostly maintained neutral ties with the other nations of Elyos though they have a positive relationship with their neighboring country of Firene as Firene trades food for Brodia's minerals. Brodia however has dealt with centuries of rivalry if not outright hostility with their other neighboring country of Elusia. In more recent years, it is due to Elusia's worshiping of the Fell Dragon Sombron that Brodia and Elusia are at war with each other, though mostly to a stalemate. after the fall of the Fell Dragon Sombron, Borodia was tasked with safeguarding one of the Emblem Ring, the Ring of the Young Lion.
Realms part 2
Elusia Elusia has a harsh, frigid climate notorious for long winters and heavy snow. Elusia is well known throughout Elyos as the haven for scholars and academics, boasting the most prestigious academy in all of Elyos devoted to higher learning. Both princesses of Elusia, Ivy and Hortensia, have attended the academy. While not directly stated to have a specialized commodity, Elusia regularly trades with Solm and has maintained a mostly neutral relationship. Due to their large separation distance, it has virtually no direct relationship with Firene. Its relationship with Brodia, its neighbor to the west, has been tense for years as both have gone to war over land for resources. Elusia had a pact of trust with Lythos and like the other nations of Elyos, was entrusted with one of the Emblem Rings to maintain peace between the nations. They were tasked with safeguarding the Ring of the Lady of the Plains. Overtime, Elusia became a haven for those who became disillusioned to the blessings of the Divine Dragons as a cult devoted to the Fell Dragon Sombron emerged within Elusia. Solm Solm is a vast desert country, though there are numerous oasis where many people have settled around. Solm is not particularly known for any resources unlike the other nations. It is noted for its open-minded, welcoming nature which has allowed many to thrive within it. Its monarchy in particular embody this as both the crown princess and her young brother are often out of the castle serving in Solm's official militia and defenders, the Sentinels. While the Divine Dragons are the most prevalent religion of the region with the royal family making a few trips to the Somniel to visit the slumbering Alear, according to Fogado, there seems to be some reverence to dragons in general. After the fall of the Fell Dragon Sombron, Solm was tasked with safeguarding one of the Emblem Rings to promote trust and peace between the nations. Solm was entrusted with the Ring of the Radiant Hero.
Realms part 3
In truth, Solm was actually entrusted with two Emblem Rings with the Ring of the Radiant Hero being their only known ring publicly. The Ring of the Crux of Fate was hidden away in the Northern Fortress, a rumored haunted location. To deter would-be thieves, the Solm royal family encouraged this rumor. Lythos Lythos is known as the "Holy Land" and is the home of the Divine Dragons of Elyos. The grand war between the Divine Dragons and the Fell Dragon Sombron ravaged all of Elyos, leaving only Lumera, the Divine Dragon Monarch, and her child Alear as the final remaining Divine Dragons. Despite defeating Sombron and sealing him away using the power of the Emblem Rings, the Fell Dragon mustered enough strength to launch a lethal attack against Alear. Distraught, Lumera proceeded to stabilize Alear by pouring her Divine Dragon essence into them, putting them into a regenerative coma and housed them in the Somniel. To enforce stability across Elyos, Lumera divided the Emblem Rings among the four other nations, Firene, Brodia, Elusia, and Solm. Lythos retained the Ring of the Holy Knight, Ring of the Sage Lord, Ring of the Azure Twins, Ring of the Princess Exalt, and Ring of the Instructor within the Ring Vault of Lythos Castle while the Ring of the Hero-King, which had bonded with Alear, was left on their finger while they slept. For a millennium, Lumera continued to pour her essence into Alear and the royal families of the four nations would pay regular visits as they had remained loyal for centuries. In recent years, Firene remained the most devout and made the most frequent visits. Brodia and Solm would make sporadic visits, but remained positively tied to Lythos. Elusia had slowly begun to break away from their devotion to the Divine Dragons as a cult of the Fell Dragon sprung up within its boards, eventually resulting in the most recent royals making no visits as its current king, Hyacinth, has fully aligned with the Fell Dragon's cult.
The Somniel
The Somniel is a floating island of the Holy Land of Lythos, and where Alear slept for 1,000 years. Prior to Alear's awakening, access to the Somniel was heavily restricted with only their various caretakers over the generations and the royal families of Elyos making regular visits. The royal family of Firene in particular, who worships the Divine Dragons of Elyos, made far more visits than any other country. In fact, it is only by the power of a Divine Dragon that allows anyone to have access to it. As such, only Alear and Lumera have the ability to allow access to the Somniel. The Somniel serves as a base of operations. Between battles, Alear and their allies can be found wandering the island. Features Plaza - A central location featuring useful shops Armory - Sells battle equipment. Item Shop - Sells various items to be used in battle. Smithy - Can strengthen or upgrade weapons through refinement. Boutique - Sells outfits and accessories that can be worn in Somniel. Flea Market - Sells rare items not found in regular shops. Fell Dragon Sombron
One thousand years ago, the Fell Dragon Sombron ravaged and conquered Elyos. He was stopped by a group of heroes lead by the Divine Dragon Lumera who sealed him away with the power of the Emblems. Despite his fall, a group devoted to him created a cult that desired to revive him. The nation of Elusia, meanwhile, shied away from worship of the Divine Dragon, standing out as a nation that worshiped the Fell Dragon instead. The aforementioned cult would eventually come to be part of the predominant religious sect in Elusia. A thousand years after he was sealed, the Emblem Rings became active once more, and under Sombron's influence, Elusia launched a campaign to collect the twelve Emblem Rings in order to revive and empower him. Personality Sombron is an evil dragon, hellbent on accomplishing his goals by any means necessary. He cares very little for others, foregoing any sort of notion of meaningful bonds to anyone, even his own offspring. His offspring in fact are nothing more than disposable tools towards his goals that he can simply discard once they have lost their usefulness. He has, on more than one occasion, personally executed "failures" himself, whether it be for incompetence, weakness, or insubordination.
Divine Dragon Lumera
Lumera is the Divine Dragon Monarch and the mother of Alear. She's a hero who helped the humans in the war against the Fell Dragon a thousand years ago, saving the continent. For the next thousand years, Lumera watched over Alear, who was sleeping in the Somniel. Lumera is the kind and considerate queen of Lythos and a beloved figure throughout all of Elyos. She dearly loves her child Alear, having spent a thousand years patiently waiting during their slumber. Their eventual awakening brought her great joy and a deep desire to make up for lost time. However, she gave her life to save Alear from a devastating death blow
Alear
Alear is a Divine Dragon and child of the Divine Dragon Monarch Lumera. 1000 years prior to the events of Engage, Alear is said to have participated in the war against the Fell Dragon Sombron. In the aftermath of the war, they sustained heavy wounds and was put into a deep slumber. Housed in the Somniel, over a thousand years, the people of Elyos would worship Alear as the Divine Dragon. Most royal families would be granted permission to visit them as they slept, and they were regularly attended by at least 33 generations of stewards dedicated to protecting and serving Alear when they would eventually awaken. Personality Alear's memory is hazy due to having amnesia but retains a spirit of positivity and courteousness. When Alfred is on wake-up duty, he describes them as deep sleeper. Polite as one can expect of a Divine Dragon, Alear warmly greets and interacts with the members of their army and the people of Elyos. Though they lost their memories of Lumera, Alear quickly bonds with her and adopts many of their mother's mannerisms. Their journey tests their convictions, and even when near death, Alear refuses to give up and even finds rather unorthodox solutions using the powers of their allies. Despite their status as a Divine Dragon, Alear does not force people to address them with formalities and their title, preferring that they simply refer to them by name if they want to. At time, they are uncomfortable being the object of worship, especially when done in their presence. Nonetheless, they are touched by the people's faith in them and fiercely protective of Elyos itself and its denizens. Gender: Female

Monstrous Beasts: Sombron's forces also include large, monstrous creatures that are either summoned or corrupted by his dark magic. These creatures act as powerful bosses or elite enemies that the player must defeat during significant battles.
