Telemachus

Biography

Telemachus is the son of King Odysseus and Queen Penelope, who rule Ithaca. His father went to war with Troy when Telemachus was still an infant. Telemachus was raised by his mother alone. After defeating Troy, Odysseus and his ships disappeared. During the twenty years of Odysseus' absence, he was considered dead. Due to the fact that the king was absent, the castle was filled with 108 suitors who claimed Penelope's hand. Because Penelope was faithful to her husband, the suitors lost patience. Telemachus had many run-ins with suitors, especially with Antinous. Antinous also planned to attack Telemachus and kill him, at the moment when Telemachus was returning from a diplomatic mission. Telemachus went to Sparta on a ship with diplomats to get news from the kings about his father Odysseus. But Odysseus returns to Ithaca disguised as a tramp. Telemachus meets with Odysseus and together they come up with a plan to eliminate the suitors. Eventually, Odysseus slaughters all 108 suitors.
