He is an archdemon and Satanick's 1st subordinate.

Envi's appearance

Envi has long olive green hair tied with a black ribbon in a low ponytail, bangs covering his right eye, and an ahoge. He also has four ears; [3] two regular and two goat. He has horns and red eyes as well. His attire consists of a black butler coat over a red collared shirt, dark red vest with a red bowtie, black pants, and black dress shoes. He can be seen with a white and gray parasol which also serves as a weapon in his character portrait. Envi has a regular demon tail. [4] Furthermore, unlike Yagi, Envi also has human hands with black nails. [5]

Envi personality / Envi personality

Perpetually dark and brooding, Envi dreams of annihilating angels who are his mortal enemies. [7] He is said to be a personification of "envy" who loves the devil. [7] He is quite incorrigible [8] and prone to entering a foul mood whenever Satanick is troubled, even harshly dismissing Kyou for inquiring about the devil when the other demon's intentions weren't hostile in the slightest. His loyalties to Satanick are unquestionable, and he is merciless to any who dares oppose the devil. He is described to be "too radical" and often causes problems due to this loyalty. [9] Envi is said to be very jealous and troublesome. [9] It was stated Envi may be the type of person that does not like to be touched. [4] His ears are also very sensitive so he does not want anyone touching them. [10] Envi can only laugh when he drinks alcohol. [7] When asked if he makes goat noises, Deep-Sea Prisoner replied that he does not; however, he may have a vulgar laugh when he is excited or drunk. [5] Envi has a bad habit of drinking [9] and is more careless than usual while drinking. [11] Out of Satanick's Subordinates, Envi is second-best at tag due to his ferocity. Envi is cold with all of Satanick's illegitimate children, being generally harsher to them. However, he treats those who are polite with him in the same gentlemanly manner. [14] Envi will deliberately use a polite tone to aggravate someone he angered. [15]

Envi background

Envi was created by Satanick some time in the past. [16] Envi is a demon who works under Satanick as his 1st subordinate. He is the one who tends to the devil's needs and allegedly a palace staff. He can also be considered Satanick's secretary, [17] according to Deep-Sea Prisoner. As seen in a panel of Distorted Love, Envi mentions having a lot of experience. This is in reference to him having fought in many battles. [15] Envi has a large house due to his high rank of being an archdemon. [18]

Envi and Yagi's relationship (Relatives)

asked if they are brothers, Deep-Sea Prisoner vaguely responded that they can be seen that way. [20] They are coworkers who work for Satanick. They were shown interacting once in Distorted Love 2, where Envi got mad at Kyou for his "useless prying" and scared both him and Yagi. Envi is short-tempered and easily gets mad; Yagi always has to tell him to calm down as a result. [15] Yagi clean ups Envi's messes. [9]

Envi and jork's relationship (Relatives)

Jork and Envi are relatives, [2] but how they are related is currently unknown.

Envi and Glasses's relationship (various)

Glasses is the only child of Satanick's that Envi treats in a gentle manner, due to him being the only legitimate heir [5] and son of a so-called "regular wife." [14] Envi speaks to Glasses in a polite tone. [15]

Envi and satanick's relationship (various) [1]

Satanick is Envi's boss, devil, and creator. [16] Envi formally addresses him as "Lord Devil" and acts as his secretary. Envi gets irked by Satanick's antics, but bears with him regardless. In Sunahama comics, it is shown Envi deeply cares for him; being the only one to stay by the Devil's side during sickness, protecting him even from Satanick's own son Licorice, and will go to great lengths just to appease him (e.g. capturing and forcing the king of the Totsusa Kingdom to stay with Satanick for the night in hopes it will relieve his devil's pain). As of the 2017/10/21 update, it is shown with a red arrow Envi does have romantic feelings for Satanick, which could be why he is not fond of Satanick's illegitimate children [5] or Satanick's attraction to Ivlis. It has been shown Satanick does not reciprocate these feelings. However, he is aware of them and thinks of the matter as, "Ahh, what will I do about this... I'm at a loss." [4] Satanick is a playboy and thus used to being loved by others. [4] He does not have too strong of a reaction to Envi's feelings. [4] It has been stated to describe the relationship between Envi and Satanick is "hard to say in a nutshell," according to Deep-Sea Prisoner. Envi's feelings towards Satanick include worship, [21] adoration, and love - in various degrees. Envi's emotions are said to be "heavy," and he has affection and respect towards Satanick. [22] Gossip stories are said to not be written about Satanick for if they are Envi will "cut the reporter to death." [23] Envi is good with children unless they are Satanick's own. He does not think well of Satanick's illegitimate children including Licorice and warns Satanick about dealing with them other than Glasses, whom is the only legitimate child in the lineage.

Envi and satanick's relationship (various) [2]

Satanick deeply loves his children, and as a result, once brought Envi to the "punishment room" when he caught him beating up Licorice. [5] However, even after Satanick punished him, Envi showed no signs of remorse for his actions and refused to apologize, asking why he should. [15]

Envi and Crea's relationship (various)

Crea Flankenstein Crea is both Envi's ward and friend, often taken care of by him. She is very attached to him. [24] He once made omurice for her in a mini-comic.

Envi and Lil's relationship (various)

Lil and Envi appear to be in good standing from what can be seen of their interactions in the Rainbow mini-comics. When Satanick was ill, Envi sought Lil's help in returning Satanick to normal. He speaks to her in a polite tone.

Envi and Licorice's relationship (various) [1]

Licorice and Envi have been at odds for a long time due to their differing views of Satanick. The two seem to constantly be at each others' throats each time they meet, and with no visible conclusion. An example is in the Sunahama update I Cannot Rest where Envi is seen grabbing Licorice's child form by the collar and has chained the young demon's hands behind his back, all the while Licorice struggles to get free. One of the things that exacerbates Envi's anger towards Licorice is his arrogant attitude. [15] The fact that Licorice's face looks very similar to Satanick's also upsets him. [15] In the Distorted Love comics, Licorice comes to Ne-no-Kuni with the intention of killing his father, but is stopped when Envi points a keris to his neck, stating that whoever opposes the Devil, be it their own son, shall have no mercy. Licorice arrogantly underestimates Envi, saying "Envi's sort usually isn't much against something like a demon...," with Envi retorting that Licorice should not be pushing his luck and is willing to "show how much of a different experience can make." However, their threats fall short when Satanick calls them out, only to begin vomiting the moment he sits up. Envi runs to Satanick's side and Licorice watches with a troubled expression before wordlessly leaving.

Envi and Licorice's relationship (various) [2]

In the Kenka comics, a fight between Envi and Licorice ensues, with Envi being the clear victor. Licorice, having lost his left arm, is pinned to the ground with Envi's keris impaling his chest. Prior to the fight, Licorice is seen glaring at Envi. Envi, however, looks on with a placid expression, only to cast it aside and replace it with a wide slasher smile, proclaiming that since Satanick is far from their location at that moment, there is no one else around, and no one to stop him. In the following Sunahama update, Envi and Licorice Afterward, Licorice is seen chained to the ceiling with multiple cuts and bruises on his body, his clothes mostly open, and Envi's silhouette giving a wicked smile. In Crime and Punishment, Licorice is shivering and crying with his shirt unbuttoned. In Trauma, Licorice speaks in a resigned manner saying he is fine with having been forced into sexual intercourse for the first time; he does not think of it as an "important first time" and does not "prefer one sex in the first place." He internally laments to his mother that he has been dirtied. Licorice cried for a while at night because of the shock of what Envi did to him. [15] When asked if Licorice and Envi could get along, Deep-Sea Prisoner said, "No." [21] Envi is also more careless than usual while drinking. Deep-Sea Prisoner hinted that this would be a good opportunity for Licorice to take revenge. [11]

Envi and Reley Lo's relationship (various)

Reley Lo and Envi get along well and sometimes have tea together with Medouco. [25] Envi once served Satanick a dish partially made from Reley Lo's tail after Satanick joked, "Does mermaid meat taste like fish?" Upon finding out, Satanick spit it out. [25]

Envi and Medouco's relationship (various)

Medouco Medouco and Envi are friends. They get along well. They often have tea together alongside Reley Lo. [25]

Fumus4' Subordinates

Taffy is an enemy of Envi. One illustration depicts Envi flipping Taffy off, suggesting that the two are not on good terms. Deep-Sea Prisoner once commented, "Both Taffy and Envi share a right eye hidden by bangs. What a coincidence, isn't it?" [28]

Satanick's Subordinates

Benihotaru, Dokugai, Edabane, Hidou, Hitoki, Lec Hijoushiki, & Roc Hijoushiki They are Envi's fellow subordinates of Satanick.

Envi and Kyou's relationship (various)

Kyou is Envi's fellow subordinate of Satanick. The only interaction between them shown is in Distorted Love where Envi snaps at him for his "useless prying," scaring both Yagi and him.

Natural Abilities Nigh-Absolute Immortality - Being a demon, Envi cannot die from natural causes such as aging or disease. [29] [30] Regenerative Healing Factor - Being a demon, he is able to regenerate body parts, even guts and bones. [31] Ambidexterity - He is naturally ambidextrous. [32] Genital Modification - Being a demon, he is able to modify his genitalia. [31] Flight - He has six wings with which he can fly, although he usually chooses not to show them. [16] Super Speed - He is one of the fastest demons. He is faster than a train and can exceed the speed of sound. [33]

Trivia

Sunahama comic, Licorice commented "Envi's sort usually isn't much against something like a demon." However, in the character classifications, Envi is officially recognized as one. It is unknown what other implications Licorice could have meant. Previously on Deep-Sea Prisoner's character page, clicking on Envi's portrait would load Envy's. Envi and the other residents of Satanick's castle do not care if he is running around naked. When he does, they simply think, "Oh, that guy is naked again." [10] In regards to an artwork Deep-Sea Prisoner drew for Christmas 2021, she commented Ivlis was supposed to dress up as a reindeer but turned out to be a present. If a reindeer was needed, Envi would be the one to wear antlers; he would be grumpy having lost his identity (as a demon). [10] Deep-Sea Prisoner was contemplating whether or not to create a future Seaside Dispatches volume where Licorice takes revenge on Envi in the same way he was tormented. She was uncertain if she wanted to draw this story or not, but after seeing that there are fans who enjoy Envi and Licorice's dynamic, she decided to.
