Personality

Es una persona extremadamente reservada y misteriosa sobre todo lo relacionado con su pasado. Suele mostrar una actitud sarcástica, pesada y grosera con... habitantes de la mansión, incluso rozando lo cruel e incómodo porque suele hacer y decir cosas Con muy poco tacto hacia los sentimientos de los demás. Con las mujeres de Moondance se le ve con un aire bastante coqueto, personalidad traviesa, fogosa y bromista; aunque también suele ser comprensivo y tranquilizador con ellos una vez que Beliath les rompe el corazón. History

Ethan was the son of a teacher and a loving mother who loved and supported him in every way they could. Both were Finnish and were known to have practiced the Jewish religion. Childhood Ethan was born in Finland, near Helsinki in 1919 and had a fairly happy childhood and adolescence with his parents. They lived at the end of the street. Ethan remembers that his father used to stay for hours working at school and when he was a child he had to go and get him to come to the house for dinner. Meanwhile, his mother had a very busy life at home, as they always had important guests with whom Ethan had to, much to his chagrin, behave politely. Despite this, his parents let him do whatever he wanted, answered all his questions and liked to tell him stories and tales about kindness, friendship, mutual help and the good will of men. The latter would greatly influence Ethan's life later on. From a young age, Ethan proved to be extremely curious and intelligent, so he was able to pass the medical school exam at the University of Helsinki despite his young age at the time, something that made his parents extremely proud. Years later, both of them would die of illnesses. His father's was a degenerative disease that at one point would cause him to no longer be able to eat on his own and he begged Ethan for a list of all possible methods to commit suicide, which Ethan denied him. His mother's illness is unknown, but it is known that she was bedridden and that she was proud of her son and his path in medicine until the last minute, however she tried to stop Ethan from joining World War II, as she was very worried about him and his future. Second World War While Ethan was studying at university, World War II broke out. Ethan was not drafted or forced to attend the war that had already been going on for 3 years; he volunteered himself wanting

Kidnapping and working for Nazi Germany

Finland and Germany had been allies in World War II, but only because they had a common enemy, the USSR. One night, an unknown person broke into Ethan's tent and kidnapped him to take him to the German army of scientists. Despite his kidnapping, no one in the Finnish camp or army cared to look for Ethan, because he was just another doctor and there were many like him. Ethan was taken to a secret laboratory hidden in the Black Forest mountain range. In this laboratory, they would lock Ethan in a cage so they could poison him and threaten him: if he refused to work for them, they would kill him with said poison. Ethan ended up accepting because he had no other choice and was taken to a transparent chamber where they forced him to perform "medical research." However, Ethan would come to realize that this was no ordinary research: this was research into how to turn people into vampires. The German army had heard rumors that a vampire army could be created that could help them win the war once and for all, and they had decided to get ahead of them by creating the vampire army first (although there were rumors that the Nazi army was full of Werewolves). Ethan's role would then be to create a special serum that could turn a person into a vampire, as well as test it to see if it worked properly. Every time the serum was tested on a person, they would die, and this continued for a long time until a child was brought to Ethan. Ethan understood that this child would be the new guinea pig for the serum and he flatly refused to transform him, so he made a radical decision to save his life.

Transformation into Vampire

Transformation Ethan was determined to sacrifice himself for the boy, and to do so he was determined to destroy his research and lab completely. However, he failed and was caught in the middle of his escape by the guards. To "punish" him for this, they ended up injecting both him and the boy with the serum; causing the boy to die but Ethan to transform and his hair to turn permanently white. He was transformed at the age of 26, so his physical appearance was "frozen" at this age. Ethan was devastated by having seen that child die in front of his eyes without being able to do anything to prevent it. He buried him in tears and developed a deep regret that would accompany him every day of his life from then on [6]. By then, it was 1945 and the Second World War had come to an end. The Russian army arrived at that secret laboratory and carried out a massacre that wiped out all the Germans; Ethan was the only one who survived because he could not move and was left for dead. The Russian army set fire to the laboratory and Ethan was able to crawl along the floor until he got out, he managed to climb over the wire fence and fall into a pit full of white flowers stained with blood.

Before his arrival at the mansion

After his transformation in a hostile territory, Ethan would have to learn to survive always accompanied by his Lathi L-35[7]. Some time later, Beliath would find Ethan wounded in a ditch and would rescue him to take him to an apartment he had in Prague, Czech Republic. Beliath was amused that Ethan did not speak except to ask things about the transformation into a vampire, so he did not inquire further into his history; but he did teach him to behave, feed himself, hypnotize and live as a vampire. However, due to Beliath's succubus nature since he was born a vampire, he was not very interested in what happened in the human world; contrary to Ethan, who would be on the verge of going crazy hearing daily the human conflicts of the post-war period. A few months later, having learned that and fed up with hearing the horrors that happened around him, Ethan would thank Beliath and leave the apartment.[8] Ethan had fond memories of Helsinki and decided to return to his hometown in the hope of living a good, happy and peaceful life like his parents did. However, he would soon realize that there was nothing there for him anymore and he would decide to wander around Europe. During his journey, he tried to socialize with people, but as he found it impossible to keep the secret that he was a vampire, he ended up telling people and making his new friends think he was crazy or a monster; so from that moment on, he decided to just observe human life from afar and not make friends or have strong ties again. Many years later, Beliath would write numerous letters to Ethan inviting him to come live in the Mansion and Ethan would end up agreeing shortly after.

His relationship with the inhabitants of the mansion

With Beliath: Beliath is Ethan's best friend and therefore the one he gets along with best out of all the inhabitants of the mansion. Their friendship began when Ethan was turned into a vampire and behaved in an errant, impulsive and extremely violent way, so Beliath had to teach him to control himself and live well accepting his new condition. After Beliath let him live in an apartment of his in Prague they separated and got back together many years later in the Mansion after Beliath sent him several letters to convince him and got Vladimir to agree to his request. They spend a lot of time together these days; they are the last to wake up and enjoy being out of the mansion looking for conquests in the city and at the Moondance. They both like to gamble, joke around, annoy Vladimir and do the tasks he sends them together, such as hiding corpses, besieging the mansion, tracking down clues or searching for information in the city. At the end of Beliath's route, Ethan does not hesitate to go and rescue him from Asmodea's control even if it costs him his life, because he sees Beliath as a true friend[9]. In his own route, it seems that Ethan desires Beliath's ability to attract women, admires his way of living and even refers to him as "the smartest guy I know".

With Ivan

Ivan: Ethan deeply hates Ivan for his lack of control over blood, which reminds him a lot of himself in his early years as a vampire. He often mocks him and compares him to a pet; he does not hesitate to expose him if he leaves the mansion or if he breaks any of Vladimir's rules in order to have him expelled from the vampire group. In Ivan's route, Ethan behaves very aggressively towards him and Eloise, even hitting and threatening them directly. In his own route, Ethan reprimands Ivan numerous times, blaming him for the mistake of having killed Eloise and very rudely warns him not to approach or speak to his chalice. Ethan may be envious of all the attention, care and consideration Ivan receives from the other members of the mansion and this interferes with his dealings with him.

With Vladimir

Vladimir: Ethan doesn't get along very well with Vladimir because their personalities are too different. Ethan usually criticizes his way of ruling the mansion and openly and rudely questions his orders and rules. However, Vladimir tolerates him within the mansion, because despite his complaints he follows his orders, because he is the mansion's doctor and because (sometimes) he shows his will to live and work as a team with the other vampires. The times when Ethan goes too far with Eloise, Ivan or proposes violent opinions within the council, Vladimir does not hesitate to stop him with sharp words and even with the threat of a physical fight with his staff. Despite everything, Vladimir comes to genuinely care about him, since he feels that he has a great wound in the past that he must face in order to be happy, however, he does not interfere in his life and has never asked him who he is, where he comes from or what his story is.

With Rafael

Rafael: Ethan and Rafael usually avoid each other and rarely exchange words, as Rafael thinks Ethan's manners leave much to be desired and that he is a person who refuses to be the best version of himself. [10] For his part, Ethan thinks Rafael is very boring and likes to make fun of and comment on his blindness and his calm manner. Despite this, Rafael will have some moments of conversation with Ethan and will agree to play chess with him. Likewise, noticing that he has traumas from his past, he will offer to give Ethan a kind of mental therapy to help him overcome these issues.

With Aaron

Aaron: Ethan and Aaron have a somewhat distant relationship, as they usually don't spend much time inside the mansion or living together. Ethan acts somewhat rudely with Aaron, however Aaron also tends to put him in his place when he gets too aggressive with his comments or actions. On the occasions when they have to work together, they put aside their differences and can be a great team of trackers.

With Eloise

Eloise: Ethan tends to behave very rude, sarcastic, annoying and mischievous towards Eloise. He tends to not call her by her name, belittle her and tease her, making her angry. This changes in the Beliath route, where he is seen to be more friendly and helpful. In his own route, he will maintain his rude and mischievous nature, but little by little he will trust her enough to be the first person to know his story.

With Leandra

Leandra: Ethan is strongly attracted to Leandra in the Beliath route and has frequently tried to woo her (or at least sleep with her) over the past few years. However, despite his constant insistence, Leandra is completely indifferent to him, even openly showing some dislike for him and calling him "self-righteous", just like Ivan. Ultimately, the two of them, along with Neil and Eloise, end up joining forces to rescue Beliath from Asmodea.

With Neil

Neil: His relationship with Neil varies drastically depending on the route being played. In Vladimir's Route, he wants to hunt down Neil and kill him so he'll stop murdering people; however, when he finds him in the woods and starts fighting him, Neil attacks him so badly that he leaves him on the verge of death and uses his bloody body to provoke the rest of the members of the mansion. From that point on, they have no other interaction. In Beliath's route, he initially wants to kill Neil, but once captured, he decides to accompany him and Eloise to rescue Beliath because he doesn't fully trust him. Neil's accurate comments about Ethan's past will cause Ethan to freak out and almost lose his temper as they walk, thinking that Neil "knows too much."

Skills

Skills Healing: The special power Ethan developed as a vampire was healing. He is able to heal faster from injuries than an average vampire. Tracking: Ethan is an excellent hunter and tracker. He is usually in charge of patrolling the mansion in addition to Aaron. Medical Knowledge: Ethan is highly proficient in medicine due to his experience as a war medic. Intelligence: Ethan possesses an intelligence that is well above average. He was able to pass the medical school exam despite his young age, conduct blood research for the Russian Navy, and has also been able to improvise a serum to reverse his vampiric condition with only a few instruments inside the mansion. Shooting Skill: Ethan is very skilled at shooting and fighting with firearms, as he prefers to use them over bladed weapons. Knife Use: While Ethan does not like to use bladed weapons, he is very skilled at handling the knife to attack or defend himself. Chess: Ethan really enjoys playing chess and is very good at it, it is difficult for him to lose games and if someone beats him, Ethan will praise his performance. Excellent dancer: According to Eloise, he is a good dancer, with a spontaneous and unbridled rhythm.
