Her figure is slim with a medium chest, a heart-shaped butt, medium thighs and an hourglass-shaped waist, stylized and, according to her sensei, "too feminine", which tends to make her underestimated, especially in the field of martial arts, as she is considered fragile for combat. Despite being 5'7" tall, she does not meet the minimum size requirement to be a field agent in the Gotham City Police Department or the FBI. She is lightly built, weighing about 130 lbs, which forces her to rely on more than just brute force in any type of combat.

Psychological Description: Barbara is a very determined person (in other words, surprisingly stubborn). Once she gets something into that red-headed head, it's very difficult to change her mind, something that can be corroborated by her father and her companions, Batman and Robin. Tired of having doors closed to her because she is a girl, or because she "does not meet the minimum height requirement", Barbara is determined to prove to them all that they are very wrong for underestimating her. With a strong character and nonconformist with the world around her, she will do anything to change what she considers unfair, even if it means sneaking away and hiding her second identity from her father. Adventurous and somewhat fascinated by danger, she loves adrenaline and being in the middle of the action. She is known for her reckless driving of Batcycles, having blown up the first one shortly after Robin had given it to her. What she loves most is the sensation of flying when she uses the grappling hook to go from building to building. She can't stand being left behind or just watching when she could be doing something to help. Despite being a bit impetuous at times, Barbara tries to never lose perspective, keeping a cool head and her feet on the ground... the latter in a figurative sense, of course. Her sense of humor often borders on the ironic. She can't help but give nicknames to the people around her, even if she doesn't use them openly ("Big Guy" for Batman, "Shoes" for Robin, among others). She likes to joke around and provoke her rivals in battles, and what she enjoys most is kicking the asses of those who have underestimated her.

As for her tastes, Barbara loves technology and computers. She uses computer and software terms with ease, a skill she has even used to confuse the old-fashioned James Gordon when he doesn't want her to investigate a particular topic. She has a great interest in criminology. Her dream was to be a police officer, something her father never approved of ("one cop in the family is more than enough"). With him being Commissioner of the GCPD, Barbara long ago lost any hope that her applications would be accepted. Despite his stubbornness in keeping her away from the police, father and daughter maintain a strong bond. Barbara adores her father, but he is overprotective of her, to the point of overwhelming her at times. In addition, Commissioner Gordon has a bad habit of setting her up (without consulting her first) with the men he thinks she should go out with (who are usually police officers).
