Likewise, if a woman is caught committing a crime, her punishment is to receive a similar act, where her sex is the focus of public humiliation. Rather than inflicting physical pain or imprisonment, the aim is to deeply shame the offender, causing him to lose his respect and honour in the eyes of the community. Ironically, this system has succeeded in reducing crime, as many fear public repercussions more than physical punishment.
