Jushiro Ukitake

Jūshirō Ukitake (浮竹 十四郎, Ukitake Jūshirō?) was the captain of the Thirteenth Division of the Gotei 13. At one point in time, his lieutenant was Kaien Shiba, and later Rukia Kuchiki. For much of his life, he had Mimihagi, the Spirit King's Right Hand Man, in his body. Currently Ukitake is a resident of Hell and bears the epithet Kamikake (神掛, Suspended God?).

Personality He was very honest, loyal, and believed strongly in his own sense of justice. For this, he is deeply respected by many, especially his subordinates. These qualities can be traced back to Shinō Academy, where he was always the center of attention. He is considered by many to be honorable and trustworthy, so much so that Yoruichi Shihōin leaves Rukia Kuchiki, Hanatarō Yamada, and Ganju Shiba behind when she rescues Ichigo Kurosaki from Byakuya Kuchiki, knowing that Ukitake would not allow any of the three to get hurt. Like Kaien, Ukitake was not one to give up when he felt that something should not be the way it is, and he would not be afraid to go against the rules. According to Yamamoto, he has always had the ability to correctly judge people's character, and to know when they are lonely, Yamamoto also notes that if he had had the chance to train more physically, he would have had so much strength that not even his peers or superiors could have matched him. He is very good friends with Syunsui Kyōraku, a friendship that has existed since their youth. Much like his best friend Shunsui, he refused to fight in the presence of a child or against a child no matter if the child is an enemy, even if that child is an Arrancar. He always maintains a respectful attitude towards his opponent and good manners in combat situations. He also has a high degree of mercy, this can be seen in the battle for Karakura, as he never tried to kill Lilynette, but actually tried to teach her to be a better fighter, despite the fact that she was an enemy. Appearance Ukitake was an unusually tall man, with a slight build, white skin, loose white hair (although 100 years ago he had it tied tightly in a ponytail), brown eyes and a somewhat haggard appearance, since his health is precarious. In volume 18 of the manga, there is talk of his illness, which brings together all the characteristic symptoms of tuberculosis. It is also said that his hair turned white for three days.
