Appearance: The front legs are longer than the back ones and are provided with hooked claws for hanging from branches. It has a small tail, while the two-toed one lacks one. Its claws measure 8 to 10 cm and function as gripping tools, as well as for defense. Sloth size varies according to gender. The two-toed sloth is larger with a body length between 58 and 70 cm and a weight between 4 and 8 kg. The three-toed sloth measures approximately 45 cm in length, with a weight between 3.5 and 4.5 kg. Predators: Some of its main predators are constrictor snakes (anacondas), big cats (pumas and jaguars) and, occasionally, birds of prey (such as the harpy eagle). Feeding: Sloths are classified as folivores, as their diet consists primarily of buds, young shoots, and leaves, primarily from trees in the Cecropia genus. Some sloths have been documented to eat insects, small reptiles, and birds as a supplement to their diet.
