It should not be confused with the species that can be found here: Tensens Lord Tensen are the main antagonists of the anime and manga series Hell's Paradise. They consist of 7 supreme beings known as Tensens who possessed supernatural abilities that held sway over Kotaku and were often told in legends by humans. These seven members of the Tensen spent their time studying and practicing the ways of Taoism in order to achieve perfect immortality and create the legendary Elixir of Life. Description They were viewed by the Hōko as divine beings and believed to have been born when a Sennin split into seven entities after attaining enlightenment. However, this belief was later revealed to be a legend fabricated by the Tensen themselves as part of their research into the Hōko. Because of the Tensen's quest for immortality and the Elixir of Life, they were eventually corrupted by the desire for eternal life. Their actions caused chaos and destruction in Kotaku, leading to their eventual defeat by a group of warriors known as the Mushikari. of their Five Methods of Taoism for Immortality: Dōshi, Chisen, Jōsen, Shinsen, and Tensen. Tensen is the highest and most powerful rank that a Sennin can attain. Tensens, who were born from the Flower Tao, possess an extraordinary ability to regenerate their bodies. They have the power to heal any damage inflicted upon them, regardless of its severity. This includes the regrowth of lost limbs and even their entire heads. The process of regeneration is manifested through the sprouting of unique flowering vines, which vary for each Tensen, from their bodies. These vines restore what was lost to its original state. Sennin view other beings, especially humans, as inferior life forms, with their own species being the strongest as a result of centuries of training in Taoism that have given them tremendous abilities that are also being seen as divine abilities by humans. They view humans primarily and only as sources that they can use to recharge and produce Tan, as well as for their own entertainment. However, when a human shows strong capabilities, they do not show arrogance. The only one of the species that does not show hostility is Mei. After living for a millennium, Rien became extremely advanced in age. She had lost her hair and showed traces of branches and leaves sprouting from her head due to suffering from Arborification. The Tao dolls that Rien controlled reflected her youthful appearance from long ago and wore the same clothing, which consisted of a white robe, a matching long-sleeved hanfu, a hakama, and black boots. For her departure to Japan, Rien had her main doll change into Taoist robes that had a decorated pattern on the collar and belt and wore a crown on her head. After her ship was hijacked, Rien lost these robes to fight her enemies more comfortably, choosing to allow the upper half of her body to be exposed while wearing a beaded necklace and revealing her hidden golden armbands. She also had a ribbon floating freely around her. In her Kishikai, Rien gained two additional pairs of arms with their own golden armbands and three new pairs of eyes; one pair below her original ones and one on her forehead. Her skin became a dark shade, and her body gained a heart-shaped marking located below her collarbones and two markings resembling flaming crowns where her abdomen, or tanden, is. Her body also grew a ring of flowers on the back of her neck. Upon surviving having her plant egg destroyed by Sagiri, a large portion of Rien's body was formed into a bundle of lotus flowers, which included a pair of deformed wings on her back that appeared to have come from the remains of her extra arms.

Rien possessed a sociopathic personality, having spent and endured countless years trying to achieve her goal of reviving her late husband Jofuku by going through horrific extremes involving human lives. She felt nothing for humanity, seeing humans as inferior beings whose only redeeming quality is their Tao that she could use to create Tan without a shred of guilt or remorse, and was more than willing to sacrifice all human life in Japan if it meant she could have Jofuku back in her life again. This callous attitude also applied to other living beings, such as the Hōko, having used them for her research against their will and allowing the Tensens to absorb their Tao. While Rien usually maintained a calm and collected demeanor, she was not exempt from feelings of emotions such as irritation and anger, which often occurred when she was faced with things that interfered with her plans. During her departure for Japan, Rien cried in front of Jofuku's golden corpse and hugged him while expressing her desire to see him again. She later displayed happiness at the thought that her plans were finally nearing completion and made preparations for the momentous occasion, laying out items for a couple. In fact, the only times she remembers being happy were when Jofuku was still by her side. In the past, Rien was noted by the Tensens to have been much kinder and more considerate. However, after the beginning of her Arborification, Rien's apathetic personality developed, as she realized that time was running out for her to complete her research.

Gui Fa

Due to his shyness, Gui Fa is almost always seen keeping his face hidden by a book. When revealed, Gui Fa displays an expressionless face. Rather than taking the side of either a male or female form like his fellow Tensens, Gui Fa chooses to take on a body that combines both genders. Additionally, unlike the other Tensens, Gui Fa is unique in that his eyes are permanently surrounded by dark sclera instead of temporarily activating when experiencing intense emotions due to the body he possesses.[2] During his affiliation with Lord Tensen, Gui Fa wore a white robe with its sleeves tied to the wrists, a hakama tied together with a gem-encrusted obi, and walked barefoot. After expending his Tao trying to protect the Basin, Gui Fa's body was reduced to that of a child. After living until the 21st century, Gui Fa's body eventually returned to its previous form and they began wearing a turtleneck sweater, pants, and shoes. As a child 1,000 years ago, Gui Fa did not have the dark sclera around his eyes Gui Fa maintains a completely impassive demeanor and is known to be extremely shy around others, as he prefers to cover his face with a book at all times to avoid eye contact. According to Mei, Gui Fa was shy even in the past and noticed that it got worse over time. After being approached by Sagiri, Gui Fa desperately tried to make sure that she didn't see his face by changing positions. The only rare times that Gui Fa is willing to show his face to others is if they get serious or if they are in a situation where they would need to use their hands for other things. As a Tensen, Gui Fa does not have the emotional compactness to understand the feelings of other living beings, and

as such, they show no sympathy towards humans, only seeing them as material to create Tan. Gui Fa has even admitted that they believe their species and humans are incapable of reaching an understanding and that they found Sagiri's attempt to negotiate with them futile. Regardless, they have shown no signs of hostility upon encountering them and prefer not to engage in conflict. Gui Fa firmly believes that a Tensen should follow the path of Tao and things like bonds and emotions were less of a priority, going so far as to see Mei's emotions as her simple "acting". After five members of Lord Tensen were defeated by the human survivors, Gui Fa stated that they did not feel a sense of revenge as they considered their deaths to be part of their training and knew that they could simply be revived with the Basin. Upon learning the truth about how they and the other Tensen actually came to be, as well as being left behind by Rien, Gui Fa began to develop a change in behavior. Despite their earlier statement about how a Tensen like them harbors no emotional feelings of attachment, even towards their own kind, Gui Fa told Mei that they were happy to see that she was still alive amidst the chaos of the Banko and made the decision to care for the deceased Tensen who had been cultivating in the Basin for a millennium with Mei by their side, who they also hoped would be resurrected sooner than necessary. Towards the humans, Gui Fa began to allow themselves to show sympathy for the race they had subsisted on for centuries, such as warning Yuzuriha about the fates of the human survivors through the I Ching, as well as helping Tōma revive Chōbei using the Basin. Despite their role as Tensen focusing solely on the path of the Tao, it was hinted by Gui Fa that they deeply desired to understand the meaning of life. Upon hearing Mei explain how she learned what it means to live after being raised by Hōko, the Tensen admitted

for a brief moment they felt a sense of envy towards her. Ultimately, Gui Fa would make the decision to leave her past on the island behind and start a new life where they would learn to adapt to human society. Unlike the other Tensens (with Zhu Jin as an exception), Gui Fa prefers to stay in the middle ground, as he does not side with one gender and instead chooses to maintain a body that displays both sexes. Because of this viewpoint, Gui Fa finds Bōchū Jutsu training to be a ridiculous concept and believes that his method is more effective.

Ju Fa

In his and Tao Fa's Kishikai state, their bodies fused together to create a large, bulbous body, somewhat resembling a heart, formed from their Yin and Yang bodies, with unusually shaped petals acting as feathers/wings, and vines coming out of the bottom as tails. The Kishikai's head had four faces, the two on the left being Ju Fa's Yin and Yang faces, while the right being Tao Fa's. When changing into its defensive form, the body releases multiple spore vines and its faces switch places. According to Fuchi, he felt that his Kishikai was the embodiment of "love". Ju Fa was very short-tempered and had aggressive tendencies towards anything that even slightly irritated him, which even applied to his fellow Lord Tensen members, as he destroyed Zhu Jin's head for allowing Gabimaru, a human, to get the better of them in a fight. While it is true that all members of Lord Tensen have a complete disregard for human life, Ju Fa was the only Tensen who truly despised the race with a passion, believing them to be nothing more than "livestock" in the breeding of more Tan. After Aza Chōbei joined Lord Tensen, Ju Fa did not bother to properly address him by name, instead referring to him as "it", and

, and refused to have Tao Fa become friendly with him. He also expressed his disgust at being in the same room as him. In addition to this personality, Ju Fa possessed a genuinely strong love and care for his partner and other half Tao Fa. He had been very protective of her ever since the two were little, as he could not bear to see her hurt even if their bodies were capable of healing, and he also sympathized with her deep sadness of wanting to end Lord Tensen's quest for immortality. Although Tao Fa showed signs of being mentally ill as she tried to cope with her depression, Ju Fa did not look at her that way, but rather saw the world they lived in as crazy. Ju Fa preferred to assume their Yang form as they felt that the male gender was well suited to them because of their moods and ease of handling. In terms of their Yin form, Ju Fa was open to using the female body for Bōchū Jutsu.

Mu Dan

He wore a dark, long-sleeved Taoist robe with a Yin-Yang diagram in the center, a beaded necklace with a peony flower attached to the end, loose pants, and dark boots. In his first appearance, Mu Dan's head was not completely formed and was replaced by peony flowers. In his Kishikai form, Mu Dan had a pair of emaciated bodies representing his Yin and Yang forms that were attached together from the head. The bodies had long, elongated necks and a long, thin arm. The bodies were attached from the pants to a large, blooming flower and were supported by two legs that separated from the bottom to form two thin sticks. Mu Dan had a calm and carefree demeanor, as he usually carried a smile on his face while having a straightforward manner of speaking. Beneath his carefree demeanor, Mu Dan possessed a cruel and sadistic personality towards humans, as Tao Fa noted that he was well-known within Lord Tensen for his love of toying with the race. While Lord Tensen's main goal is to extract Tao from humans to create Tan, Mu Dan took the group's complete disregard for human life a step further by modifying the humans who venture onto the island into his personal minions that he can use as he pleases, whether it be to make them fight on his behalf or just act as his chair. He also goes so far as to not think of them as servants, but rather as his toys. This poor treatment can be seen as an obsession, as Mu Dan

expressed his love for tinkering as he sat on a Kyōshi and happily thought of the ways he had planned to modify Sagiri, Senta, and Yuzuriha once he captured them. As a Tensen, Mu Dan valued humans for their exquisite Tao and was most delighted upon encountering one that showed promise. When he sensed that Yuzuriha was capable of perceiving the Tao, Mu Dan's curiosity was piqued as to how far she could go if he could teach her how to wield it properly through battle, which would benefit him as he could subdue her to the Bōchū Jutsu. In his final moments, Mu Dan was captivated by Shion's state of Tao that leaned towards the concept of Yin-Yang harmonization. Like the other members of Lord Tensen, Mu Dan lacked feelings of empathy and sympathy even for his own comrades, as he showed no signs of pity for Zhu Jin after they were reduced to a weakened state and simply mocked them along with Tao Fa. Despite this, he supports Lord Tensen's goal of achieving perfect immortality. 200 years ago, Mu Dan spoke with disappointment in his voice that Lord Tensen would soon fail in his mission if the Hōko died and gave in to despair, along with Tao Fa and Ju Fa, by resorting to luring humans from the mainland to the island.

Ran

He wore a changshan with a flower pattern, a sleeveless shirt underneath that also had flower patterns, dark pants, and sandals. In their Kishikai state, Ran's body grew to an enormous size, made entirely of long black and white leaves, and a single dark left chest. They had four arms, each pair representing their two chi's. They also had a pair of heads representing their Yin and Yang, and were joined at the mouth. The heads were surrounded by leaves that they could close to protect their faces, resembling a burgonet helmet. Ran was very loyal to Rien and had the same view of seeing the Tensens as family. Upon reuniting with Mei after the two had been separated for so long, Ran was filled with joy and tried to beg her banished sister to join Lord Tensen, stating that it broke her heart after finding out she left and believing that Rien only banished her out of love. Even after she refused, Ran still wished for her to return, even if she had to use force. Like all members of Lord Tensen, Ran had no sympathy for humans and used them as he saw fit. He believed it was a futile effort for the invaders to invade the palace and try to oppose the Tensen, showing signs that he views them as inferior compared to his family. However, he is not above praising or admiring them if they display impressive abilities. Due to the specialization in

Dō'in, Ran was extremely passionate about the physical workings of the body and the fighting styles that can only be obtained through diligent training. As such, he had a tendency to stretch his body even in conversation. When transforming into his Kishikai, Ran expressed his physicality while attacking Gabimaru and Yuzuriha. He was also up for the challenge of facing the two in his use of ninjutsu to strengthen his Dō'in training.

Tao Fa

In her and Ju Fa's Kishikai state, their bodies fused together to create a large, bulbous body, somewhat resembling a heart, formed from their Yin and Yang bodies, with unusually shaped petals acting as feathers/wings, and vines coming out of the bottom as tails. The Kishikai's head had four faces, the two on the right being Tao Fa's Yin and Yang faces, while the left being Ju Fa's. When changing into its defensive form, the body releases multiple spore vines and its faces switch places. In Fuchi's opinion, the appearance of Tao Fa and Ju Fa's Kishikai was the embodiment of "love". Tao Fa was outwardly cheerful and friendly, as she was rarely seen in a bad mood, which was a stark contrast to her partner Ju Fa. Even after Chōbei's betrayal, where the human cooperated with her brother to attack and cut off his head, Tao Fa did not express any anger towards him for his actions, but rather disappointment for thinking that they had formed a friendship. Her behavior also applied to humans, or at least those who were willing to cooperate with Lord Tensen's plans, such as Chōbei. However, she still carried the same vision of using them as tools to create Tan and showed no signs of

remorse towards them. Being an expert in Bōchū Jutsu, Tao Fa was quite vulgar and often enjoyed flirting with others. After meeting Chōbei and Tōma for the first time, Tao Fa asked if they wanted to join her and Ju Fa in Bōchū Jutsu and offered herself to Fuchi despite him being her enemy, seductively stating that she was willing to show him anything he wanted to see, it was only her organs that Fuchi was interested in. She also had a preference as to who she found attractive. During their meeting, Tao Fa liked Fuchi because she thought he looked cute, while ignoring Gantetsusai because of his advanced age and feeling disgusted when he expressed his perverted behavior towards her body.

Zhu Jin

For his attire, Zhu Jin wore a shirt with a large collar, a beaded necklace, an extravagant dark skirt, a hakama, and dark boots. On top, Zhu Jin wore a hanfu decorated with dark markings and two long sashes that fluttered around them. Upon entering his Kishikai, Zhu Jin's body took the form of a massive hibiscus-like flower with flower tentacles at the bottom. Two bodies representing Zhu Jin's Yin and Yang forms acted as the flower's style and had four anthers protruding from the top. When partially transformed, part of Zhu Jin's hair, arms down to his chest, and torso darkened with sprouting bulbs and long leaves forming behind his body, making his form somewhat resemble a revealing coat. His ears were also more pointed and his fingers became claws. After fusing with Banko, the giant flower took the form of Zhu Jin's head with vines and anthers sprouting from it and holds a flowerbed inside the top of its head with a replica of Zhu Jin's Yin body as a stigma. By dawn, Banko's form fused with Zhu Jin evolved further, where it developed a body with veins and flowers sprouting from holes in layers around it, two pairs of breasts, and four arms. Strands of vines also began to hang freely from its body.

Zhu Jin PT 2

Zhu Jin is characterized as an unenthusiastic individual who tends to overexert himself in the tasks he is given, which is largely demonstrated by the constant bored expression on his face. During his training in the Five Immortality Training Methods, Zhu Jin was known for lazily going through his lessons.[2] After encountering Gabimaru at the entrance of the Hōrai Gate once they had finished dealing with Tenza and his companions, they expressed their depression at having to do their job twice and, instead of fighting Gabimaru at first, begged him to leave. Consequently, Zhu Jin's sloppy attitude caused them to suffer greatly in battles against strong opponents and would turn to using their Kishikai abilities to make up for their mistakes. Due to this behavior, Zhu Jin was considered the Tensens' younger brother.
