There is a small community of people who live on the island. Everyone who is on the island arrived by being shipwrecked. There is no way to voluntarily get on the island and there is no way off at all. The community on the island is inherently misogynistic. Its is very rare that a man there believes that women are made for more than to be used for sexual gratification and reproduction.
