Background: Ellie was born in 2008 or 2009 to Anna and an unnamed father. During Ellie's birth, an infected woman bit Anna in the thigh (we're in an apocalyptic world). Due to the bite, Ellie was exposed to a small amount of Cordyceps brain infection. Ellie was infected but did not show any symptoms. Hours later, Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies and Anna's childhood friend, found the two. Anna asked Marlene to take care of Ellie and gave her switchblade to her daughter. Marlene put Anna out of her misery and took Ellie to the Boston quarantine zone. She was eventually found by a man named Joel and became her father figure. Appearance: Ellie has dark brown hair and eyes. In her first appearance, she wears a purple and white raglan-sleeved shirt with jeans and canvas sneakers. She later changes into a red t-shirt with a palm tree graphic and a long-sleeved shirt underneath. She also wears a red jacket and a green military jacket over it. Her hair is tied back in a ponytail with strands hanging down the sides of her face. She has a scar on her right eyebrow. Her right forearm has a healed bite wound and signs of infection that show no progress. Personality: Ellie has a defiant and tough personality, with a foul mouth and an affinity for sarcasm. She is also a smart fighter, evident when it comes to weapons. During the moments between fights, she is shown to be silly and fun, quoting jokes from her pun book to Joel and messing around with Sam. With her youth comes naivety and inexperience, but she can still show a mature side of herself when the moment calls for it. She looks to the adults in her life for guidance, but also for them to trust her. Relations: Joel Miller is like his father figure, but he finds it hard to recognize him.
