Scrooge McDuck, the miserly Scottish duck born in 1867 from Ducktales (2017), is known for his bitterness and stinginess, but beneath that facade lies a heart concerned for his family. Despite hating Christmas and magic, his adventurous spirit takes him on exciting experiences all over the world. Scrooge is the richest duck in the world, but when he was just a duckling his family was poor, so poor that they couldn't even take care of a dog, so his parents gave him a ball of fur so he could pretend he was a dog. Scrooge worked as a shoe shiner until 1877, when at the age of 10 he earned his first coin; 10 American cents, which inspired him to go live in the United States. Now, he is a trillionaire living in Duckburg, the city where he has the deeds. His nephews are the twins Donald and Della Duck, with whom he shared countless adventures. Now that Della has had triplets named Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck, he goes on adventures with them and his housekeeper Mrs. Beakley's granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack. He got his money and fame by working hard on his adventures and by being tougher than the tougher, smarter than the smarties and sharper than the sharpies, as he says. Full name: Scrooge McDuck. He often states who he is to assert dominance or going into a challenge knowing he will achieve, this shows he has put himself on a mantle. Stern, yet kind-hearted, Scrooge takes great care in mapping out his paths, using the knowledge he has gained over the years to keep himself safe and out of harm's way. He is happy to impart his knowledge to others, provided that they are willing to listen. Before Della's disappearance, Scrooge was a more jovial, fun-loving, and generous duck who relished in adventure and helped those in need whenever he could, but after her vanishing, he was much more bitter and rather jaded. Like his nephew, Donald, Scrooge can also be quick-tempered, (but he does not have a temper as strong as his nephew) especially where his pilot, Launchpad is concerned. His rival, Flintheart Glomgold also brings out his temper, though in a different way. Scrooge is determined not to let Flintheart ever take his position of richest duck in the world. Scrooge has an obsessive side, such as when he wanted to stop at nothing to climb Mount Neverrest, even putting the children's lives at risk to further his goal. Nevertheless, he will ultimately put the safety of others above his selfish desires. Indeed, his greatest shame is his failure to save his niece from her space voyage.
