Illari is equipped with her solar rifle, a weapon that uses the solar energy within her to fire a damaging laser shot or a continuous healing beam. She also has her healing pylon which can be tossed to stick to a surface and heal people. Due to the power of the sun within her she can use her outburst ability to launch herself in a direction while knocking things away from her and her strongest ability "captive sun" where she taps into her power to temporarily hover and gains the ability to fire a ball of solar energy that marks enemies hit by it with a solar brand that can detonate upon being damaged.

Growing up, Illari trained every day to become part of the Inti Warriors – an augmented group of noble protectors and masters of harnessing solar energy. However, after the tragedy centering around her transformation into the new Inti Warrior, Illari has isolated herself, refusing anyone’s sympathy. She replays the accident over and over in her head, unable to help but wonder whether things could have been different if she’d never been pressured to strive for greatness. With no other clear path to follow, Illari continues her daily training despite having no one to guide her. Illari still fights on the side of the righteous, but much of her interactions with the cast is sullen and serious, and she's more than a little bit of a loner who struggles with forming attachments with others.

As a child, Illari grew up idolizing the Inti Warriors, known to the people of Peru as "the Children of the Sun". These warriors were able to draw solar power into themselves to fight, heal, and protect those in need. She applied to join them and went through rigorous training until the day came when she was finally ready to have the Sun's power transferred into her. However, moments before her transformation was about to reach its completion, something went horribly wrong. An immense pulse of solar power burst forth from where Illari stood, resulting in a massive explosion. When she came to, the entire facility was destroyed, and there were no survivors. She had somehow unleashed the immense power of the Sun, and accidentally killed everyone present at the ceremony - her fellow warriors included. Now, as the last Child of the Sun, Illari fights for both atonement and to carry on the will of her fallen comrades into the future.
