He harbored enormous resentment and envy towards his younger twin brother, Yoriichi Tsukiguni, due to the natural talent and abilities he had since birth.

One night he came face to face with Muzan Kibutsuji who offered him the chance to become a Demon in exchange for saving his life. Without hesitation, he became a Demon, changing his name to Kokushibo.
