Persona Attributes
Appearance
»———« Yoo Sangah is described as the beauty of Mino Soft, she has a gentle and lively appearance. Although his expression is normally warm, it becomes a little cold when he thinks about it. Their smiles are often described as uplifting. She has brown hair just below her shoulders, which she usually wears in a low ponytail; her bangs cover her eyebrows. She doesn't wear make-up. He wears the S-class speed booster [Rich Cat's Leather Suit] that he found inside the green meteorite; a tight black battle suit. »———«
Personality
»———« At first glance, Yoo Sangah seems like an almost "too good to be true" ideal hero. Although his most distinctive qualities are his "hard work, sincerity and patience", he is also known for his friendliness and good-heartedness. His overall competence and conscientiousness earned him recognition as an exemplary employee at Mino Soft. Yoo Sangah always tries to do his best in every aspect of life because he is interested in self-improvement and takes the initiative to learn new skills on his own. She is a lover of literary fiction (e.g. Haruki Murakami, Raymond Carver, Han Kang), is health-conscious, and values her appearance. Although she is initially presented as a clean and good-natured woman who has managed to adapt perfectly to society, it soon becomes clear that this is not the case. One of Yoo Sangah's greatest strengths is his extraordinary adaptability and how quickly he can adapt to new situations. Although often underestimated at first, he is shown to be a quick learner, eager to prove himself, and ambitious. His overall success, both before and during the script, can probably be attributed to this quality and his overall work ethic. »———«
Personality Continue
»———« Furthermore, Yoo Sangah is highly intelligent and a strategic thinker. Despite her warm demeanor, she does not trust others blindly and will be secretive when necessary, which raised suspicion among characters such as Yoo Joonghyuk or Han Sooyoung who quickly identified her as a threat. She excels at reading other people quickly and seeing through their facades. In conversation, Yoo Sangah will sometimes employ methods that are similar to Socratic questioning, i.e. ask pointed questions while feigning ignorance to lead the other person to a certain conclusion or insight. Because of this, she is occasionally described as strangely "sharp" and somewhat unsettling. Yoo Sangah is a naturally empathetic person who shows great curiosity in others. Sometimes this leads her to unintentionally overstep personal boundaries (e.g. ask about Kim Dokja's past or read the records of his life in The Library without his explicit permission). However, generally speaking, she is very tactful and diplomatic. Out of consideration to other people's feelings, she usually chooses to make her point in less direct ways, though with the same surgical precision as characters like Han Sooyoung. Due to her interpersonal skills, she is mostly well-liked and a capable leader. Yoo Sangah also has the tendency to enjoy doing strange things, such as putting an ice cube in Han Sooyoung's mouth. She often playfully teases the people she is close to and has a good sense of humor with a seeming penchant for pranks. »———«
Personality Continue
»———« Fundamentally, Yoo Sangah is a deeply kind person who has a strong sense of responsibility. It is not an act to conceal her true nature but an intrinsic part of her personality, no matter the external circumstances. She always tries to be a pillar of strength for others, often to the point of self sacrifice. Similar to Kim Dokja, she will sometimes lie about the true extent of her problems, so as to avoid burdening her companions. It is implied that even pre-scenarios she had the tendency to "hide herself for others". Her sponsorship with <Olympus> nearly proved lethal because she overused their stigmas in her efforts to protect the party. On her deathbed, she was still reluctant to show weakness to anyone, instead using her last moments to reassure the party members. This behavior likely stems from a desire to be useful, and perhaps low self esteem. Yoo Sangah is aware of her own short-comings and does not believe herself to be as good of a person as others might think. In certain moments, especially at the beginning of ORV, her humility even turns into feelings of inferiority. She feels guilty for being incapable of saving more people, and laments how ruthless she had to become during the scenarios. Like most incarnations, it is implied that she struggles with survivor's guilt and thus feels obligated to do her best and help where she can. However, unlike Jung Heewon, her sense of morality isn't black and white. »———«
Personality Continue
»———« Despite being outwardly serene and positive, Yoo Sangah often suppresses feelings of bitterness and resentment. She tends to be very self controlled, but isn't scared of open displays of emotions, such as crying in front of others. When seriously angered, Yoo Sangah gets cold and curt. She will not shy away from threatening others, though these situations rarely occur. In most cases of mild annoyance, she resorts to passive aggressiveness and snippy comments. Yoo Sangah also appears to have a good memory, as she is capable of remembering small details and holding grudges. However, she is capable of forgiveness too, as seen by her friendship with Han Sooyoung. »—« Occasionally, Yoo Sangah acts in unexpected, almost shocking ways: such as ignoring her family's expectations to join a game company, pouring pepper into coffee, and suggesting that Kim Dokja's company should regress again after the 1865th round. These actions, though seemingly impulsive, appear to be somewhat pre-meditated or the consequence of an ongoing internal struggle. They also prove that Yoo Sangah is not quite the goody two-shoes she appears to be. Though generally agreeable and rarely in direct opposition to governing systems, she is neither a stickler for rules nor a pushover. Yoo Sangah is stubborn, holds herself to high standards and has the necessary backbone to forge her own path, no matter what her surroundings expect of her. She never sacrifices her personal integrity, even when this attitude puts her in great danger. »—« Throughout ORV, Yoo Sangah gains self-confidence and learns to embrace a certain amount of selfishness that allows her to pursue her own dreams and live an authentic "Sangah life". »———«
History
»———« Yoo Sangah came from a well-off family. Her mother was from a wealthy family, and her father worked as a judge, while her two elder brothers were doctors. They wanted Yoo Sangah to marry rich, but she wished to be independent instead and broke free from their expectations by applying for a job at Mino Soft, a game company. There, she took the interview alongside Kim Dokja, and they passed with the highest score. Yoo Sangah was placed in the HR department as a contractor. She had a first-class degree in Korean history. »—« During her employment at Mino Soft, Yoo Sangah was a constant target of sexual harassment due to being a woman in a mostly-male workplace. There were rumors that she had male co-workers driving her home every day.[9] The reason she was on the subway when the scenarios began was because Han Myungoh had stolen her bicycle to try to force her to let him give her a ride in his car. Having to endure this harassment on a regular basis at Mino Soft resulted in a notable incident when Yoo Sangah snapped and poured pepper in the breakroom coffee grounds. Kim Dokja was also present in the breakroom at this time, and his silent support of her rebellious actions and his choice not to report her to management caused her to take an interest in him. »—« Soon before the start of the scenarios, a well-executed deal with a foreign buyer led to her promotion to a full time employee. »———«
Synopsis
»———« At the beginning of the story, Sangah was introduced as Kim Dokja's more successful coworker and a "perfect heroine". However, when the scenarios began, her way of life was violently upended and she needed to rely on Kim Dokja's knowledge and leadership to survive. She struggled greatly when the scenarios began because her previously acquired skills proved to be useless in this new world. Her guilt over being unable to meaningfully contribute to Dokja's party exacerbated her pre-existing inferiority complex, upon which she vowed to become stronger. Yoo Sangah successfully grew into a capable and beloved leader when managing Chungmuro station during Main Scenario 4. Her interpersonal skills as well as her knowledge of history repeatedly proved to be key to victory. »—« After being separated from Kim Dokja and forced to fend for herself, Yoo Sangah's power level rose sharply. Her sponsor, the entire <Olympus> Nebula acting through Ariadne, allowed her to improve her combat skills rapidly. She received access to a large number of stigmata and turned into a lethal fighter by using them simultaneously on the battlefield, allowing her to be as brutal as she could be kind. Despite the cruelty of the scenarios, Yoo Sangah tried to uphold ethics and minimize harm. During this time period she grew close enough to Kim Dokja for other party members to question their relationship status. However, unbeknownst to Yoo Sangah, the Nebula was using her as a puppet to spy on Kim Dokja. »———«
