After Yugi became fully aware of Yami Yugi's existence, Yugi is able to willingly exchange control of his consciousness with Yami Yugi.

PERSONALITY 🍁

•Yami Yugi starts out as a ruthless vigilante. He emerges as a vigilante when Yugi and his friends find themselves in a bind. Though his actions are just, the punishments meted out in his games are often brutal. Most of them are deluded. Some time later, Yami Yugi manages to defeat Seto Kaiba by Summoning Exodia (also destroying his three Blue-Eyes White Dragons) and uses its power to break the malice in his mind. •He is a bit reserved, as he does not reveal his existence to Yugi or his friends at first. After Yugi admits to thinking that "another Yugi" exists inside him, his friends become aware of his existence and accept him as a friend. In the manga it is different, as it is not Yugi Muto who first realizes his existence, •Yami Yugi's pride is his greatest strength and weakness. At first he refuses to lose games, regardless of the consequences.

•Yami Yugi is also wise and intelligent. He knows all the rules and details of how Duel Monsters is played. It is worth noting that, according to himself, he has been known by many names throughout his millennia-long existence in the world, which he possesses thanks to the Millennium Puzzle, and apparently, he not only has his natural wisdom on his side, but also the learning obtained thanks to years of experience in dealing with villains, which he claims to have had throughout the centuries; Thanks to this, Yami Yugi has a special ability to put an end to the tricks and dishonest plays of those who have faced him (many times these people took advantage of Yami Yugi's ignorance of their strategies to use them against him, without him understanding what was happening until his opponent explained the dirty trick he had just played on him) or that put them in a situation of extreme advantage to beat him, which he achieved thanks to an adequate combination of his ability to secretly keep his tactics until the precise moment, and a set of dueling strategies that always turned out to be very useful, making them work with almost any card he had at hand to attack.

•He is also able to read the ancient language of the Egyptians, figure out riddles or clues and what they mean. Likewise, Yami has a deep sense of correctness and a desire to help his enemies. More than simply taking revenge on the villains who act against him, Yami's ultimate goal when battling them consisted, in almost all cases, in breaking down the erroneous or deviant concepts and ideas they used to justify their actions, trying to make them see that they were wrong to act as they did, getting to the true origin of their behavior by exploring their past, finally getting them to change their attitude by usually defeating them in a decisive duel, •Likewise, Yami possesses a deep sense of correctness and a desire to help his enemies. APPEARANCE 🍡

•While existing in Yugi Muto's body, his appearance is largely the same as Yugi's, though many changes take place when Yami Yugi takes control. The main difference is that Yami Yugi looks more like a teenager than Yugi, being taller and having a deeper voice. The difference in height is noticeable with him being taller. His eyes are also narrower with a more intense and determined look. •A major characteristic of Yami Yugi is the multiple layers in his hair. He has long blond bangs with twisted locks, although unlike Yugi, three strands of blond hair stick out slightly at an angle from his mane. The rest of his hair features six large black spikes with dark magenta edges. At first his bangs were loose and moved freely, but over time they became stiffer. At the beginning of the series it seems that no one notices the physical change that Yugi has undergone to Yami Yugi, but Yugi begins to notice it and tells his friends about it. This is how they discover the existence of Yami Yugi, the spirit that inhabits the Millennium Puzzle. CLOTHING🪄 •His usual attire consists of the normal male Domino City High School student uniform with a black spiked collar and a buckle. He also wears bracelets resembling his collar on his knuckles. It is noteworthy that Yami Yugi's uniform takes on a darker tone when he takes control. The bracelets are later removed. Much to Yugi's displeasure, Yami Yugi sometimes wears his jacket as a cape. In the manga, by the first volume, he sometimes has anks on his sleeves. He carries the Millennium Puzzle on a rope, although in the second season he changes it to a chain around his neck.

ORIGINS 🌅🐫

• Atem was a Pharaoh who defeated Zorc Necrophades in the past, sacrificing his own life in the process. He used his name as part of a spell in which he sealed Zorc and his own soul into the Millennium Puzzle, which was broken and buried in his tomb. •5,000 years later, the Millennium Puzzle was found by Solomon Muto. Solomon's guide tried to kill him in order to take the Pharaoh's treasure. After the guide was killed by a monster, Solomon was saved by the apparent spirit of Pharaoh Atem (Yami Yugi). When he returned home, he took the Millennium Puzzle with him. His grandson, Yugi Muto, solved the Puzzle, causing the Pharaoh's spirit to now inhabit Yugi's body. The Pharaoh's soul, who becomes known as "the other Yugi" or "Yami Yugi", does not remember most of the memories of his former life in ancient Egypt.
