Jean Pierre Polnareff

Origin of the character

Jean-Pierre Polnareff (ジャン＝ピエール・ポルナレフ, Jan Piēru Porunarefu?) is a character from JoJos bizarre adventure, main character in Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. During Stardust Crusaders, Polnareff travels with Jotaro and Joseph to try to find his sister's killer, who turns out to be a man with two right hands.

Appearance

Polnareff is a man of above average height and a fairly well-built body. He combs his hair up, parting it straight across his head. He also wears earrings shaped like a broken heart, wearing one half in each ear. His eyes are blue and his skin is pale, lacking eyebrows. Polnareff wears a tight black tank top, with no shoulders except for a strap that runs from his chest over his left shoulder. He also wears a pair of grey pants.

Personality

Polnareff is a conceited but honorable and well-intentioned Frenchman. Polnareff's most defining trait is his honor. In his first appearance he sets about explaining his skill and fighting his adversary Avdol on ground more suited to the latter. Adopting a chivalrous mindset, Polnareff refuses to run away from a fight or use dishonorable tactics, though he can be persuaded. In fact, he was somewhat glad to see Chaka challenge him directly. Polnareff is also very eager to avenge his fallen loved ones, for example by traveling the world to search for the one who killed his sister Sherry. Likewise, Polnareff comes off as arrogant, confrontational and can be quite impulsive. Polnareff is also the least serious member of the group. He is perhaps the one who brings most of his companions together, casually joking around with Kakyoin, Joseph, and even Jotaro. Being very outgoing, he has no problem expressing joy or sadness, thus being the most compassionate of the group, being the one to mourn his companions openly. This trait pushed the other members of the Joestar group to not reveal that Avdol had not died and was recovering. As a "sophisticated" man, Polnareff cannot stand dirty places, especially dirty bathrooms. He also tends to speak in his native language, French, from time to time, whether in nicknames or small expressions.

About stands

The Stand is only used in serious combat, and usually with another Stand owner. A Stand is a psychically created entity by its owner, commonly called a Stand. It is considered a physical manifestation of the user's spiritual power. The Stand usually depicts a figure floating next to the user and possesses abilities different from those of ordinary people, which, according to the Stand user, can be used for good or evil. Stands are defined as embodiments of "life energy", whose abilities are given in visual form. The Stand can also represent a manifestation of a person's "spirit" and, to some extent, embodies the human psyche. Aside from this definition, Stands come in a variety of forms and with different behaviors, if reasonable at all. They follow flexible sets of rules that are regularly violated, and there is no real standard by which Stands can be fully classified. Such as the embodiment of the soul or psycho.

Stand the Polnareff

Polnareff's humanoid Stand is Silver Chariot, one of the fastest of all; utilizing a rapier in a flexible and deadly offense. Swordsmanship: Polnareff's training with Silver Chariot and an offhand comment about Chaka's amateur sword stance suggest that Polnareff himself is a skilled swordsman. His skill is somewhat demonstrated when, after being possessed by Anubis, he was able to best none other than Star Platinum.

Relations

Sherry Polnareff: Not much has been shown about their relationship. However, it is quite obvious that he loved her very much. He spent years training his Silver Chariot and spent three years searching for the man who raped and murdered his sister who was J. Geil. Muhammad Avdol: Possibly his best friend throughout the journey, Polnareff initially encountered the soothsayer under Dio's control (as he had a cocoon of flesh on his head) and challenged him to a battle. Avdol recognized his chivalrous soul and Polnareff was subsequently saved. Noriaki Kakyoin: The two were good friends and although they weren't as close to him as he was with Avdol, the two cared for each other a lot and worked well together in battles, such as Polnareff's battle with J. Geil and when Joseph was infected by Lovers, Kakyoin and Polnareff worked together to defeat him. Jotaro Kujo: Polnareff and Jotaro were very close, their friendship was one of the few relationships where Jotaro showed open gestures of friendship, such as comforting Polnareff when he rejected a potential love interest and a tearful goodbye hug. Joseph Joestar: The two got along well with Polnareff respecting Joseph's powers and authority and Joseph likewise respecting Polnareff's abilities with Silver Chariot.

Personal history (past)

Polnareff was born in the French countryside with his Stand already in his possession, though he would not realize this until some time later. His mother died when he was still young, leaving him a very lonely child. This was made worse when, three years prior to the events of Part 3, his sister was ambushed, raped, and murdered by J. Geil, sparking Polnareff's desire to seek revenge. Polnareff subsequently constantly trains with his Stand in order to avenge his sister and kill J. Geil. His Stand powers caught the attention of DIO, who lured him out using Jonathan's Stand and then brainwashed him.
