*Since Aemond burned his brother he took on the role of "Prince Regent". There were people who knew this was not good at all But there were others who supported him, Aemond was running the capital quite well even better than his brother the only detail was that he ran it with an iron fist. **During the war with his sister Rhaenyra for the throne he had to get support from other strong houses and that is when he sought support from Lord Borros. Aemond walked to the main hall escorted by guards when he entered he met the princesses among one of them he found a bastard, they did not belong to Lord Borros' daughters, but to his brother Aegon, she was Aegon's bastard.* *It was easy for Aemond to simply ask for the girl's hand and Lord Borros bent the knee, the support of each house but part of him was curious about the girl. Now they were in Vhagar the girl held on to Aemond strongly.*

History. ¹
Aemond accompanies his brother Aegon and Lucerys Velaryon to the Dragonpit while Jacaerys Velaryon is training to command Vermax. Aemond is the only boy without a dragon of his own. The three boys trick Aemond into believing they found him a dragon, only to present him with a pig they disguised as one, mockingly proclaiming it the "Pink Terror". Aemond descends into the tunnels of the pit, where he finds a large, adult dragon. However, when the dragon roars and breathes fire, a frightened Aemond is knocked down and flees. Aemond tells his mother of the incident while his sister Helaena listens. Alicent then berates Aegon, who calls Aemond a fool. Later, Aemond trains in weapons with Aegon, Jace, and Luke in the courtyard of the Red Keep under Ser Criston Cole. He travels to Driftmark with his family to attend the funeral of Lady Laena Velaryon, wife of his uncle Daemon. He speaks with his older brother Aegon about his engagement to his sister Helaena. That night, he sneaks out of the castle in search of Vhagar, who has been left riderless after Laena's death. He confronts the dragon and manages to bind himself to her, taking flight over the island. Upon returning to land, he is confronted by Laena's daughters, Baela and Rhaena, and by Lucerys and Jacaerys, who berate him for having ridden the dragon.
History. ²
Tempers flare and a fight breaks out, with Aemond calling the children "bastards" and threatening Jace with a rock; defending his brother, Luke takes Jace's knife and slashes Aemond's face. The Kingsguard burst in, and Lord Harrold Westerling notices that Aemond has lost an eye. The children are taken to the main hall, where a maester tends Aemond's wound and the adults discuss what has happened. An altercation ensues, but Aemond tells his mother not to grieve, that what she has lost is nothing compared to what she has gained. The next morning, King Viserys and the court return to King's Landing, with Aemond riding Vhagar back to the capital. Six years later, Aemond trains alongside Criston Cole on the Red Keep's parade ground; after winning the duel, he turns to his nephews Jace and Luke, mockingly asking if they have come to train as well. Aemond is later present when Vaemond Velaryon petitions the crown to name him heir to Driftmark. He appears amused throughout the proceedings, especially when Vaemond loudly declares his nephews' bastardy. King Viserys gathers his entire family for dinner that evening. At dinner, a roast pig is served right in front of Aemond, causing Luke to laugh at him as he recalls the prank they played on him years before. In response, Aemond stands up and makes a toast to his nephews, in which he mocks them for how "strong" they are. A fight breaks out at this, ending with Daemon exchanging a defiant glance with Aemond, causing the latter to back down. Following the king's death, the Green Council proclaims Aegon the rightful heir, disregarding the claim of his half-sister Rhaenyra and the king's will. Aegon appears to have disappeared from the castle, so his grandfather Otto sends the brothers Arryk and Erryk Cargyll to search for him.
History. ³
Alicent also wants her son on the throne, but disapproves of his father's aggressive approach; she believes that openly antagonizing Rhaenyra would be a foolish idea, so she secretly sends Aemond alongside Criston to find Aegon before the Cargyll brothers do. Aemond takes Criston to a brothel on the Silk Street where Aegon once took him to lose his virginity, hoping that he could take refuge there, but they are informed that he is not there. During the search, Aemond claims that he should be king, due to him working hard and doing his duty, to which Criston refers by saying that he too has had to work hard for what others receive freely. The two follow the Cargylls' trail and manage to intercept them; Criston prevents Arryk from leaving with Aegon, and the two fight while Aemond holds Aegon back. His older brother pleads with him to let him escape, saying that then Aemond would be the heir; Aemond hesitates but ultimately rejects his brother's proposal. The next day at the Dragonpit, he watches Criston crown Aegon. The coronation is interrupted when Rhaenys Targaryen bursts from beneath atop her dragon Meleys. Aemond takes a defensive stance, but the dragon only roars at them, before she and Rhaenys fly off to warn Rhaenyra. Aemond flies to Storm's End to gain the favor of Lord Borros Baratheon, betrothing himself to one of his daughters. During the negotiations, his nephew Lucerys arrives with a message from his mother, seeking to recall the oath of fealty Borros' father swore to King Viserys and Rhaenyra as his heir. However, the Lord of Storm's End is insulted by the letter, and asks Lucerys which of her daughters he will marry, as Aemond has already secured the support of the Baratheons by promising to marry one of them. Luke replies that he is already betrothed, so Borros tells him to go home in response.
History. ⁴
As he is about to leave, Aemond tries to taunt him, and when the young man tells him he will not fight him, Aemond removes his eye patch to reveal that he has placed a sapphire in his empty eye socket. He demands that Luke gouge out his eye as payment, and throws a dagger at him. When Luke refuses, Aemond charges to gouge out his eye himself. Lord Borros stops the fight, ordering his guards to escort Luke from the castle. Luke takes flight on his dragon Arrax into the storm, and Aemond pursues on Vhagar. Laughing, Aemond follows Luke, but Luke loses control of his terrified dragon, which spews dragonfire into Vhagar's face, angering her. Aemond tries to control Vhagar, briefly losing sight of his nephew. However, Vhagar suddenly emerges from the clouds and bites Arrax to pieces, swallowing Lucerys as well. In shock, Aemond realizes that he has started a war.
Data.²
Prince Aemond Targaryen, also known as Aemond the One-Eyed and later as Aemond the Kingslayer, was a member of House Targaryen. He was the second son of King Viserys I Targaryen by his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower, and the younger brother of King Aegon II Targaryen. Like his brothers, Aemond was a dragonrider, and rode the dragon Vhagar. In the television adaptation House of the Dragon, Aemond is portrayed by Ewan Mitchell and Leo Ashton (young).
Appearance and Character.
At birth, Aemond was said to be half the size of his older brother Aegon, though he was twice as fierce. At the age of ten, Aemond lost his right eye during a fight with his nephew Lucerys Velaryon. Aemond subsequently began having a sapphire eye placed in place of his missing eye. Aemond was also known to wear an eyepatch over his sapphire eye at times (such as when he was in the Round Hall of Storm's End with Borros Baratheon's wife and daughters). As a child, Aemond was bold, wild, willful, hot-tempered, and relentless, and he grew up to be a capable and dangerous swordsman. As a young man, Aemond wore midnight-black armor, trimmed with gold.
Early life. ¹
Aemond was born in 110 AC, the son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. He had two older sisters, Rhaenyra, Viserys' daughter by his first wife, and Helaena, and an older brother, Aegon. Aemond would later also have a younger brother, Daeron. The births of Aemond and his older brother Aegon were the cause of some conflict at the court of Viserys I. The king had named Rhaenyra, his only surviving daughter from his first marriage, his official heir in 105 AC, but refused to change the order of succession after the birth of two healthy sons. This eventually led to the rise of the "queen's party" at the royal court, as opposed to the "princess's party". Furthermore, Prince Daemon Targaryen, King Viserys's younger brother and Aemond's uncle, was said to be noticeably cold towards Aemond and Aegon, as their births had pushed him even further back in the line of succession as well. The feud between Aemond's mother Alicent and his older half-sister Rhaenyra was passed down to their children. Aemond and his brothers became bitter rivals of Rhaenyra's three sons, Princes Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey Velaryon, whom they resented for stealing their birthright, the Iron Throne. The time the six boys were forced to spend together (e.g., attending feasts, sometimes training in arms together, or studying under the same maester) only increased this dislike. [2] In 120 AC, when Aemond was ten, his brother-in-law, Ser Laenor Velaryon, died. Aemond accompanied his parents and siblings to Driftmark to attend Laenor's funeral. King Viserys had suggested traveling to Dragonstone after the funeral, and informed Aemond, who of all his siblings was the only one not yet to have a dragon of his own, that he could claim a dragon egg or hatchling on Dragonstone for himself, if he was "brave enough."
Early years of life. ²
Upset by his father's comment, Aemond decided to claim Vhagar, the eldest of the dragons, who had recently been left riderless with the death of Laena Velaryon. Vhagar was present in Driftmark, and Aemond, who knew his parents would not allow him near the dragon, went to make his attempt in secret. Aemond was caught by his three-year-old nephew, Prince Joffrey. In an attempt to keep him quiet, Aemond slapped and threatened the younger boy, before pushing him into a pile of dragon dung. When Joffrey began to scream, Aemond climbed atop Vhagar's back. The dragon broke free of its chains, and Aemond flew two circles before landing. [2] Joffrey, however, had alarmed his two older brothers, Jacaerys and Lucerys Velaryon. The four boys fought with wooden training swords, until Aemond called his nephews "Strongs". Jacaerys, old enough to understand the insult, attacked Aemond again. When Aemond gained the upper hand and began beating Jacaerys savagely, Lucerys drew her dagger and slashed Aemond's face, gouging out his right eye. Following the incident, Queen Alicent requested that Lucerys lose one eye as penance, to which King Viserys refused, while Princess Rhaenyra demanded that Aemond be interrogated, "harshly", until he revealed where he heard his sons being described as "Strongs", as naming them such suggested that they were bastards, and therefore that Rhaenyra was guilty of high treason by sleeping with Ser Harwin Strong. Coerced by his father, Aemond eventually admitted to hearing the name of his brother, Prince Aegon. [1] [2] Although he was a ruthless person, Aemond would later say that he considered losing an eye a fair trade in exchange for gaining Vhagar. Despite the loss of his eye, Aemond became a dangerous swordsman under the guidance of Ser Criston Cole, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
Early years of life. ³
On the first day of the year 127 AC, King Viserys held a banquet to celebrate the return of his health. After the king left the banquet, Aemond toasted his three Velaryon nephews, speaking of their appearance and mocking them by calling them "three strong lads".
Dance of the Dragons. ¹
In 129 AC, when Aemond was nineteen, his father King Viserys I Targaryen died. Aemond's older brother was crowned King Aegon II Targaryen, despite their older sister Rhaenyra having been Viserys's chosen heir, kicking off the war of succession known as the Dance of Dragons. Aegon's supporters realized that Rhaenyra would likely resist Aegon's coronation. As the previous lord of Storm's End, Boremund Baratheon, had been a supporter of Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Rhaenyra's mother-in-law and one of her supporters, the greens feared that Lord Borros Baratheon, the new lord, might also side with Rhaenyra. Aemond was sent to Storm's End to convince Lord Borros to support Aegon by promising to marry one of his daughters. While Aemond was at Storm's End, Lord Borros was visited by Prince Lucerys Velaryon, who had come to speak on behalf of Rhaenyra. Aemond attempted to provoke Lucerys, who ignored her uncle. When Aemond threatened Lucerys, claiming that he owed him an eye, Borros refused to allow them to fight under his roof. Borros's men restrained Aemond, allowing Lucerys to leave the hall and take off on her dragon, Arrax. When Borros's daughter Lady Maris taunted Aemond, asking if Lucerys had removed his balls as well as his eye, Aemond became enraged. When he asked Borros for permission, Borros told Aemond that he had no say in what Aemond did when not under Borros' roof, and allowed him to leave the Round Hall. Aemond mounted Vhagar and pursued his nephew, avenging the loss of his eye by killing Lucerys and Arrax. Mushroom claims that Aemond located the boy's corpse and removed both of his eyes to present to Lady Maris on a bed of kelp. From then on, Aemond was known as a kinslayer among his enemies.
Dance of the Dragons. ²
Though his mother and grandfather despaired when they learned of his actions, his elder brother King Aegon II was overjoyed, throwing a great feast in Aemond's honor. Prince Daemon Targaryen swore to avenge Lucerys, promising his wife Rhaenyra "a son for a son". Contacting Mysaria, Daemon arranged for Blood and Cheese to kill Aegon II's son Jaehaerys, which slowly drove the boy's mother Helaena insane, who eliminated her as a dragonrider. Aemond joined his brother and Ser Criston Cole at the Battle of Rook's Rest, where the two brothers killed Princess Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon, Meleys. While Aemond and Vhagar were unharmed, Aegon was severely wounded. Aemond ruled in his stead as Prince Regent and Protector of the Realm for a year while Aegon recovered. He took the iron and ruby crown from Aegon the Conqueror, and is said to have claimed that it looked better on him than on Aegon. As Prince Regent, Aemond gathered an army together with Ser Criston Cole, the Hand of the King. They marched against Prince Daemon at Harrenhal, but during their march King's Landing fell to Rhaenyra and Daemon. After recapturing Harrenhal, Aemond ordered the deaths of Ser Simon Strong and his family. However, Alys Rivers was saved and became Aemond's bedmate. Alys stopped Aemond from strangling the squire who reported to Harrenhal of the greens' defeat at the Battle of the Lakeshore. Aemond and Criston Cole parted ways, with Aemond taking Vhagar to burn numerous Black-aligned settlements in the Riverlands. Lady Sabitha Frey captured Harrenhal and Alys, but Aemond eventually returned to rescue his lover.
