Appearance

400 years ago, Hajime was an elderly man with cyan eyes with small zigzag lines underneath. He had bushy eyebrows and long cyan hair tied in a disheveled style. Most of it was kept tied behind his head with a single band and reached just past his neck. He also had some of the hair on top combed back and tied into two buns on the right and left sides of his head. He wore a traditional dark-colored haori. Incarnated in a new body, Hajime has a much younger appearance as a player of the Killing Game. He retains the lightning-like lines connected to the bottom of his eyelids and his disheveled hairstyle is mostly the same, but with bangs in the front. Hajime wears simple, white clothing, including a large robe with a wrinkled collar around the neck area. The sleeves of his robe are slightly rolled up to reveal Hajime's forearms wrapped in bandages. Hajime also wears matching pants and shoes of the same color.

Personality

Hajime is the perfect example of a jujutsu sorcerer from the past who lives to fight strong opponents. Towards the end of his life, after presumably spending most of it fighting sorcerers, Hajime eventually became bored and dissatisfied with the battles he fought. He values life very differently than people in the present day and only agreed to Kenjaku's terms in order to fight Sukuna, the most powerful potential opponent. [5] The incarnated sorcerer quickly grew bored of the Killing Game even after slaughtering over forty players. His focus became solely on the search for Sukuna[1], which eventually led him to cross paths with Panda and Kinji Hakari. He found Panda to be below average, but Hakari provided Hajime with a true challenge, which he found very interesting due to the unique nature of his abilities.[6] Rather than taking the easy route of surviving Hakari's jackpot, Hajime wished to kill him while invincible in order to gain the most satisfying victory possible. To Hajime, anything less is how a loser thinks.[7]

Even when a fight is not going his way or his life is in mortal danger, Hajime enjoys the challenge. When Hakari attempted to throw Hajime into the sea, he kept a smile on his face and admitted that it was a good idea despite knowing he would be at a great disadvantage. [8] Hajime respected Hakari because he provided him with an exhilarating battle, even admitting that the fight was fun, a compliment he had not given to any opponent in the Killing Game. [9] After their deathmatch, Hajime told Hakari to kill him since he was the loser. Despite this, they were able to maintain a cordial conversation and Hajime even agreed to join forces with Hakari in exchange for being able to challenge Sukuna. However, Hajime was quite upset and confused when he learned that Hakari was "Sukuna's senpai". [10] Hajime not only enjoyed the challenge of facing Sukuna, but also wanted to learn from his philosophy. He asked Sukuna if he was born stronger or if he earned that title later. Hajime could never connect with others or show kindness without knowing anything about weakness. He found everyone else to be as fragile as the earth beneath his feet. His main question to the King of Curses was if true strength was loneliness or if it was a cross that the strongest had to bear during the endless pursuit of greater power. [11] In the end, Sukuna taught Hajime that connecting with others by showing one's strength is love and that he was greedy for lamenting loneliness. In death, Hajime smiled and accepted Sukuna's reasoning. [12]

Skills and Powers

Overall Skill Level: Hajime Kashimo is one of the strongest sorcerers Kenjaku encountered 400 years ago. Although Kenjaku considered him inferior to Sukuna, he respected Hajime's strength and invited him to make a binding oath to participate in the Killing Game. Even as an old man, Hajime could decimate entire battlefields and leave numerous dismembered corpses in his wake. [13] Hajime, who had regained his youth and had been given a second chance in the prime of his life, quickly mastered the killing game and became the first player to add a new rule. Hajime effortlessly eliminated at least forty other players in just twelve days and gained notoriety throughout the Tokyo colonies. Hajime considered all those he had eliminated to be too weak, even weaker than those from 400 years ago. [14] When Hajime encountered Panda, they quickly considered that the harmless animal might actually be another player. He attacked Panda and completely outclassed him in a fight. Panda considered Hajime to be overwhelmingly fast and devastatingly strong. Hajime's speed, strength, and durability quickly surpassed even Panda's Gorilla Mode. Able to overcome Cursed Corpse attacks, including withstanding the Unblockable Drum Beat with ease, Hajime also considered Panda to be a weakling. Even when faced with Panda's trump card, Hajime easily overcame his opponent's Triceratops Mode using his electrified cursed energy that struck like lightning. [15]

Facing off against Hakari, Hajime faced off against the elite student of Jujutsu High while brimming with endless cursed energy. Even at a disadvantage against Hakari's fully automatic Reverse Cursed Technique, Hajime was able to overpower him and nearly kill him on several occasions without using his innate technique. [16] [17] [18] With the Mythical Beast Amber activated, Hajime pressured Sukuna, the strongest sorcerer in history (albeit severely injured), and forced him to heal himself by completing his incarnation. [19] However, against Sukuna's true form, Hajime was greatly outclassed and quickly overpowered even with his innate technique active. [20] Master of Hand-to-Hand Combat: Hajime is an exceptional fighter in every aspect and this is exemplified by his mastery of martial arts. Rather than relying on his cursed technique, Hajime prefers close combat and overwhelms his opponent with flurries of blows supplemented by electrified cursed energy. Even while armed with his staff, Hajime openly engaged in unarmed attacks and pummeled Panda with a barrage of punches. [21] Facing an opponent with physical capabilities enhanced by infinite cursed energy, Kashimo was still able to hold his own and fight on equal terms with Hakari. For example, Hajime hit Hakari with a three-punch combination that included a high kick, a right jab, and a knee to the face. He then countered Hakari's flying knee with a spinning elbow. A testament to Hajime's skill in close combat is his ability to parry attacks in grappling situations to deliver elbows and knees. [22]

In Hakari's base state, Hajime was able to easily outmaneuver and overpower him, displaying his overall mastery of martial arts. His opponent was unable to defend against Hajime's punches and Hajime was easily able to read Hakari's attacks and parry them. He avoided Hakari's punch, slipped up behind him, and elbowed him in the neck, knocking him unconscious. After Hakari undid the damage, Hajime dodged another punch, moved his opponent's arm from a defensive stance, and landed a slash followed by an elbow that knocked Hakari unconscious again. [23] High Tactical Intellect: Hajime's intelligent decision-making and use of his strengths showcase his wealth of experience and high battle IQ. He quickly assesses his opponent's capabilities and uses his own to create a clear path to victory. Hajime took a single hit from Panda's unblockable drum beat and could tell that it inflicted internal damage. He dealt with Panda's unblockable attack using superior speed and fighting technique to effortlessly outmatch and overpower Gorilla Mode. Hajime cut off Panda's arm and used it as a feint to make his opponent turn around and be exposed. [24] Facing Hakari's unique power set, Hajime understood the potential of his opponent's power without knowing the full details of his cursed technique. After their first exchange of hand-to-hand combat, Hajime realized that Hakari's massive cursed energy output could withstand his electrified cursed energy. [25] After learning how Hakari's domain and invincible mode work, Hajime knew that he could win the fight by simply surviving Hakari's bonus round and killing him in his base state. Hajime's lust for a challenge led him to do the opposite, but he formed an ultimate plan to defeat Hakari. [7]

Hajime attempted to kill Hakari in his invincible mode using a number of clever tactics. He used his advanced knowledge of jujutsu to try and overcome Hakari's Reverse Automatic Cursed Technique. Hajime is aware that positive energy flows from a sorcerer's brain and tried to destroy Hakari's head with several strikes that could have been fatal, including a lightning strike to the face. [26] Hakari assumed that Hajime's lightning needed time to recharge before it could fire again, but in reality, the latter had built up another electricity in his polearm beforehand. Using a different method to kill Hakari, Hajime received the electric charge as feedback through Hakari's torso, dealing a fatal blow just as his bonus round time was up. [27] When Hakari's luck got the better of this, Hajime tried to poison him instead of destroying his head. He used his electrified cursed energy to perform electrolysis on seawater to create chlorine gas. [28] Hajime's final attempt against Hakari was to use his remaining cursed energy to create a steam explosion while they were fighting underwater. He grabbed Hakari's arm at the same time so that in case he survived the explosion, he would lose his arm and be unable to open his domain again. [29]

Cursed Energy: Cursed Energy Trait: Hajime's cursed energy has the properties of an electric current, putting his body in a constant state of electrification. This makes Hajime's cursed energy-enhanced physical attacks impossible to defend against, as his blows electrocute the opponent upon impact. [30] It also provides Hajime with a natural resistance to electricity, shown when he nullifies a direct attack from Kamutoke. [31] However, Hajime also has a natural weakness to water. If completely submerged, releasing his cursed energy will cause it to be absorbed by the water until it is completely depleted. Cursed Energy Manipulation: Hajime has such a high degree of skill in manipulating his cursed energy that he was the strongest sorcerer of his era and became one of the strongest players in the Killing Game without needing to activate his innate technique. [32] Due to Hajime's advanced manipulation skills, he can somewhat suppress the leakage of his electrified cursed energy even while underwater. [33] Lightning Discharge - Manipulating the characteristics of his cursed energy allows Hajime to freely separate his electrical charges. By applying the positive charge to his target immediately, Hajime can discharge the negative charge without wasting any electricity on the ground. This results in a powerful lightning bolt that tears through the air and is guaranteed to hit without the need to expand the domain. [34] After discharging this attack, Kashimo needs time to recharge before he can fire it again. [35]

Cursed Techniques

Innate Technique: "Mythical Beast Amber": Hajime's innate technique reconstructs flesh to manifest phenomena of electricity, which he converts from cursed energy. [36] Kashimo's body far surpasses the realm of humans when using his technique, so it can only be used once before his flesh collapses. [37] Anti-Dominance Techniques: "Hollow Wicker Basket": The anti-domain technique predecessor of Simple Domain. Hajime intended to use it to counter Kinji Hakari's Idle Death Gamble, but the domain's activation was too fast and its sure-hit effect was harmless. [38]

Equipment

Cursed Tools: Nyoi Staff - Hajime wields a staff in battle that can function as a lightning rod to build up its charges. It is capable of conducting the electrical properties of Hajime's cursed energy, making it a suitable weapon for the magus to use in close combat. Hajime typically uses polearm attacks in combination with normal taijutsu. While his attacks are normally performed with finesse, Hajime has also used the staff to crudely break an arm. [39][40]
