Persona Attributes

Kenma is depicted as being of average height, with a small build, and has an unstable stance. He has many outstanding features, including his golden cat-like eyes and his blonde hair with black roots (sometimes referred to as "Pudding Head"). He dresses casually, and his Nekoma uniform is the standard black and red jersey. He is usually seen carrying around a handheld game console and a cell phone. He has naturally dark hair which he had dyed in his first year of high school, claiming that he did not want to "stand out" after Yamamoto pointed out that he resembled Sadako in the Haikyuu Extra Pudding Head story. Kenma also stated that he keeps his hair at its current length as he does not like his field of vision being too wide. Sometime after the events of the Spring Tournament, Kenma allowed his hair to grow a bit longer and appears to be letting it return to its natural dark color; though there is still some blonde left. He is 1.69m tall

Kenma usually has a calm, collected, and analytical personality. He rarely loses his temper and usually doesn't get too excited or enthusiastic about most things; with a few exceptions being video games, Hinata, Lev - in The Arrival of Haiba Lev

Due to his reserved nature, Kenma does not often voice his opinions as he is afraid of what others might think of him and does not like to stand out or be noticed in any way. His shy tendencies also prevent him from being very approachable and because of this, he has a hard time making friends; Kuroo is said to have been the only friend he has made since elementary school. He also dislikes the authority that comes with being an upperclassman and does not expect his third-year students to automatically respect him; he often reminds Lev that he does not need to be so formal with him. Kenma rarely tends to show much emotion, which usually makes him seem like he's giving off a cold impression to others. However, he is shown to do care about his friends and notices small annoyances in their behavior. One example is when they were younger, Kuroo's team had badly lost a volleyball match and he was feeling depressed. Kenma noticed this feeling and despite not caring about volleyball, he asked Kuroo if he would like to practice and "level up", which he eagerly agreed to. Another can be seen later in the manga when he admits that he tries hard to win for his friends.

Despite his modest personality, Kenma is quite skilled at volleyball with his extraordinary game sense, technique, and strong strategic skills, which make up for his lack of power, speed, and stamina. Although he seems somewhat apathetic about it, Kenma is the type of person who only does things he enjoys, and thus would quit volleyball if he didn't enjoy it at all; which he claimed was the aspect of improving his skills in the same sense as a video game. However, despite having a hard time admitting his feelings, the true motivation behind his continuation in volleyball is his friends. Kenma is also shown to be quite competitive.

-Current concern: summer is too hot, winter is too cold. -Kenma is shy with others except Hinata, Inuoka and Kuroo. -Favorite food: Apple pie. -He is an only child. -He doesn't like animals; This is what Kenma himself says in the Ova "The Arrival of Lev Haiba" -He has the smallest appetite in the series; although he claims that he eats normally and everyone else just overeats. -He dyed his hair blonde so as not to "stand out" because Yamamoto had previously said that his hair looked like Sadako's, which would draw people's attention. -Kenma keeps his hair long because he gets anxious when his field of vision is too wide. -His zodiac sign is Libra.

When Kenma was younger, he was shy and couldn't make friends on his own. His only friend back then was Kuroo, who was around his age and lived next door. Although he two seemingly had little in common besides their age, they spent a lot of time together, which at first mostly consisted of playing video games. Then one day, Kenma asked Kuroo if he had something in mind that he wanted to play. Kuroo was shy, but excited, as he introduced Kenma to volleyball. Although Kenma wasn't into sports back then, he found volleyball to be something fun and especially enjoyed watching games on discs that Kuroo had. Eventually, Kuroo convinced him to tag along to a practice session and even convinced him to be a setter by telling him about the setter position which seemed to fit a tactician like Kenma well and also didn't require much movement, though Kenma would later learn that this wasn't entirely true. Kenma later joined the high school volleyball club where he was given the number 4 on the team. When he joined the boys' volleyball team in high school, Kenma thought about quitting at first due to the awkward relationship he had with the third years at the time. They would often specifically leave him out and make him run longer than the other members. However, Kuroo convinced him otherwise by reminding Kenma how amazing he is and that Coach Nekomata would be returning to the team soon. Around her time as a first-year student, she also encountered Yamamoto and quickly became annoyed by his overly enth

Yamamoto himself was annoyed with Kenma for being good despite his lack of passion or enthusiasm. At one point, Kenma noticed that Yamamoto was feeling down about his performance during a practice match where he hit a lot of serves wide, and due to Kuroo's advice about making more of an effort to get along with others, he gave Yamamoto some advice that soon escalated into a clash of ideologies; resulting in Kenma yelling for the first time in a long time and ending with Fukunaga splashing water on both of them to stop the fight from escalating.

Yamamoto later realized that while Kenma is a "lazy slacker", he hates losing, and during a match against another school, he was grateful that his analytical prowess was on Nekoma's side. Yamamoto then told Kenma to call him "Tora" as a sign of friendship, to which Kenma responded with "Do I have to?", but occasionally calls him by this name.

Kuroo

Kuro's physical features give him a cunning appearance, thanks to his narrowed, feline-like eyes like most of his team's, due to the elongated pupil he possesses. He is quite tall and has a robust build. His hair is black and is styled with bangs on his right side with many people describing his style as having just gotten out of bed. He is usually seen wearing a black t-shirt and burgundy sweatpants, the classic attire of his team outside of matches; sometimes with a red jacket over it. In matches he wears the number 1 jersey, classic among team captains. He has a laid-back yet still intriguing personality, and is considered a "provocation expert". This talent is demonstrated in the way he angers Tsukishima during the "Saitama Training Camp" arc. However, he later apologized to Daichi for the provocation, clarifying that he did it in order to help him improve. He is usually seen smiling when things go his way. He is quite kind and willing to help others improve. During matches he is usually a cautious person, faithful to the Nekoma style, studying his rival and holding on to then devour him. He usually puts into practice the strategies that Kenma designs, demonstrating his blind faith in him.

Kuroo

His hair is up because according to Kenma, Kuroo really gets out of bed like that. Kenma also said that this happens because Kuroo sleeps on his stomach while squeezing two pillows on his two ears-and hair. When Kuroo was younger, he would take techniques he saw on TV while watching Volleyball matches and teach them to Kenma. His favorite food is grilled salted mackerel. Current concern: Can't get rid of the style of her hair. In the first Haikyuu!! popularity poll, Kuroo came in 6th place with 4,035 votes. Her zodiac sign is Scorpio. He is 1.85m tall

Nekoma High School

Due to the players' flexibility and solid reception, the boys who make up the club's volleyball team are nicknamed "the cats" (猫, Neko), a nickname that also alludes to the name of the school. Nekoma is said to share a "destined rivalry" with Karasuno due to the long-standing competition between their respective coaches, Ukai and Nekomata. Furthermore, the representatives of both teams are of animal origin (Nekoma being cats and Karasuno being crows). Interestingly, these animals usually have encounters at the city's garbage dumps, thus the matches between these teams are called the "Garbage Dump Battle" (ポート収集合戦, Pōto Shūshū Gassen). So far, Karasuno has never beaten Nekoma in any of the practice matches they have had. However, the teams had not played against each other in a while until Nekomata's recent return from retirement was recently noted. Recently in the manga it has been shown that he also shares a rivalry with Nohebi Academy, this is shown as they constantly provoke each other and when Kuroo and Suguru swear to each other to see each other in the finals. Before matches, Nekoma players always recite a chant to set the mood: "We are like the blood in our veins. We must flow without stopping. We must keep the oxygen moving. Thus... Our minds can function at their peak and efficiently. Nekoma Metropolitan High School 「都立音駒高校, Toritsu Nekoma Kōkō?」, or Nekoma High School for short, is a school located in Tokyo. Daily uniform
