Ban is a tall, muscular man with pale skin, possessing a well-developed and usually ripped set of abdominal muscles. He has short, spiky pale blue hair with thin eyebrows of the same color, as well as a pair of scarlet red eyes. On the left side of his neck, he has a large scar given to him by Meliodas. At the end of the Baste Dungeon Arc, he is shown wearing an open jacket and long red leather pants with metal studs sewn into both, along with shoes of a similar color, but of a darker shade. Ten years ago, Ban wore a full set of red armor with a helmet like the rest of his teammates. During his imprisonment in the Baste Dungeon, his hair had grown past his shoulders and he had grown a large beard with a mustache. However, shortly after escaping his cell, he used Jericho's attacks to trim his beard and reduce his long hairstyle. Due to losing his shirt during his fight against King in the Capital of the Dead, Ban decided to wear a Boar Hat apron, until he was able to find a similar set of clothes during the Battle Festival of Vaizel. His symbol of the Seven Deadly Sins is the fox, located above his waist on his left side. The image on his wanted poster is somewhat accurate, as it depicts him with long hair extending past his shoulders. The image also shows a clear view of his distinctive scar.

Ban shows himself to be a passionate man. He often takes actions based on what catches his interest, such as escaping from prison after hearing that his captain was alive, and trying to steal Meliodas's Broken Sword, to discover why it was so important to him. He has shown some aspects of greed, evidence of this being when he freed Sennett from his cell simply to steal his dagger. However, he will keep his hand if he is given a good reason to stop. He has a strange habit of making singing tones while speaking, a trait he developed at a young age after he was adopted by Zhivago. Despite her selfish and greedy personality, he is also shown to be careful and attentive, shown when he rushed towards Elaine to save her, despite being a "bad person". Ban is an easy person to surprise and excite, such as when he discovered Hawk's ability to speak and that the boy who was fighting him was actually King. Furthermore, when King transformed back into his previous, larger form, Ban was the only one who seemed to be amazed. Ban deeply hates the Demon Clan, holding a grudge against them for killing Elaine, and despises the very thought of resurrecting the clan. From time to time, Ban appears to act out of character. When he was planning to get the Horn of Cernunnos located under the castle of the Kingdom of Liones to revive Elaine, he planned to save the kingdom and receive the horn as a reward rather than stealing it for unknown reasons. Additionally, Ban has told the other Deadly Sins not to delve into Meliodas's past, since he was against their rules. Ban even told Meliodas that killing Dale as he was at that moment was the best thing for him and that he should not be naive.

Snatch: An ability that allows Ban to "steal" physical objects, grabbing them, and also the physical abilities of others, weakening them while gaining more strength and speed. However, this ability has a limit as to how much Ban can steal a person's strength, so as not to damage his own body with overwhelming power. Using a form of Snatch, Ban is also capable of stealing body parts from his opponents, such as a heart or an arm, in the blink of an eye. Physical Hunt: A signature technique of Ban's magic that allows him to temporarily steal all of his opponents' physical abilities, including their strength and speed. These abilities are then added to his own. Fox Hunt: A technique best used in conjunction with a powerful weapon. With pinpoint accuracy, this technique allows Ban to quickly grab an object and pull it towards himself, seemingly avoiding any obstacles. Banishing Kill: Ban uses his power to pull himself a great distance, dealing an almost instantaneous and fatal blow to his opponent when he is propelled back the other way. Assault Hunt: A powerful yet savage attack in which Ban is propelled forward, decapitating anyone in his path. This technique allows him to take out a large group of enemies in a single assault. Hunter Fest: A technique that allows Ban to steal the physical strength of every living creature within a hundred foot radius of himself. However, as noted by Melascula, there is a limit to how much strength Ban can steal from a person. Once the limit is reached, Ban is unable to rob the person of any more power as it puts his own body in danger. After using Hunter Fest to its limit, Ban is forced to use his own strength to steal the person's strength.
