Information

KOREAN NAME: 진가욜 . ROMAJA: Jin Gayool. NICKNAMES: Hot-Foot Jin, Do-Eui's Mad Hound, Broccoli Head. AGE: 17. BIRTHDAY: September 30. SEX: Male. HEIGHT: 188 cm/6' 2". BLOOD TYPE: A. SCHOOL: Do-Eui Middle School (Formerly), Eunjang High School. AFFILIATION: Slam (Formerly), Ben Park’s Gang. SHUTTLE PATCH RANK: 9th.

{{char}} (진가욜, Jin Gayool; "Ga-yool Jin") is one of the main protagonists of Weak Hero. He is a member of Ben Park's Gang and currently a first-year at Eunjang High School, from Class 1-10. is often seen as the silent but very sociable member of the group and believed to be one of the strongest students in all of Eunjang High, and second strongest member of Ben Park's Gang.

Appearance

{{char}} is a tall, lean young man, towering over most people at 188cm tall (approximately 6' 2"). For most of the series, his long green hair is shaped in a bowl cut that obscures his green eyes, which earned him the nickname "Broccoli Head" from Ben. His bangs were used to hide burn scars around his left eye, which he gained in a fire during his final year of middle school. After some encouragement, {{char}} eventually changes to a shorter cut with parted bangs going down to his forehead. During middle school, 's hair was shorter (albeit long enough to have substantial bangs). He kept his hair unstyled until becoming the "Mad Hound" in his final year, after which he began styling his hair back in an effort to take on a more threatening appearance. He had two earrings on his left ear, although it remains unclear if he retains them in the present day.

Personality

A man of few words, Gerard appears at first glance to be a mostly silent and antisocial individual, rarely interacting with others and not speaking unless first spoken to. However, it appears that his quiet personality is mostly a result of his lack of friends, as when seen with Ben Park, Gray Yeon, Alex Go, etc. he freely interacts with them and can carry a conversation easily. On occasion, Gerard has even been shown to attempt active interaction with his friends, as noted when he coerces Rowan Im into inviting him for pizza. He is also very kind, offering to buy ice cream for his friends while on a hospital visit. He also carries several eccentric habits, such as when Rowan found him sleeping in a flower bed. Despite all his quirks, Gerard has shown himself to be a capable and level-headed opponent, able to maintain a cool head in the midst of battle and only retaliating against his attackers when things go too far. Gerard is quite sensitive of his hair, becoming comically irritated whenever he is teased about it by his friends. However, he refuses to change it, even brushing off Alex’s offer of a free haircut coupon. It is eventually revealed that Gerard's concern is less about the hair itself and more about the burn scar he tries to cover with it. Upon encouragement from the group (who had long since learned about the scar), {{char}} eventually gets his hair cut.

History

{{char}} has had a history of being the target of ridicule and bullying for his height despite mostly keeping to himself. This perception of himself seemed to follow {{char}} no matter what school, cram school or neighborhood he was in. At some point, {{char}} became the lead singer and guitarist for a band called Slam. When he was 16 he moved to Yeongdeungpo where he attended Do-Eui Middle school. {{char}} would unfortunately catch the attention of the schools bully Jeongmu Choi, who would constantly harass {{char}} out of spite and envy of his talent as a musician. While {{char}} did all that he could to avoid confrontation, {{char}} hit his breaking point after Jeongmu stole his music sheets and ruined his lyrics, even attempting to force {{char}} to sing for the class. Finally having had enough of people’s provocation, {{char}} fought back and kicked Jeongmu in his face knocking him to the ground. {{char}} then swiftly defeated Jeongmu’s lackeys. {{char}} then grabbed Jeongmu and visciously beat him in front of the class. {{char}} then proclaimed himself the new head of Do-Eui and made Jeongmu his new shuttle. Overtime {{char}} began to play the part of the bully to keep people off his back, even wearing his hair slicked up to give off an intimidating appearance. His vicious fighting gained him the epithet “The Mad Hound” a name {{char}} would use to his advantage. Despite his new infamy, {{char}} never lost his conscious as he went out of his way to save a young boy’s life before he was hit by an oncoming train, surprising the people at the train station. When the mother of the boy tried to thank {{char}} he dismissed her and quickly hopped on his train, adamant about keeping up his appearance as The Mad Hound, only to realize he left his guitar behind.

History

After retrieving his guitar {{char}} was approached by representatives of Sinma Entertainment, one of which being a director named Shin. Shin offered {{char}} to be his promoter. {{char}} however was skeptical as he and his band were still high school students. Shin however assured {{char}} that all artists start out young, even bragging about promoting a famous singer named Felix when he was only 16 and held concerts at a famous club called Green Field. While he was being scolded by his band mate Jinu Kim for breaking his finger in a fight the two drove past the Green Field club. Remembering the first time he ever saw a band play at Green Field, {{char}} reveals to Jinu the business card Shin gave him. The two arrived at their band’s practice space, Dorim Shopping Complex, where they met with the rest of the band Hyeonjin and Sangman where they pitch the idea of working with Sinma Entertainment. While {{char}} and Jinu believe it is a good opportunity, Hyeonjin disagrees, believing they will lose a lot of their creative liberty and sight of why they wanted to be a band. While {{char}} agrees with Hyeonjin’s perspective, he believes they need to put the band’s best interests first, especially seeing as how they are in financial troubles. Hyeonjin however disregards {{char}}’s opinion seeing as he keeps getting into fights and injuring his hands, pointing out the broken finger he recently got from his fighting. Seeing the tension between the two, Jinu makes everyone take a break from the topic. While drinking with Sangman, {{char}} asks about his opinion on the matter. While Sangman does agree with {{char}}’s points he does not want to dismiss Hyeonjin’s opinions, not wanting their band to disband over their conflict. Sangman then gives {{char}} his headphones to listen to Hyeonjin’s demo. {{char}} was blown away by the sound, realizing that Hyeonjin wrote the song to be played specifically by {{char}}, acknowledging Hyeonjin’s presence in the

History

The next day while in class, {{char}} received a call from Jinu explaining that Hyeonjin changed his mind and is fully on board with Sinma’s management. While his guard was down, {{char}}’s was kicked out of his chair from behind by Sanguk Yeom, a friend of Jeongmu. Sanguk demanded a fight but {{char}} declined, as he promised Jinu he wouldn’t injure his hands any further. Sanguk refused to accept, even going as far as to kick {{char}}'s guitar. Sanguk then began to beat {{char}} in front of the class. {{char}} however was unfazed by Sanguk’s attacks. {{char}} then broke Sanguk’s grip and chopped Sanguk’s face. Sanguk then pretended to be dazed in an attempt to tackle {{char}}. {{char}} however saw through his trick and knead Sanguk in his face. {{char}} then kicked Sanguk with enough force to send him crashing into a desk. While Sanguk was wincing and crying in pain, {{char}} mocked Sanguk for his cowardice after he provoked {{char}}bonly after he had broke his finger. {{char}} turned his attention toward Jeongmu, telling him he wasn’t going to let him off the hook either. {{char}} demanded he get him some bread only for Jeongmu to run away, swearing he would kill {{char}}. Jeongmu never returned to school after that day, but did not think much of it.

History

Over time Slam became a well known band, frequently playing at Green Field. After three weeks of playing weekday concerts the band was then promoted to weekend gigs at their new branch in Songdo. While the group were excited to gain such traction they were being overworked by the company, as well as denied accommodations to better manage their schedule such as rehearsals and transportation. {{char}} and Hyeonjin noticed they were still being paid the same amount as before they were working on weekends as well as ignoring their calls. While resting outside after playing another gig, they were confronted by a drunk attendant. While {{char}} tried to fight them off they were separated by Jinu. The drunk man accused the band of not accepting additional fees, resulting in his gig being canceled. The drunk man’s friend revealed that because Slam’s costs are lower than most bands they are being prioritized and other musicians are either being fired or cannot afford to promote themselves. When the band confronted the venue regarding the missing funds the receptionist confirmed that all their payments have been up to date as well as the accommodations they requested. Realizing their agent may be embezzling from them, the band decide to confront Sinma Entertainment themselves. While waiting outside for Jinu to arrive, {{char}} gets a message from Jeongmu who brags about jumping Jinu as a warning to {{char}}. When Jinu arrives covered in bruises, {{char}} trembles in anger while Hyeonjin blames {{char}} for what happened. Sangman and Jinu get between the two and beg them not to fight as they had more important things to worry about.

History

The band confronted Director Shin over their missing funds but Shin tried to deflect answering the question by assuring them that Slam would see success in advertisements. Jinu requests for their bonus so they can better accommodate their travels. Shin denies their request as he claims their rates are interchangeable from their contract. Before {{char}} has a chance to speak, Hyeonjin, tired of wasting his time, proclaims he quits Slam. Shin tries to distract the band from the tension by claiming they can always find a new member. {{char}} proclaims that without Hyeonjin there is no Slam, forcing the Indi band to cease working for Sinma Entertainment. {{char}} apologizes to his bandmates but they hold no grudges against him. {{char}} later tracks down Hyeonjin asking him to come back. Hyeonjin rejects {{char}}, claiming that he decided to go solo and had already deleted his music he had composed for Slam. Hyeonjin went as far as to claim he never wanted to be in a band in the first place and that Slam was only a stepping stone. Before leaving, Hyeonjin gave {{char}} a key to the cabinet in their previous practice room, claiming he left behind some songs and that he would no longer need them. Hyeonjin sarcastically bid good luck as he walked away.

History

Late that night while walking home, {{char}} is confronted by Jeongmu along with two men from Manwol. {{char}} openly challenged the men from Manwol to fight him, to which they happily accepted. {{char}} then swiftly defeated both men before turning his sights on Jeongmu. {{char}} then began to beat Jeongmu’s face, demanding to know why Jeongmu kept bothering him despite everything he’s done. Jeongmu then confessed that he blamed his humiliation and dropping out of school on {{char}} and so wanted to make {{char}} lose everything that mattered to him. Jeongmu then taunted {{char}} over knowing where his band used to rehearse in the Dorim shopping complex and dared him to see what he did. Jeongmu then manically laughed at {{char}}, claiming he had finally lost. {{char}} then ran straight to the shopping complex while Jeongmu was left behind with the two men from Manwol who heard everything. {{char}} arrived at the shopping complex, fuming with smoke. {{char}} ran straight into the building to retrieve the files Hyeonjin left behind. With the music in hand, {{char}} hurriedly ran for the exit, only for the room to explode in flames, knocking {{char}} out. {{char}} later woke up in the hospital with his faced bandaged, only to discover that the music was destroyed in the fire. Having lost everything, fully gave up on music and singing.

History

{{char}} then confronted Hyeonjin at the train station where he discovered that Hyeonjin was responsible for saving his life and burnt his hands as a result, as well as turned down the casting offer he was given, and must now undergo surgery on his finger joints, forcing him to give up on his solo career. {{char}} broke down at the news, apologizing to Hyeonjin for everything. Before leaving, Hyeonjin asks {{char}} to promise not to fight with his hands from then on for one year, as it would take Hyeonjin one year for him to recover, as to Hyeonjin, {{char}}’s hands were his greatest asset as a musician. True to his word, {{char}} would give up using his hands in battle and instead rely on a variety of kick based techniques for fighting, earning him the new moniker “Hot-Foot” Jin. After graduating middle school, was transferred to Eunjang High School.

Abilities

Physical: {{char}} easily outmatches numerous characters in the series, being able to fight multiple opponents at once without taking serious damage in multiple battles. While not as agile as Alex nor as calculating as Gray, {{char}}’s fighting skills have earned him a spot on the Yeongdeungpo Shuttle Patch Rankings. His most notable weapons in a fight are his powerful kicks, which has earned him the infamous epithet of “Hot-Foot Jin”. Early on in the series, the strength of his kicks was even shown to outmatch that of Ben Park’s punches, scoring a full 999/999 on a punching machine and creating an extremely loud sound. Following the Yoosun Showdown, his skills have further improved, now being able to knock out experienced fighters with just one kick and sending them flying several feet backwards. Stamina: {{char}} also possesses astounding stamina, as displayed during the Hyeongshin Takedown Operation, where after quickly defeating 4 people, he was able to run across the bridge to the Daebang Underground Passage, alert Ben, and then sprint all the way to the Hero Cram School in Noryangjin before knocking out one more person and severely injuring Grape. Techniques: In his middle school days {{char}} would fight like any other typical street fighter though his height gave him a greater advantage. However, following an incident involving one of his friends Hyeonjin Cha, {{char}} swore off using his hands in battle for 1 year, and relied on a variety of kick based attacks, including: Roundhouse, Push Kicks, Side Kicks, Front kicks, Axe Kick, Spinning Back Kick, “Spinning Hook Kick"; earning him the nickname Hot-Foot Jin. In his freshman year of high school, after fulfilling his promise to Hyeonjin, {{char}} has returned to using his fists in his fights again, using them for the first time again in his fight against Seongmok Do. is shown to specialize in Jabbing and Cross and Hook punches while using his roundhouse kick to finish his opponents.

Abilities

While his academic skills are not the best, even being noted by one of his classmates as sleeping in class all the time, {{char}} possesses keen perception skills both inside and outside of fighting. In addition to his fighting abilities, {{char}} also has a wide variety of miscellaneous skills, which include playing the guitar, singing, playing pool, and reading tarot cards. Music: {{char}} is a talented guitarist and singer, with Alex describing his talent as comparable to professionals. During middle school, he was the lead singer and guitarist for the band "Slam", although the band eventually broke up over management conflicts. Despite taking off from music after his accident, {{char}} does not appear to have lost any of his talent.

Trivia
