Boyfriend

Description.

Boyfriend is the protagonist and main character of the game Friday Night Funkin'. He is a young singer and rapper whose main goal is to get approval to date Girlfriend, but he must sing against his evil ex-rock star father, Daddy Dearest and against his pop star wife Mommy Mearest and many other characters who stand in his way. Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game, whose only mechanic is to press four arrows to make the character sing.

Appearance.

Boyfriend is a young, fair-skinned boy with spiky cyan hair and a confident expression. Her eyes are completely black and her face shape is similar to Girlfriend's. She has somewhat pointed ears that are the same shade as her skin. She has long eyebrows with completely black eyes. He wears a magenta-white t-shirt with a red prohibition sign in the middle. His clothing continues with dark blue baggy pants, red sneakers with a very slight pink tint with magenta-white laces and soles as well as black dots on the quarters, and a backwards red cap with a dark blue visor. He usually holds a blue-gray microphone in his right hand while keeping his left hand in his pocket. He is usually in chibi style. Although he appears to be short, he is actually around 7 feet tall. During week 5, she wears a red parka with white fur, light blue pants, and light brown snow boots to fit the Christmas theme. During week 7 in Stress, he holds Girlfriend by the waist with his left hand, which deduces that he has a lot of strength.

Personality.

Boyfriend is a very talented young rapper with a great love for music and donuts. He loves to sing and show off his skills at all times, which results in his confident and cocky character. He is very determined and persistent when he sets out to achieve his goals and will not let anyone stand in his way to success, even when threatened with death. Despite being somewhat confident and arrogant, he is quite sensitive, as he was easily taken aback by Tankman's insults. Boyfriend is quite affectionate, as he is usually always accompanied by Girlfriend at all times as his girlfriend and companion. He has very little intelligence, as he does not realize when he is in danger, one could even say that his confidence makes him believe that he will always come out unscathed. Boyfriend is also shown to be quite fearless, as during the events of Winter Horrorland, he did not show even the slightest bit of fear despite Lemon Demon's constant threats towards him and Girlfriend. Despite his high confidence, Boyfriend is extremely astraphobic, meaning he is afraid of lightning. Boyfriend gets bored of scary games very quickly, as he once nearly fell asleep while playing one. Despite his very low intelligence, Boyfriend is not completely devoid of intelligence and can still make good decisions; having street smarts, he knows how to heal people, and also has good intuition. Like his girlfriend Girlfriend, Boyfriend is neurodivergent, having been diagnosed with ADHD and autism. He often makes bleeps instead of speaking normally when talking to other people, though Boyfriend is able to speak properly on many occasions, which he usually does with a few people he's close to. He is also a boy with great talent and creativity as a musician and freestyle rapper, he can even put his own spin on other people's songs in an instant.

He is also shown to have low levels of empathy, but expresses regret towards Spirit on one occasion. Boyfriend also tends to live in a messy place, as he does not wash his dirty clothes and continually moves a pile of them around his room depending on his needs, which also suggests that he has executive dysfunction. He also shows poor memory as he does not usually remember where he left items. He is also shown to be willing to do immoral things. From tricking kids with iPads on YouTube for money and cigarettes to getting as much free food as possible from McDonald's while holding the store hostage thanks to Girlfriend's mother's limo, which also involves hoarding drive-thrus, and vandalizing PlayPlaces. He is shown to not care if the things he does are wrong as long as he can get what he wants, and is even shown to be somewhat destructive and anger-driven, as whenever his phones malfunction, his first instinct is to destroy them in bizarre and extreme ways. Boyfriend can also act in kind ways and is not lacking in morals, as he can be friendly towards others, such as Skid and Pump, though he would not hesitate to curse in front of them. Boyfriend also loves to sing and rap, so he wouldn't hesitate to challenge anyone he sees on the street.

Relations.

Daddy Dearest: Daddy Dearest is Girlfriend's father, who is very overprotective of her. He won't let her date whoever she wants and even tries to kill her boyfriend after he beats the father in a singing battle, which happens after he stops the couple from having sex. He will give long lectures. Daddy Dearest is a man in his late 40s to early 60s who has all of his skin purple, and is rusty at singing, having retired a long time ago, he wears a black uniform with a loose jacket, with a black belt with a gold clasp and a silver watch, his pupils have a red glow and his teeth are very pointy, with brown hair shaped like horns. Mommy Mearest: Mommy Mearest is Girlfriend's mother. Like Daddy Dearest, she means well for Girlfriend, but she also won't let her and her boyfriend date and is very overprotective. Mommy Mearest seems to be just as willing to try and kill Boyfriend as her husband, not caring about the consequences killing him will have for Girlfriend. Pico: Pico and Boyfriend used to date as boyfriends in high school, to which everyone used to respect their homosexual relationship. The reason for their breakup is known to be "complicated" when they were in high school, and it has been hinted that they sang together in the past, as Pico raps with Boyfriend in Week 3 due to nostalgia and old habits. This implies that Pico misses him in some way. Pico is loyal to Boyfriend in the present day, betraying his employer, Daddy Dearest, by sparing Boyfriend's life after he was hired to kill him and saving his life when he was hired to confirm Boyfriend's corpse. Boyfriend seems completely comfortable being around Pico and even sings with him happily, but it is otherwise unclear how Boyfriend feels about Pico.

Girlfriend: This is Boyfriend's girlfriend, for obvious reasons. She's a young, fair-skinned woman with a chibi style and long, thick, reddish brown hair. She's usually on top of her speakers. Skid and Pump: They are tricked into believing that Girlfriend is made of candy by the Lemon Demon, who tasks the kids with finding and bringing Girlfriend to him so he can eat her. The creepy kids challenge Boyfriend to a rap battle for her, but they just want to play around and don't really follow through with the task they've been given. Girlfriend doesn't seem concerned as Skid and Pump sing along with Boyfriend, happily watching the battle. Lemon Demon: As his name suggests, he is a lemon demon, he wants to eat Girlfriend and sings in gruesome detail about how he plans to do so. Senpai: Senpai is an honest, handsome boy from a romance video game Girlfriend played as a child. He quickly falls for Girlfriend after meeting her, believing her to be a "beautiful new maiden" who came "in search of true love." He challenges Boyfriend to a singing battle to determine who gets to be with her. When she loses, he becomes angry, but is still determined to win Girlfriend over, threatening to castrate Boyfriend after going crazy over Girlfriend. He is a very attractive red-haired boy who wears a Japanese school uniform. Spirit: He met Girlfriend when she was a little girl, as he has been trapped in her dating sim game for 14 years and recognizes her after escaping from Senpai's body. He doesn't seem to be happy to see her, likely due at least in part to her being the daughter of the person who trapped him in the game. Due to his apparent warped sense of justice, Spirit believes it is only fair to take Boyfriend and Girlfriend's bodies to escape the game.

Tankman: After Boyfriend and Girlfriend end up in the Restricted Military Zone, Tankman has his soldiers point a gun at Girlfriend. However, Tankman and his men are bored, so they don't kill her right away. Tankman is very rude to Girlfriend, insulting her for her appearance and being vulgar towards her and Boyfriend. Ritz The Rat: Ritz and Boyfriend are depicted as best friends, singing and rapping together. He is also their addictive brother. Darnell: Darnell is one of the people hired by Daddy Dearest to kill Boyfriend. While it is unknown if Darnell and Boyfriend have had any prior interaction, he seems to be very determined to do his job as he fights Pico to do so. Nene: Nene is one of the people hired by Daddy Dearest to kill Boyfriend. Like Darnell, she selfishly does everything she can to achieve her goal, though their relationship, if it exists, remains a mystery. Parents: Boyfriend's parents are shown to be very good to him, seeming to be willing to do anything for his well-being as they paid for his tuition fees for public university. Despite his parents' good intentions, Boyfriend simply stopped attending class so he could read comics in the library all day, subsequently causing him to drop out of school, it's possible that he isn't very interested in or appreciates the things his parents do or want to do for him.

However, he has had various names such as Jack, Keith, Evan, Luis and Cam. • Boyfriend is between 19 and 20 years old. • Boyfriend has the most unused animations of any Friday Night Funkin' character. • Like Girlfriend, Boyfriend is afraid of lightning, as shown in week 2. Whenever lightning strikes, Boyfriend winces in pain and briefly flinches for a moment. GF and BF look very small for their age because they are drawn in a chibi style, similar to Pico, Nene, and Darnell, which portrays their innocence a bit. > In the Game Over screen, Boyfriend is revealed to have bowed knees, adding to his small appearance. > Even when he's not slouching and when his girlfriend isn't wearing heels, she's still taller than him.

Their love for each other is practically the only thing occupying their minds, and they would die without it. • Although his small appearance may suggest otherwise, Boyfriend is a powerful and capable fighter. • Boyfriend doesn't do his own laundry. He keeps a pile of dirty clothes on his desk chair where he goes to make music; when he wakes up, he puts the clothes on his bed, and when he goes to sleep, he puts them on his chair. • Boyfriend acts very enthusiastic when his girlfriend cooks him dinner, which consists of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. • BF and GF's favorite "animal" is a hominid, not realizing that a hominid is not a real animal. • My BF's favorite burger order is an In-N-Out Burger with jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and Animal Style sauce. • Boyfriend passionately hates the movie Cars.
