his story

Karma is an ancient spirit of Ionia who has guided her people for generations, taking the form of several human incarnations. One known incarnation, Jakgri, left his beloved Watai to take up her duties as Karma. Following his death, Karma's collective spirit passed on to its current host: Darha, a girl raised in Shon-Xan with Kathkani ancestry. At twelve years old, Darha began seeing visions of memories that were not her own and tried to resist them until she could no longer. Sent to rest in a healing hut, Darha recognized a group of monks from the Last Altar visiting her village in search of Karma's next reincarnation. Just as they were about to leave without success, Darha ran to them, crying and recognizing their voices from her visions. The monks realized that Darha's visions were a result of Karma's past lives carrying over into her new vessel, and so they adopted her as the new Karma. Leaving her old life behind, Darha was taught to connect and communicate with Karma's past lives, and adopted the traditional philosophy of promoting peace and harmony while letting evil deeds face their own consequences. But despite these teachings, Darha felt conflicted by these philosophies, much to the confusion of her followers. When the forces of Noxus invaded Ionia, Karma felt the true horrors of war as millions of Ionians were slaughtered. The voices within Karma told her to remain at the Last Altar and handle the conflict peacefully, but an even greater urge to act grew within her.

his story 2

Feeling agony from his inner conflict, Karma rose and went forth to act. He confronted a Noxian commander on his war frigate, destroying the ship and killing many of the crew with divine energy. The Ionian civilians cheered Karma's victory, but the monks believed he had misused his power and betrayed everything Karma's spirit stood for, bringing dishonor to his past lives. Karma interrupted with a raised hand, stating that the spirit of Ionia would step in to defend itself when necessary. He understood that the true way to maintain harmony was to accept that the world was changing, rather than ignore it. In the end, the Ionians found themselves embroiled in conflict as a result of the war, and Karma dedicated himself to leading his people to peace, while approving of action when necessary. Many years after Jakgri's death, his beloved Watai visited the Last Altar to receive healing from Karma following a fall. Karma healed her leg, but Watai held contempt for her due to her grief over Jakgri's death. Karma admitted her guilt over her part in the conflict with Noxus and failing to apologize to the people whose lives were ruined by the war, but she had no remorse for acting on Ionia's will. Watai showed Karma the ring Jakgri had given her. Suddenly, Karma's eyes glowed the same color as Jakgri's when he was Karma. Watai became excited at the possibility that Jakgri's soul was still there. Karma told her that he was now part of the avatar's shared mind. The collective spirits took control of Karma and assured Watai that Jakgri loved her to the very end and wanted her to keep his ring.

his story 3

Watai thanked Karma for allowing him to return, and Karma thanked her because she was the one who brought him back. Karma invited Watai to stay at the Last Altar for a few more days so they could both heal. In the end, Jakgri's spirit became part of Karma again, and Watai left knowing that not even death could stop the love between them.
